Love this airport. Very small and easy to drop off and pick up. Plus I don't have to drive very far to get to an airport. They fly out to most major cities.

One of the smallest airports I've ever been to! Unfortunately our flight got diverted back to SFO due to an autopilot malfunction. Flying into this airport can be risky. I've been told by someone in Arcata that Pilots will not land if the airport is foggy. We luckily got put into a different plane in SFO and was able to land in Arcata at 1:30am. Had issues getting an Uber at that time so I had to call a cab driver my hotel recommended.

Avelo is a new air carrier out of our little airport. We were required to show up 2 hours before our departure. The airport it's self has a small parking lot that was almost full . The short term parking is easy to get in and out of and the drop off zone is well lit at night. All COVID rules are being followed at this airport, that was good to see. Checking into our new airlines was mostly pain free. No real complaints. After our check in we went up stairs and kicked back ,ssssshhhhh not that many people know about up there. You can watch the planes come and go virtually by yourself. Getting thru security was a breeze , it's funny , there was no one in line, super easy , the waiting area has nice bathrooms and snacks with water fountains. We are flying with our dog " Hazel" and it was no big deal. Everyone loved our dog, recommended

This is such a tiny airport with minimal amenities and services offered. Our flight landed here during the day, and the flight all from the plane to the small terminal was long enough to get soaked during the flooding rains of the season. I was then very confused when both the Uber and Lyft apps were stuck over half an hour not finding a driver. There was no visible signage around about the 4 cab companies in town which I later got to find out about. The only positive was The Grind cafe that served delicious food and wine. The rental car place had no cars to rent. On my return trip, I got dropped off at the ACV Airport way in advance around 3:45 PM given the limited transportation in the area. There was not a thing open until 5:30 PM when The Grind finally opened and saved the day. The TSA opened 20 minutes after the stated opening time. ACV is one of those small airports that you can get in and out of quickly if you knew in advance to arrange for a vehicle but at this day and age, one hopes to have a little more amenities, options and transportation guidance from even a regional airport to not get stuck.

It is called Arcata-Eureka Airport but it is not located in either of those two cities mentioned :-D instead it is located in McKinleyville,CA! This airport is nice and quaint getaway from the city in a small town full of local and commercial businesses surrounding the town. Inside the two story airport you can find a Hertz and Almo car rental companies available 24/7. Also security is pretty spot on making sure folks don't stop for too long in the pick up/drop off area for too long. But don't forget you get the first 10 minutes free validated parking . Overall the airport has a clean state of the arc feel to it which includes their architecture and large windows. I agree that it can get a bit expensive to fly out from here and with only United Airlines available it can get a bit pricy but it if you want to make sure you catch your flight without having to drive to Crecent City or Oakland then this is the place for you!!

While not the biggest airport, it gets the job done. Happy to have this airport nearby to be able to make connections in larger cities. The airport itself is small which has its pros and cons, and there is only one place to buy food and drink which is akin to a coffee stand in a mall. There is Enterprise Car Rental counter in the airport but boarding and deplaning are both done old school on the tarmac. I think my biggest tiff with the airport is that security and such was closed even though I arrived for my flight 90 minutes early. Security opened the lines about 30 minutes before the flight took off. While expedient, it left me wondering what was going on with no one to ask. I'll continue to frequent the airport, it now I know amenities are limited.

Easy for an airport. I have traveled through many airports and its not fun sometimes, but this airport makes traveling a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is mellow and not a lot of lines. Of course it only has selected flights, but you can always manage your destinations with their schedules. Wish all airports could be this easy to deal with.

I love small Airports - due to their intimacy and ease of getting in and out! I recently visited Arcata-Eureka Airport - as I flew in and out from SFO - as part of a week long vacation in Northern California. Upon arrival, we deplaned onto the taxiway and walked into the Terminal - and the only baggage claim carousel is right there - right in front of you as you walk in the door. On the flight out of ACV, I checked in to United to check my bag, hit Ramone's Cafe for iced coffee and bottled water, and then went upstairs to the Observation Lounge to chill and waste time on my notebook computer - until it was time to board. The Gate area (post TSA security checkpoint) has restrooms and vending machines, and plenty of seating - but nothing else - no cafes, restaurants, etc. It's to small to support such an set up. #ArcataEurekaAirport #ACV

Arcata Airport! Worst location for an airport ever!! Built during World War II for practicing landing in the fog! Today it's a headache for me! Although the security lines, customer service, and getting in/out of the airport is 5 stars! Damn you mother nature!!

