Was happy to learn that this indoor range was open on a holiday, New Years. Seemed to be a good idea as the place was busy. The guys behind the counter were still cool and calm even while being busy. The lanes were clean and everything seemed to be in working order. I prefer outdoor shooting but this place came in clutch for rainy days. Thanks for staying open! read more

Went here with a group of friends as a first time at the range. The staff was helpful in asking questions. One of my friends had ammo and taught us firearm safety, so these were things not needed from the staff. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Only wished people cleaned up the casings in their lanes, as it was left all over. read more

It's nice go on this range. U can bring ammo as long as it is bronze casing like you can buy at turner. If you bring ammo you will save money because price of ammo at range is double price from turner. 50 rounds 9mm is $13 at the range is $30. Have fun. read more

Young short man at the counter is completely incompetent when it comes to firearm regulations. Tried selling me ammo saying that their ammo is expensive because we're paying for the convenience of not having to wait 10 days for DOJ Background check. Don't blame him though, the owner probably hires anyone off the street and is trying hard to sell his ammo. Don't recommend this place. Save your time. read more

Outdated, isn't clean yet highest prices around for a hourly rate fyi. Most other ranges are less per lane fee & do not have a limit on time. Staff can definitely have better customer service , especially for these prices. read more

Been here a few times. Its a indoor range for doing the basics with handguns. They do not allow any rifle or pistol caliber carbine. The range it self is kinda outdated, wish they improved or did upgrades. Plenty of bays and handguns for renting. Just be aware and careful for the other shooters. read more

I have been coming to this range roughly around January. Prior to my first visit I had already conducted my research and homework on this ranges rules and fees. I can honestly say to my volume shooters who want to come to the range everyday and have unlimited range time definitely get their yearly membership, it's really worth it. I did mention I am a military veteran showing my veterans ID and I was given $50 off for their membership which I ended up paying $350. Ever since I bought the membership I have been coming over to this range multiple times a week unless I'm busy it's once a week but I get my moneys worth since i don't have to pay every time I visit. The only thing I pay is for their paper targets which I usually get up to four depending on how many guns I bring or how I feel. Concerning their fees their twenty dollar minimum in my experience is when it comes to paying the paper targets so please be ready to have some cash on had at least $10. I also want to mention that their caliber restrictions is true and through in their rules, handguns up to .44 Magnum and rifles only .22 LR and absolutely no shotguns as well as ammunition restrictions which is strictly brass cases ammo and absolutely nothing other than that is allowed. They will use a magnet on your ammo and check your firearms when coming into the range even though I'm a regular they got to do their job. Overall, I love coming to this range, I highly recommend it for those who are looking for an indoor range to discharge their firearms safely and soundly with unlimited range time, they are open 11am-11pm everyday, look through their Facebook page where they announce if they are open during holidays federally recognized such as Presidents' Day which they were and of course follow range rules. read more

Very easygoing and friendly staff. I have an annual membership and bring my own firearm and ammo so I can't comment on the rates for gun rental or range ammo. I come once a week or every other week to maintain my aim so the annual membership easily pays for itself since I come often enough. read more

As a first timer, I was as respectful as possible about the situation. I'm not the type to complain but the staff were rude. I was denied entry despite having a Florida real ID that showed I'm 21 years or older. I also had my U.S passport to back it up. But still denied entry. They only wanted a valid California ID. I felt discriminated for using my out of state id. People from out of state should never come to this location. Go to a different one instead. read more

recently visited La Puente Shooting Range, and I was really disappointed with the experience. First of all, the prices are ridiculously high, it feels like you're getting charged more for any actual value. Plus, if you want to rent a gun, it's an additional. It's hard to justify paying so much when other ranges in the area offer much better rates. Another huge issue I had was with safety. The range feels outdated, and there are certain aspects of the facility that just didn't feel secure. There were multiple occasions where I felt the staff was either distracted or not paying close enough attention to ensure proper safety practices. I noticed that a lot of the equipment and booths looked worn out, which made me feel uneasy. I've been to other ranges where I felt much safer, and frankly, I expected more given the price. Overall, I won't be returning. The high prices and lack of proper attention to safety make this range a poor choice in my opinion. There are better, more affordable, and safer options out there. read more

We told them it's our first time ever shooting and the customer representative never bothered telling us what to do or how to shoot until we asked him to teach us. He just gave us the gun and left us. Again, this was our first time and you'd think they should have better training at teaching first timers like us. Instead, he just "let us roam free" ‍ read more

