The transition has gone well, and the school continues to thrive. Parental involvement is a big part of the community, with 25 mandatory family volunteer hours each year, which truly helps foster a strong, connected school environment. Uniforms are required and are provided through Risse Brothers, conveniently available online and at their storefront up north. There are also plenty of uniform resale opportunities throughout the school year, which is very helpful for families. The school hosts so many events throughout the year that actively involve families and build a true sense of community. The curriculum is very Catholic education-based and academically rigorous, providing a solid and well-rounded education. Teachers are kind, attentive, and truly care about the students--especially the PK teachers, who are absolutely wonderful. I shared that our son has dyslexia and is a bit behind in reading, but that we were fully willing to support him, including having him repeat 3rd grade if necessary to help him succeed academically. Instead of discussing possible solutions or support options, we were repeatedly told that transitioning from 2nd to 3rd grade would be "impossible" and that it would require "sooooo much work at home." The conversation felt extremely discouraging and came across as condescending, as though assumptions were being made about our willingness or ability as parents to help our child. As parents of a child with a learning difference, we were hoping for understanding, encouragement, and a collaborative approach. Sadly, that was not the experience we had. Every child deserves to be seen for their potential, not immediately dismissed because they may need extra support.

Due to the incident and us calling the police, our son was expelled and the head of school then profiled and discriminated our son. Who knows what else they sweep under the rug. Our son's teacher never went out of her way to get to know us or contact us to tell us about our son's progres, behavior, needs, etc. in class. We found that odd. So I started calling/emailing her to check on our son. They claim to care about children but don't go the extra mile to do so and admitted to not having the resources.

When I attempted to express my confusion, Ms. Conn's response was to rashly announce that she would "just take him off our list." Throughout our conversation, Ms. Conn wielded her words and tone like a weapon, showcasing an unsettling display of privilege and power. As the school leader, we expected her to foster a sense of collaboration and partnership in the enrollment process, bridging the gap between families, students, and other school stakeholders. Instead, we encountered an individual who took pleasure in her gatekeeping role, someone who reveled in the ability to dictate, limit, and control access. Ms. Conn's entire attitude was unarguably condescending, her demeanor cold, and her empathy was nowhere to be found.