No other options in the area. 1 terminal. 1 airline that goes in and out of it. Wouldn't use it if there were other options

That being said, I recently had to fly to southern cal and it was a necessity so I endured. Also, please bear with me on my lengthiness but the details are worth sharing... Did not even get started and running late by over an hour right off the bat just confirmed again why I loathe commercial flying. Finally make my first leg to have mere minutes to make my other flight (24 gates away and a different terminal) so I run and I mean run the whole way just to barely make my next flight. Now we sit and sit and sit, only to be told that the plane we're on is broken and we must change planes 12 gates away. Finally make it into SNA with less than 2 minutes to spare before the curfew starts at that airport better late than never. Now my return, even worse - get to the airport early, get to my gate with literally an hour to spare. Now this flight is delayed by over 4 hours making me miss my entire connection home in SFO. So now I have to leave the secure area which requires rescreening again and try to reschedule my entire return trip. It gets even worse, not only does it put me back by five hours I now have lost my first class seating and premier access because of their mistake as there is no way to accommodate me and what I paid extra for. So instead of being home in 5 hours, now I must endure what I consider the most blatant disregard for the passenger overall. Thank god my wife travels a lot and has passes and upgrades galore, for if not I would be just an average customer. There is finally customer service at SNA in the United Club (so if you're joe average customer in "basic economy" forget about help) there I was told of all kinds of ways possible home but none from there that evening only at LAX was the last flight of the night a few hours away so I take a shot at it get me on the plane. I actually had better and quicker results using my own damn app on my phone while in route via Lyft and was able to upgrade my ticket and seat assignment easily for additional money, and of course there was. Now I make it to and through security and make it to gate and wait for about 75 minutes or so and the start of the stated boarding time has come and gone and nothing. Next the pilot comes out to the counter and says there is a delay with the weather of at least 4-5 hours. Wtf? I know better it's already late past 21:00 hours. As I'm walking away from the gate call for a ride and make I way out of LAX where sheer chaos ensues. Head back to the hotel and get on my app, change my reservation and seats one more freakin time. Thank god for the app. A whole day later, Uber my way back to LAX again, through security one more time and finally to the designated gate and finally get home via SFO... this only confirmed ~ Nothing has changed in the 18 plus years since the last time I've flown commercially. It still a stressful way to travel really nothing enjoyable about it. If you're not willing or able to buy the "upgraded" forget about basic human interaction with the help. On top of it all even if you are willing to pay extra money for a certain level of comfort while using this method of travel there are no guarantees of said services and not having it honored really blows on a multiple of levels. It just reiterated in my mind why I loathe commercial flying. Drive, ride a bike, take the train, hell hitchhike it's faster... 1.5 Stars there are much better ways to travel imho rounded up for just making it home 00609

Usually it takes me anywhere from 12-14 hours to drive from my home in So Cal to N. Humboldt County and I arrive exhausted. Not anymore - time in the air is about 1 hour 20 minutes. It's so smart that they charge more to carry on then to check a bag - smoother boarding and exiting the plane. We only had a few people carry on so there was no annoying wait for people to wrestle their stuff into or out of the overhead. Seems like the low price had me overlook anything that might be a negative. I liked that you can pay for what's important to you. Hopefully they keep the pricing structure as is. Super low base fare and you pay for add-ons Like if you want to choose your seat; the seats toward the front have more leg room then the seats in the back and they cost more. Next time I won't pay to choose and I'll just let the airline assign me a seat - it's such a short flight and you never know , you might get a assigned a seat near the front!

The ticket is one price, then you pay more for the seat, another fee for luggage and so on.

She was on time, and she would have walked me to my door after the surgery, but I was required to have a friend take time from their job to pick me up after surgery or from any procedure where I had to be asleep. Dealing with out of the country people answering the phone and seeing the bad reviews here I made sure I called three times to confirm in advance, including the day before. These out of the country answering services are difficult to understand, so one has to say each letter with a word. For instance, D for David, r for Randy, etc and ask them to speak slowly and precisely for us to understand their strong foreign accents. Then, I ask them to repeat each thing I say back to me. After the struggle with communications, if they arrived even 10 minutes late, I was prepared to drive myself in my own car and pay somebody to drive me to pick up my car the following day rather than be late. To my surprise it all went very smoothly, as it always did in the past with City Cab. Once the lovely and personable lady driving City Cab arrived exactly on time to pick me up, it was like night and day from the answering service in the Philippians or ?. This very nice City Cab driver seemed familiar to me. Perhaps I got this same excellent City Cab driver years before for a ride to another medical surgery or procedure. I will continue to use City Cab in the future. However, I will continue to confirm twice or three times before (always writing down each name ~ making them spell it) as I hate that the USA has outsourced our phone jobs to other countries making it more challenging for us to understand what they are saying.