I have shot before at a range but it had been a few years and my father has never shot at a range before so we were fairly new and inexperienced shooters. The process of renting a gun and ammo and a lane is fairly easy. The place is rather small and run down and could use some renovation for sure but it's La Puente so I can't really complain. We shot a .357 revolver and switched to a different gun shortly after. When checking out the employee showed us how to reload, shoot, chamber, and everything. However, it was just that once and then we were let into the range alone which I think is dangerous for inexperienced shooters. When we tried to switch guns to something that was a little more complicated than a revolver we ran into some difficulties. We tried asking for help and we were met with snark from the employee helping. He came into the range, didn't do a lot to explain where we were going wrong, fixed our issue, and then left. I really wish the range had more employees who could sit with inexperienced shooters and help them when they are having difficulties. I felt somewhat unsafe and I'm sure if I was a more experienced shooter knowing that someone who hasn't shot before was just let into the range unattended I would feel even less safe. If you're bringing your own guns, ammo, and gear and don't need help then the range is sufficient, but I would not go here if you're looking for help. Probably the most unhelpful bunch of staff who seem like they don't want anyone there. read more

3X markup on Aguila .22. $5 at turners for retail price. $14.99 at this range. $26/hr. Pumped 200 rounds in 50 mins out of the hour I was given. Was unsure if their air system was on today. Smoke stagnated throughout. Eyes and nose were irritated for the majority of the time. Couldn't send the rounds through fast enough. Been snotting black residue since I returned home. Good to try. Won't be back. About what you'd expect for an older indoor range. Just unfortunate in regards to air quality. Fine with over paying since it was an impulse decision to go shooting on a Sunday and the rounds I brought couldn't be shot there. Been looking for an alternative since OC indoor shut down. Won't be this place. read more

To all those complaining about LPFR high fee open your Apple map larger to seek other firing ranges in Los Angeles County it's all the same. Insight in Artesia is at $20 but that's all. Everywhere else has even more ridiculous fees and rules like non out side ammo allowed. Must buy range ammo with the same ridiculous overinflated pricing for a box of 50 rounds. Look up LA Gun Club LOL La Puente Firing Range has been around for so many decades. Don't expect them to lower their prices or rules because you decided to complain about an extra $5 and because their equipment is a bit outdated. Or the fact you can't shoot your AR or shotgun. If that's the case go to Burro Canyon Shooting Park. Much better to be outdoors with that type of volume. At least that's where I like to shoot mines. LPFR is the Only legit firing range in the area that covers their surrounding cities full of active Pro 2A Law Abiding Citizens. Can't forget the crime rate and higher tax in Los Angeles county. All those take effect in their pricing. Easy for the customer to complain when they are at the range for 40 minutes letting off 250 rounds. These workers at LPFR have to be there all day closing at 11pm LOL At the End of the day if the going gets tough my handguns are going to be my go to over my other guns and La Puente FR will always cater to my needs of where I get to keep them sharp. read more

09/26/2020 Spending some quality time with my daughter. No wimpy caliber's today. Shooting 9mm, 40SW, 45ACP, 38 special and 357 Magnum. When you come in they scan your body temperature. You have to wear a face mask. Sign in then they check your ammo making sure you don't have any steel case and lead ammo. They ask you if you need any targets, ear and eye protection. Then a lane is assigned go in and have fun. read more

I've been back a few times and my opinion has definitely changed, I can shoot 45ACP from various hand guns but if it's from a PCC it's suddenly a no go. I came with some friends and had to take my USC45 with an EOTech back to the car while we shot, the area itself is kind of sketchy so the entire time we were shooting I had that in the back of my mind. No where on their website does it mention carbines aren't allowed, another time I was turned away from shooting my Fn Five Seven...the final nail in the coffin for me was last night. Drove here from Pasadena for a quick date night, brought a few cool pieces to shoot including a desert eagle chambered in 44MAG. Was told that I couldn't shoot it because the ammo was a flat tip vs a round tip, something that isn't mentioned on their website. I asked if they sold any 44MAG there and they said no, when you combine how expensive it is, all of their rules that aren't on their website and how outdated the range is. It's a no go for me, the only thing this place has going is that it's open late. I'd rather go shoot at LA gun club or LAX ammo and that says a lot read more

Lane is $25 PER HOUR, lol. This was before I owned 5 guns. I wanted to try compact and subcompact glocks for CCW, so I searched up the closest range from my house. This is *the most* expensive place in LA, compared to FT3 Tactical ($25 for the day), Evan's Gun World ($20 for the day), Riverside Magnum ($17 for the day). I wouldn't have a problem with that if this place was recently renovated and has got one-tap electronic controlled targets, etc. However... The place is beyond-old and ammo and gun-rental are way overpriced - a 50 box of 9mm is $28.99 & $17 per firearm. I rented 2 Glocks + 2 boxes for me and my gf. The total was $157 for 1 hour... And $375 for annual membership? No thanks I will go Evan's or FT3 any day of the week. Not cool ripping off newbies. Highly & strongly *do not* recommend coming here. read more

