I did some research myself and have gone to ranges so I had an idea of what I wanted and what I needed to do. When I arrived, the store is in a small lot and looks a bit hidden and old. Only one room I think had AC but that was where I took my test and spent my whole time in. It's not very assuming or a luxurious place, but it has a charm and very honest feel to it. The staff there were friendly, patient, and helpful (The 2 ladies that helped me were, Tami and I didn't get the name of the other lady, but she felt like the owner). They were both very knowledgeable, honest, and transparent with their answers and recommendations, and I didn't feel pressured for anything. I was given a few firearms to try that I talked to them about and a few that they recommended. They also said anything that they did not have in store, they could order for me and did their best to accommodate or find something similar for me to feel out. They had a wide assortment of firearms, at least in my eyes, and what they kept stocked made sense. I didn't look through the whole store and everything they had, but I will tomorrow. From what I browsed and saw while I walked in and around, they have many standard picks and accessories that make sense to get in person, and a few interesting pieces. Larger items or more common items, like safes, they were very transparent and said they did not stock and that it's better to find one online, which made sense business wise. I like that they understood what is feasible for them to stock and what not to; both for their interest of keeping their inventory moving, but also to not peddle something that the customer wouldn't want or be satisfied with. I was shown everything in great detail and kindly. I made my purchase and was given instruction on what to do, what to expect, and a time frame for when I can pick things up. For my FSC, I got clear instruction, some helpful preface, and then the paperwork was straightforward and simple. I was guided for it to be as smooth as possible. I got my card and everything done and the prices were as expected and fair. I will update my review if anything changes, but considering the positive experience and friendliness of the staff, I don't think I will have anything to update. I don't know enough about prices for different models and ammo to split hairs on that, and this is a local small business, so it doesn't make sense coming here with the expectation of below market prices. The price range on the models I looked at seemed to be around the ballpark range of what I saw online for MSRP. I'm sure you could look around and get quotes to find things cheaper, but considering this is a local business and near me, I'm not coming here to try to haggle for the lowest price. I care more for the experience and personal interaction. With that said though, I also don't like small businesses that don't keep prices competitive with the rest of the market. I think this business does a fair job with it. As I mentioned before, the items I looked at, I did some research on, and the prices were in the ballpark of what I saw online which is a great indication. For what I purchased, it came as a set and luckily for me, was also on sale, so I feel my purchase was actually on the better price range.

We signed up and she provided all the information via email. I nor my friends had ever shot guns before so we were a little nervous. We got to the range and met Sayaka, who was badass! She assisted us to get geared up and shared about her expertise. There was about 6 people in our class, so it made it very intimate and they were able to assist us individually if needed! Paula and Sayaka went over various topics of safety. Already it made me feel at ease. Paula is so knowledgeable and quite hilarious she had be cracking up the entire class. Paula and Sayaka made a great team and they explained everything thoroughly. Such cool ladies! I was so inspired by them! We went over the movement of pulling the gun out from the holster over and over and over. But we didn't use the gun just learned the movements so we can get comfortable. Then we moved on to actually holding the gun. It was really helpful, because once we began shooting the adrenaline spiked! I got a lil scared and so did my friend but Paula and Sayaka were extremely patient and helpful. They showed us how to shot, where to shot, and how to reload. They gave me so much confidence that I could be badass like them! I will definitely be back and taking the next course. The three hours flew by! It was a lot of fun! We didn't know we were gonna get to shot in the shoothouse so that was a surprise and such a great time! Paula got some cool pics of us. 10/10 experience and I def recommend to women who have never shot before. It's definitely a necessity to protect ourselves and our loved ones!

The guys running the show--Ron, Juan, and the rest of the crew--are active and retired law enforcement, veterans, and first responders. They aren't just reading slides out of a manual; they're sharing actual, street-level experience. There's no fluff and absolutely zero attitude, just straight-shooting, practical advice from people who have actually been there. Every single instructor, and there are a lot of them, are approachable, engaging, and legitimately want to help you become a safer and more knowledgeable CCW card holder. The day starts with a safety brief and then some shooting drills, followed by the live-fire qualification, all of it up at Burro Canyon (give yourself extra time to get there, this place is in the middle of the boondocks). Safety was locked down tight, but the environment was relaxed enough that everyone could focus and get some solid training in. The instructors readily admit that the actual shooting qualification score is a no-brainer, so they weave in more things like drawing from the holster and dropping magazines. The instructors are constantly on the move, adjusting your grip, giving you tips to be a safer and more accurate shooter. Very, very cool. Following the shooting qualifications and a lunch break, they handled the legal updates and use-of-force stuff clearly and kept the class moving. One of the best parts is that they actually weave trauma medical training ('Stop the Bleed') right into the course. Knowing how to save a life is just as important as knowing how to handle a firearm, and most other CCW classes completely skip that side of the coin. I will confess that as a new hunter, I carry a tourniquet, but I didn't consider some of the nuances the instructors brought up, like rapid access from the pack, putting it on one-handed, high and tight, etc. And we actually practiced using it! If you need your initial permit or you're just looking for a renewal class that won't waste your time, don't look anywhere else. Professional, down-to-earth, and genuinely good people. Five stars all day long.

