However, while I was travelling two months later, the new soles began to detach, leaving me with dangerous flaps at the front and leaking water. I bought some super-glue and fixed them as well as I could (not very well). When I returned to Victoria, I took them back and complained--rationally and calmly. The young woman didn't apologize and said I wouldn't have to pay for the new repair! I said I flipping well hoped not. When I came to pick them up, her father was there, and I mentioned to him that the defect had been seriously inconvenient and it would be good customer service at least to offer an apology. He became very hostile and said--get this--that their repairs weren't guaranteed, they were fixing them without further charge, and I was unintelligent. Right. So there you go, folks. If you want to pay $100 for a "repair" that isn't guaranteed not to fail within two months and then get insulted by a rude old man, this is just the place.

I am not saying good things about this business because they are some small business with a personal touch. I am also a customer who consumed some of their products and services too, and I have compared them to the large corporation stores. Corporation products have a planned obsolescence built in so their products will break down after a certain amount of times usage. That way they keep customers returning to buy more product. They have no craftmanship, just a money churning machine and you are just another customer number.

I was not prepared for the absolute show-stopper that he produced. Not only does sole look even better than what I'd expect from the factory, but he reconditioned the whole boot. These boots look better than the day I bought them. For the amazing work he puts out, I'd fully expect to pay double the price. It's obvious he puts in a huge amount of care and attention to each detail, and the professional pride absolutely comes through.