Prices are way too high paid around 70 just for 3 people for only 1hr there is plenty of other spots that let you shoot for longer for a much cheaper price.. if you're looking to shoot a rifle don't come here they don't let you shoot .223. Also ammo prices $27 for a box of 9mm is crazy lol. Don't come here save yourself the trip and goto a different range. read more

This spot has been my go to shooting range for the past few months. Never had to wait for a lane. My friend and I always manage to beat the rush! And even then there are still tons of lanes open. They can provide you ammo and targets. You can rent from their wide variety of guns. Or of course bring your own. They do a check of what your bringing in at the front. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. And they are open late! A lot of the gun ranges in the area close around 7. Not La Puente! They close at 11! Parking - never had an issue finding parking here. Will I be back? Yuuup! You know it! Probably soon! read more

You can bring your own targets, but the standard B-27 Target are always excepted. If I recall they don't allow targets with people on them. Pretty much the targets they sell at the range are the ones they allow you to bring in.

Yes Sir that is fine. The range re-opened on May 16, 2020 from 11 am to 11 pm 7 days a week. So happy I've got me an itch in my trigger finger that needs a fix.

I brought my own firearm and ammo. There is no additional cost to use your own. Just keep in mind, they are picky about the type of ammo. Brass only and there is a caliber restrict. Probably nothing over .45 but I don't recall.…

I have multiple questions, are you allow to bring you own firearm? If I have a personal firearm can I go alone and can you use your own ammunition? Is it free of charge if I use one of the lane or I have to pay and how much is it?

Yes you can bring in your own firearms. Yes you can go in alone. Yes you can bring in your own ammo, BUT can't be brass, steel or aluminum. I believe it's $20 for 1 person for 1 hour in 1 lane.

Yes as long as it's has brass cases and FMJ If shooting JHP the copper has to extend to the tip no lead must be exposed.

Can i bring winchester steel case FMJ - brass jacketed lead core 9mm Luger?

No lead, steel or aluminum and no steel casing are allowed. They do have ammo for sale, pretty reasonable.

I was able to hop onto a Zoom meeting with Steven Hung shortly after I got off work and he took the time to get to know what I was looking to get from the course, what made me decide to become a gun owner, and he tailored the content to emphasize certain things that were relevant to my situation. Steven answered all the questions I had going in and all the new questions I had as we covered the materials. At the end our call, we agreed to meet at the La Puente Firing Range for the live fire portion of the course. I got the opportunity to apply the concepts from the course with my own gun. I'd been to a firing range 3 times before without any training or guidance beyond random YouTube videos I'd found and just "doing what felt right." Up until then, my untrained results had been "OK" but nothing special. This time, with Steven's instruction, guidance, and tips, I saw my accuracy improve DRAMATICALLY in just a few magazines' worth of shots and started understanding the fundamentals of shooting. I walked away from that live fire session ready to hit the range again ASAP to practice and hone the skills Steven taught me that evening. I look forward sharpening my skills as a new shooter and highly recommend Veterans Training Group to anyone who wants to develop their shooting skills. It sounded like they made special accommodations for myself and some other shooters, by opening up the "tactical" range, since there were no members shooting at that time. That was awesome, because it got me on the range sooner. I also brought with me a new firearm - Canik Mete MC9LS with a new optic. I forgot my regular range bag with my tools; however, the range staff allowed me to use one of their tools to adjust my new optic. I don't know how the targets move on the regular range, but on the tactical range, you can push buttons to automatically set the targets at a specified distance, move the targets manually back and forth, and automatically have the target return. Best of all, the prices were very reasonable. $20 per lane and $0.50 targets - WAAAAAY better than prices in the Bay Area. If I were a resident of the area, I'd definitely become a member. (I overheard one of the staff members informing another customer of the benefits and price.). Top Notch outfit in my opinion.

John, our instructor, was very engaging and great at commanding attention when needed and building up the class's confidence. Afterward, I took them up on their 'newbie' offer of free range time and rental after class. Kevin signed me up for a lane, let me rent a couple of handgun models I researched previously, and critiqued my targets, giving some general feedback and advice. He also pointed me toward a couple other models that are known to be more friendly to left-handed shooters that I can test out in the future. Great place; a little on the older and smaller sides, but staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. I get the feeling that as I 'shop around' for my go-to range there's a strong chance I will gravitate back here, since these guys are passionate about what they do, and seem to want to inspire that passion in others. Definitely will make it a point to stop by again.
