Have you ever seen the movie What Dreams May Come? Well taking a bike around the 5 mile remodeled park at Sunset reminds me of when Robin Williams is reunited with his wife after going through the depths of Hell and entering Nirvana. Peace & Tranquility is what I feel while I bike this park. Paved roads lead the way and the man made lake takes in a view with plenty of birds, and ducks strolling along. Families walk, bike, run together and you can just take it all the pleasantries that this life has to offer. In the middle of the park, there is a bill hill with metal porch swings to take in the views of the great Houston City. You can also often find several fitness individuals sprinting up the hill to achieve their leg day goals. There are two bridges in which you'll find avid fishermen trying to get their catch of the day. There's no doubt about the harmony that this park can provide so I definitely recommend it when you have to take a break from this busy bee busting world!

Suspicious vehicle. Sat for over 3hrs at the far end of the driveway area facing West. Paper plates/pink plate holder.

Alert! Alert! Alert! On Saturday, August 11, 2018 between the 12pm-1pm hour my SUV was burglarized. They stole my wallet & hit up Target, Randall's & Krogers during that time. My husband got his 1st call from CitiBank shortly after I had arrived at the park to go walking on the trail (opposite side of the playground area) which means I was probably being watched. I was parked along the curb facing West past the first fire hydrant and middle median. There were only a few cars. Surveillance cameras showed a black Male & heavy set Hispanic Male in the self check-out area buying gift cards. (We were only told this by Loss Prevention in Target since WE are not allowed to see the video) They were successful in several transactions. We called Precinct 5 & filed a report. The NEXT DAY around the same time I went by there (before heading to the gym this time) to warn anybody else that happened to be in the stages of going to walk/bike/run, & I was only able to speak to what I thought was a single female in a black little Ford Focus looking car with paper plates and a pink license plate holder. There was a male in the passenger seat when she rolled her window down, and they just acted kind of funny when I spoke to them, but I let it slide...maybe they thought I was strange, but the guy never looked my way. 3hrs later I returned to the park with my son to allow him to play at the playground, and that same vehicle was there with those same 2 people sitting inside parked a little further down towards the end. They saw me drive by them because I was trying to make sure, and then I drove back around and parked a distance behind them to try and get a picture of the vehicle. Sorry, but nobody just sits in their car for 3 hours at this end of the park for nothing...in this humidity & heat too??!! No. I just got a funny feeling about it. I left to go home & allow my husband to go to work, but I asked him to run by the park real quick since we live very close to see if that vehicle was still there because I was going to report the suspicious vehicle. He called to tell me they were gone. I did not want to give the park less stars because of that because you have to be vigilant wherever you go, and this can happen anywhere. I just want to warn everyone to make sure you lock your doors and to keep your valuables hidden or out of sight or on your person. Also, don't park too far down at the end.

This park is a beauty! There's a nice size kids area, restrooms, hills for running and great trails that go different ways around the lake. LOTS of nature and bird watching around you as well. For those who fish... you have plenty of areas to set up and catch what you can! The only con about this park is that the parking lot is small on the Eldridge side. Cars parallel park along the street once full. And I would suggest more benches around the trails for sunset viewings.

Can't believe I didn't do a review on this park yet. It's my absolutely one of my favorite parks we typically do both Loops and full loops around the hills. my son now goes fishing there with his dad. when we're not fishing we take a break on the second hill. There is benches and swing benches it's beautiful.People fly kites on the hill. We saw analligator there before. After a flood a couple of years ago water emerged on shore to the trail and we had to figure it out how to get around it. That's when we saw the alligator. The people are friendly more everyday people not so boogie. If you do both loops and both heels you would have completed 5 miles. Occasionally there is dog owners with no leash that's my pet peeve. I don't agree with electric leashes either because I understand that's for aggressive dogs and if your dogs aggressive I don't feel comfortable either. My mom was bit by a dog protecting me from it while walking to my aunts house. I had to have been 12 maybe. The dog jumped off it's short fence the breed was a child. Years later my mom formed gain green gas in the leg Because it never really healed and she must of got Clorox in the bruising while had washing our clothes. She had to get her leg amputated. So I have a personal problem with unleashed dogs. So if you reading this please put your dogs on a visible leash..

    Beautiful fragrant flowers

I love this park. It started out with just the little trail where the playground and restrooms are. Now it expanded. There's different pathways. You can choose a short path, a medium path, or a long path. It's very peaceful along the waters. The wildlife and wild plants are incredible. This park is still expanding. Expect more of it soon.

It's so clean and I absolutely love all the wild flowers this time of year. This is one of the best place to bike in the inner loop with the separated biking and pedestrian trails. Connects to the heights and all major neighborhoods. A lovely place to get a walk or bike ride in on the evenings or weekends! There are quite a few manicured grass spots for picnics or to bring a book, as well as shaded areas. I have always felt very safe at this park. A 'not so hidden' gem as parking can be a little tough, but leads to not very busy trails. I never realized how beautiful this park is compared to the days I would only drive by!

In a city that is known for tearing down and paving over so much of our history, it is wonderful that this was saved and has been made into a place that visitors can visit and experience. I went with some friends from Kingwood on a Photo Walk of the area, we were lucky that the light and sound experience was still going on, each column in the cistern has LED lighting that changes to the tune of some aethereal music playing silently, the acoustics of the cistern make it sound so beautiful and mesmerizing. When you purchase your ticket online you choose one of the available times, upon entry they give you 30 minutes, the time passed quickly. Be ready if you are taking pictures or better yet, a video. Smart phones work great but you might consider turning off auto focus and just focusing manually if you know how because when it gets dark for a moment and then the lights come on most cameras auto focus has to search for focus so it goes in and out of focus. When you leave, there is a skateboard park up above and worth some time for taking pictures of the acrobatic skating going on.

Here and there, I spotted a delicate cherry blossom and a few early blooms, though I wish I had visited at the peak of flower season. The garden itself is exquisitely designed and every corner seems crafted for peace, and I truly enjoyed the calm atmosphere. It felt like a small escape from the city hustle. That said, I did notice the cleanliness was a bit of an issue; the garden could definitely use some extra care to keep it pristine. Another small drawback was the restroom situation. There are only two available, and both were quite busy, so I ended up waiting a while and eventually decided it wasn't worth it. Still, the park draws a lovely crowd with people come to stroll, reflect, and soak in the beauty. If I'm in Houston again at a better time, I'll absolutely return to see the garden in full bloom. It has so much potential, and with a little more attention to detail, it could be a true hidden gem.
