    This is a cool place!!
    Suzanne S.

What a beautiful day!! We were out walking about the "diag" on the University of Michigan Campus and it was a lovely day! The sun was shining and we decided to head over to the Arcadian inside of the little "hallway" called "Nickels Arcade"...it's a cute little covered "hall" with this great little Antique store ! I so much bling and shiny stuff that I just wanted everything! The prices are a bit high but hey, you have to pay for quality, right? This out of the way ecclectic off shoot of the campus gives you a glimpse of what the people in the town of Ann Arbor are like. They /We love our "uniqueness"! That is an understatement and I love this antique store! You just must try it when you have a bit of a sunny day and some walk about time on your hands! Enjoy!

My engagement ring that was sized by The Arcadian.

My experience with The Arcadian was exceptional. My fiancee and I had gone to several other jewelers trying to size my engagement ring and were turned away. The owner of this shop immediately filled me with confidence. She said that my ring could be sized and that they would be more than happy to take care of it for me. When I got my ring back, it came out even better than I imagined and I'm extremely happy that I can finally wear my ring.

Just a sample of what is here!

This store rocks! Anyone who is interested in jewelry, antiques, furniture, quilts, or glass should visit this store. WORTH A TRIP OF HUNDREDS OF MILES. We discovered this store a number of years ago, and try to make it once a year, even though we live in Maryland. While we love looking at everything there, we in particular love the jewelry. Vintage jewelry is a wonderful deal, and this store has a HUGE selection. And the store owners are wonderful. They can work with you with ANY budget, and love to help people! They are great, open, honest people. Reminds me of what I miss so much about the Midwest. Everyone should visit this store.

A few rings I got restored.

Exceptional service and superb craftmanship describes my experience with Arcadian Antiques! I've inherited several rings from family members and have taken them to get resized and restored. They always come back 100% better than what they looked before I took them to the store. I had a ring in particular that was over 100 years old with a fading design. The jeweler they work with did wonders at restoring the ring. I completely trust them with handling precious family heirlooms.

just one of my ~ 8 gorgeous rings purchased over 25 + years

My beautiful rings, purchased over the past 25 + years, are only a few my favorite jewelry pieces from The Arcadian's amazing collections. The Arcadian will always have gorgeous, unique items, curated carefully to standards of very high quality and beauty. Prices are always fair, and a far better bargain than 'new jewelry store' rates. I have lived in Michigan, Germany, the NYC area, Iowa, Chicago, and DC; this is the most impressive collection of vintage and antique jewelry I have ever encountered. And if you are seeking a fabulous, special engagement ring, this is the only place you MUST visit. The two locations are brimming with wonderful things -- not only jewelry but also items like dishes, evening bags, picture frames, perfume bottles -- beautiful vintage things, but always well fitted, due to the talent of the owner, to current trends in accessorizing or decorating. The Arcadian also works with extremely trustworthy artisans for repairs and sizing, and I have been able to have items repaired which others claimed were irreparable. Just go, even if Ann Arbor is out of your way!

They've got beautiful art prints from independent artists, handmade ceramics, plus stationery, a bangin' candle section, lovely housewares and textiles like throws, pillows, and tea towels, plus jewelry, the list goes on and on. Plus when you shop here you're really shopping small, because most of what they carry falls into that category. If you go to their website you can take a look at a list of the artists they carry in store, and I love recognizing names of friends and people I admire in their respective fields. It's a delight digging through all their offerings and I highly recommend you get there soon to do it yourself!

No matter the time of year I love visiting Downtown Home & Garden. My previous review stated, "I love any store where I can get tulip bulbs, a new bird house, a winter hat shaped like a Christmas tree, a new cookie sheet and a loaf of Zingerman's bread" and all that still rings true. But these days I also add national parks merch, gear for my dogs, holiday decor, kitchen gadgets and cookbooks and, perhaps most exciting for a Polish broad like myself, a variety of Polish pottery pieces. In the spring and summer months I can be found perusing peony bulbs for my garden, hummingbird feeders, bird seed and squirrel proof bird feeders, planters, plants/starters for my veggie garden, pest control and fertilizers, plus a variety of lawn decor and sculpture pieces, etc. Some things can be kind of pricey but you truly get what you pay for. Even after years out in the elements everything I've bought for my yard here is still in amazing condition, my plants from here always yield the most delicious fruits and veggies, and the little birdies are so happy with the snacks we provide them from their bins.

Let me just preface this by saying DO NOT COME TO THIS STORE…read more I came in to purchase a dress for a formal. They said I would be able to come back and return the dress if needed as long as I had a receipt, however they did not put a receipt in my bag. Then when I came back to return the dress I was blamed for their mistakes and told I could only return the item for a gift card. Additionally the worker was extremely hostile and did not know how to work her own cash register and had to call for help multiple times. After issuing the gift card they told me that I would not be able to use the gift card because "their machine was down," essentially stealing $65 from me. Despite saying that they would reach out to me about the issue they never did and I had to call multiple times to resolve this issue. On the phone the worker called me rude (I don't know how trying to get a refund is considered "rude") and was extremely unhelpful. Finally they agreed to exchange the gift card for a different item (after 2 phone calls and 4 in store visits, I don't know why they couldn't have done this in the first place) This fiasco wasted me hours of time. Do yourself a favor and order a dress from somewhere else or head to a mall or basically anything but go to this store. If you must purchase something avoid interaction with Mary. She is completely clueless and obviously was not trained properly. Edit: The store owner called me a day after to guilt trip me, offer various excuses, and when that didn't work blatantly told me to the take review down and tried to bribe me. Unfortunately I will not be bribed.

Was browsing the earring section with a few friends. Decided to go look at something else, so I put the earrings back. When I returned to the earring section, where my friends were still standing, I was approached by an employee. She asked me if I had left the earrings over on the other side, where I had just returned from. Confused, I said I hadn't. She continued prodding me about the earrings (are you sure you didn't put them down, where are they, etc...) I then realized she was accusing me of stealing them. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, she asked me to show her the exact place that I had set down the earrings (wtf) which I was able to do. She then walked away without even an apology. It goes without saying that accusing customers of stealing when you obviously have no idea what you are talking about is not only disrespectful, embarrassing (given that the store was incredibly crowded at the time), but extremely unprofessional. Sad to say I will not be returning to Verbena....clothes are cute...and employees usually professional and respectful.
