A great experience for a quick stop! While waiting for our room to get ready at our hotel we stopped by. The service was great, friendly bartenders and Security! I only had a beer so i can't speak on their food. Plenty of options in games! My favorite was the Simpsons one and the pinballs. They had a cute Photo Booth in there too. I'd say their prices were super reasonable going from .25 cents to a dollar. I'd suggest bringing cash that way you don't have to use the ATM. Great time id definitely go back.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon for drinks, food, and games. This wasn't my first time visiting, but it was my first time trying their food. We ordered the sampler and sauced chicken tenders. Everything was really good, the tenders had great flavor, and most of the sampler hits the mark. One small note, the mac and cheese balls with bacon didn't seem to have much bacon in them. Drinks were solid as well. The arcade selection is awesome, with a mix of "old school" classics and modern games. It's a great balance that lets everyone enjoy a bit of nostalgia while still having fun with newer favorites.

Came by with a party of 4 this past Saturday and had a blast, playing almost every game in the house (and there were a lot). All of the games seemed to be in working order. I especially enjoyed the space invaders arcade, skeeball, hoops, and pinball (though the guardians of the galaxy machine wasn't that great compared to others I've played elsewhere). It was incredibly crowded, understandably so due to comic-con weekend, but the music was also terribly loud (playing mainly hip hop), you couldn't even hear yourself think, let alone talk to friends and family without yelling. I didn't bother trying to order drinks or food at the bar, as I didn't feel like trying to squeeze myself between other guests nor could I imagine the wait time for food on this busy night. Still a cool spot for gaming in downtown SD.

This place is really really fun. Drinks are good, the vibe is good. However, every single game was a dollar to play pretty much. So we went through our cash so quick. I wish it was cheaper to play the games so it'd last longer. We pretty much ran through our money in 15 minutes. The service was good though, bartender was nice. The drinks were okay priced. If you come here be prepared to spend some money.

This was a fun way to kill an hour with friends. Thankfully we didn't have a problem with the bouncer as some had mentioned. We had leftovers and were allowed to keep them with security while we went inside to play and drink. Fret not if you don't have quarters to play, they had a coin exchanger inside. My only complaint was their beer pong game required singles as opposed to quarters and we had already converted all our dollars. Booths rotated around quickly and servers were very fast with clearing tables. The bartenders were friendly although it was hard to communicate over the blaring music. Menus were provided upon request. I liked the video game themed drinks and they were made strong. My Princess Peach was cloyingly sweet and the peach ring was a tad stale. There was a good variety of games. The more classic arcades games were located on the left with the games progressively becoming more modern towards the right. I had an issue with the skee ball machine where it ate up 50 cents. The beer pong machine also concluded our game early despite having 10+ balls left. The coin exchanger and bathrooms were in the middle. Interestingly, multiple people in our party complimented the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The area wasn't the largest but we were still entertained by the choices available. I would probably touch up on the alcohol drinks to make this a better experience though.

Logan the security guard is rude, racist and demeaning. He said I was drunk but yet im capable or writing a review. Bad drinks, bad games. Terrible service

I think this is my third time here, and it's always a fun spot. You exchange cash for quarters, and most of the machines cost between 50 cents to a dollar to play. The selection is decent, and the drinks are reasonably priced. Overall, it's a nice place to kill an hour or two before heading to your next destination.

    Bartenders

Martin & Johnny made Coin-Op Gaslamp Game Room such a fun experience. They brought amazing energy, gave great service, and kept the drinks coming with a great attitude all night. Both bartenders were friendly, attentive, and really helped create a fun vibe. If you're looking for a spot with awesome service and bartenders who know how to keep the atmosphere lively, this is it.

Came here at 2 on a Saturday to a busted AC, every cold food item taken off the menu, and pizza so doughey and weak it made me miss the cafeterias of Cajon Valley Unified. Game selection is solid as ever and the service was fast and friendly. I just wish the kitchen kept up.

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

His questions guided my indecision towards a Berkshire Old Fashioned that was fantastic despite my fumbling to get there. With the warm up round over and the old fashioned loosening up my creativity, round two was set to be a knockout. I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. What came out was the best cocktail I will probably ever have in my life. The bourbon cocktail with coffee liqueur (and a number of other garnishes I will never remember) hit the bullseye. Flavorful, strong, bold, delicious all at the same time. Unfortunately (?), this was a noble experiment so I'll forever be chasing the white whale of what this drink was. But that's the allure.

Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol.