Shoutout to Ron, Juan, Robert, Victor, Randy, and Sebastian for being the best representation of what and how all instructors should be. Patience and professionalism at its finest! I was able to hop onto a Zoom meeting with Steven Hung shortly after I got off work and he took the time to get to know what I was looking to get from the course, what made me decide to become a gun owner, and he tailored the content to emphasize certain things that were relevant to my situation. Steven answered all the questions I had going in and all the new questions I had as we covered the materials. At the end our call, we agreed to meet at the La Puente Firing Range for the live fire portion of the course. I got the opportunity to apply the concepts from the course with my own gun. I'd been to a firing range 3 times before without any training or guidance beyond random YouTube videos I'd found and just "doing what felt right." Up until then, my untrained results had been "OK" but nothing special. This time, with Steven's instruction, guidance, and tips, I saw my accuracy improve DRAMATICALLY in just a few magazines' worth of shots and started understanding the fundamentals of shooting. I walked away from that live fire session ready to hit the range again ASAP to practice and hone the skills Steven taught me that evening. As the owner states at the top this Yelp thread, Arcadia Firearm charges a $100 "storage fee" in addition to the $47 DROS fee for a PPT transaction. There is no reason to go to this place when every other FFL I've used throughout Southern CA only charges the required $47. Unfortunately, the owner does not tell you about the extra $100 fee until he processes your DROS paperwork that requires a $47 charge. So you either have to pay $147 (when you only have to pay $47 at every FFL I have ever used) or you can pay the $47 fee for the DROS paperwork already processed and then cancel the PPT transaction. It would be better and less expensive to pay the $47 and go to another FFL. It would be even better to avoid this scam operation before losing your $47. This company has no ethics at whatsoever. Arcadia Firearm need to make it explicit BEFORE processing the DROS paperwork that it intends to charge $100 on top of the DROS fee so that the buyer can make an informed decision as to whether or not he or she wishes to throw away $100 or drive ten minutes to another FFL that doesn't tack on a $100 storage fee. FF Firearms is a well established firearms dealer that recently moved into the Montebello area. The shop has a modern look and even though it is not very large, it is clean, organized, and easy to navigate. They carry a solid selection of pistols along with higher caliber firearms. There is also a small section of accessories on the left side and a kiosk displaying new tactical products. When I walked in, the staff seemed a bit busy and I was not greeted right away, but after a moment Octavio helped me out. He was friendly, courteous, and took the time to explain the process for purchasing ammo. I originally went in to buy a few boxes, but I ended up purchasing bulk ammo for a good price. I also picked up a magazine while I was there. I asked about having a firearm shipped to their location if I bought one online, and Octavio explained that it is definitely possible and walked me through how that works. I plan to come back whenever I need more ammo or have questions about buying a specific firearm. Overall, the store is clean, well stocked, and easy to shop in. I would recommend it to anyone who is a first time firearm owner or someone with experience who wants to add to their collection.

Worst experience at any gun store I've been to. Do not trust them with your gun…read more Their communication is horrible. Their records often inaccurate. The gun smith says one thing -- their shop sales person another -- their manager a third. I initially had them set to work on a Nighthawk custom 1911. Simple job adding an RMR optic. When I realized it would void the warranty, I went into the store and asked them to ship the gun to nighthawk. They confirmed no work had taken place and they would send it. 3 visits later + several phone calls and emails -- it took them 2.5 months to mail the gun. Eventually, with me having to handle it. 2.5 months. To ship something. Nothing unstandard. Each time I'd visit or call they'd say they had it under control. One of the times I called in, they informed me that they had finished cutting the optic into the guns slide. Which is exactly what I asked them not to do, since it would void the lifetime warranty. Luckily their computer system is so bad and their communication so inaccurate that it turned out they were wrong - they hadn't worked on the gun. and it still hadn't shipped. Then after waiting 2.5 months to send the gun - Nighthawk receives it, and notes that the gun wasn't shipped with my Trijicon RMR. Again -- now I'm waiting for the RMR to ship in. On april 24th the manager Will said he would send it. I confirmed and sent him an email. No response. Finally following up yet again, I see he put it in the mail a week after my request. Followed up again to get tracking. Avoid them at all costs. Total clowns. No apologies for their horrible service on the phone. Excuses and BS. Told me the original gun smith wasn't at the company anymore -- but that doesn't excuse the timeline, lack of communication, or bad service.

Even in group settings individual attention is generous. Yes it's a hike to get out to Azusa, but there is solid safety reasoning for that choice. Deal with it! I can see moving up to their more advanced training sessions soon.
