Disappointed. After waiting a week, I picked up my boots, paid $40 for a piece of rubber heel and a sole reglued on one foot. The boots looked rough and unpolished. There was glue on the shoe vinyl from his sloppy work. They should be embarrassed. Service is not what it used to be. read more

I previously reviewed this place generously, but I take it all back. I had my walking shoes resoled for $100, pretty pricey but the repair looked good and they're my favourite shoes. However, while I was travelling two months later, the new soles began to detach, leaving me with dangerous flaps at the front and leaking water. I bought some super-glue and fixed them as well as I could (not very well). When I returned to Victoria, I took them back and complained--rationally and calmly. The young woman didn't apologize and said I wouldn't have to pay for the new repair! I said I flipping well hoped not. When I came to pick them up, her father was there, and I mentioned to him that the defect had been seriously inconvenient and it would be good customer service at least to offer an apology. He became very hostile and said--get this--that their repairs weren't guaranteed, they were fixing them without further charge, and I was unintelligent. Right. So there you go, folks. If you want to pay $100 for a "repair" that isn't guaranteed not to fail within two months and then get insulted by a rude old man, this is just the place. read more

Things have drastically changed here since original owners semi retired and passed on business to daughter and son in law. Unfriendly after messing up my shoes, and not admitting to their mistake. Charged me full price without a discount for their mistake. After inspecting my "newly re-repaired shoes, I spotted damage to the heal that wasn't there before. What a poor job, so very unsatisfied after being a loyal customer for more than a decade. Will never go back. All I can remember is the cold condescending look the daughter gave me while I tried explaining the situation. read more

I feel like I was robbed. They charged me one hundred and thirty five dollars to re-sole my blundstones which cost 170.00 brand new. The guy laughed and said "you should have asked the price!" as he told me that if the heels peel apart, that's not his responsibility. When I look in the boots, there were no insoles so I can see the nails in the bottom of the boot. Horrible business. read more

I took my hiking boots in to be resoled and he said it would be $40. He also did a bit of stitching which was nice but I hadn't asked for it. When I came back he rang up the bill for $136. I almost decided to leave him with my boots since they weren't worth $136. I managed to talk him down to $110 but it was awkward and difficult and I still paid too much. Not too impressed and I won't go back. read more

Amazing service and quality of work. Dropped off my Timberland blundstone style boots for resoling and they were finished a week later. Got them back cleaned and shined and looking better than new. The soles are better than the originals. Cost was $85 plus tax and worth every penny. Went here after shoemaker at Hillside mall told me that the soles on this model of boot could not be replaced. Honest advice - a rarity in today's customer service: brought in shoes that I thought were falling apart, owner advised that they could last another season before really needing repair, saving me time & $$. I brought in my $200 Josef Seibel leather boots for new heels and had made sure that they were polished before bringing them in. When I went to pick them up I knew something was wrong and the owner said he had just polished them. I compared them to the laces when I brought them home and realized they were no longer the same blue and almost black. I returned to the business today to complain and the owner would not acknowledge he had done anything wrong and said they would return to the original blue after I wore them a while. I went to another reputable shoe repair business who confirmed the color had been changed to a darker blue and could not be lightened. Do not support this business read more

I took a favorite pair of sandals to have the soles replaced as the old ones had cracked. They were a very expensive pair originally and other repair shops would not fix them. I choose this shop on the review of Jeff and his cowboy boots. Arcadia said he would and did fix them. It was a fair price for fixing a favorite pair of sandals that would be impossible to replace with the quality of the old sandals. Thank you so much Arcadia. You have a customer for life. read more

Oh my gosh, if I ever leave Victoria, I don't know how I'll find another "shoe guy" as good as this one. The shop is ran by the same man who does all of the repairs, and his wife helps him out with some tasks. I'll admit that he's a little more expensive than some, but he also will go way above and beyond the call of duty whenever he can. Some of the services my boyfriend and I have had completed by him include: - Countless lift replacements - good quality, and he always shines up your shoes as long as they're not a weird color - Leather couch cushion repair (tears in the leather) - You can barely even see where the tears used to be. - Leather dying - I had a purse in a weird shade of red that I didn't take very good care of. He couldn't find the exact color to re-dye it, but he found one that was close and did a really solid job. The color ended up bleeding a little, but he warned me that this might happen. - Boot resoling - My boyfriend is in the army, so he needs solid boots. After he had his boots resoled, he felt they were less resilient in the field, but that they were the comfiest boots he owned for day-to-day work. - Permanent Gloss Application - For the boyfriend's dress boots, he had this permanent shine put on. Granted, he doesn't wear them a ton, but two years later, they're still reflective. Even though the service is great, I think the best thing about this place is the owner. He is always amazingly friendly, calls me by my name every time I go in (even if it's been a few months since my last visit), and has even offered me his family home overseas as a place to stay if I ever visit. Expensive. I took a pair of mens dress shoes in for a new sole. He ended up charging me $70. Not only that, he changed the shape of the shoe's toe box and the width. Now I have a pair of shoes that don't fit and don't even look like the original shoe. Wouldn't recommend. read more

In reading the other review, there must have been a change inn ownership, as the experience was definitely NOT a pleasant one....no wife in sight. This man quoted one price and charged another...considerably higher! When questioned about this he became extremely rude and unprofessional...using foul language ! On top of this , it was a second repair of his own work previously done...he would not stand behind his own work ...became extremely defensive,Please, if you patronize this shop, get your quote in writing....I will never return! read more

Wasn't very happy with the transaction. Took my work shoes there to be resoled, no talk of price, brought $80 cash with me when I went back to pick them up cause he didn't take credit card and it came to $85. I should have just left the shoes there as the soles were super heavy and wore out after a few months of wearing them. After that went out and bought a new pair of shoes for $90 and lasted me much longer. read more
