I had a blast practicing with my bow today. The customers sharing the range were very laid back and cool. The range itself was clean, user-friendly and spacious. The staff were so wonderful to chat with and were very willing to help with all of my questions. I noticed Yelper Vestin D. stated that he was "greeted immediately by a friendly gentleman with an AWESOME beard." I, too, was greeted by Mr. Friendly-Beard. I promise to get his name and update my posting ASAP because he deserves to be recognized by name! Secretly, I think he's one of the Duck Dynasty boys. The staff is incredible. Literally every single person was incredibly helpful and willing to take the time to break everything down Barney style for a person with essentially zero prior experience shooting a bow. From the body mechanics to the breakdown of the bow and components. I went from knowing zero to consistently hitting at 20 yards in less than three hours. The facility itself is great. My Son also shot a bow for the first time and now he won't stop asking to go shoot. This place and the staff gave my Son and I a newfound love and appreciation for something we can share for a lifetime. I cannot recommend this place enough. I show up to this place with my new bow, hoping to learn and purchase a couple new things. I ask if they have traditional bow stringers, and they do. I purchase one. The "technician" who sells me the bow stringer then attempts to string my bow. He is unable to using the product he sold me. He tells me my bowstring is of the incorrect length. I politely tell him that I measured it and the guy at cabelas (where I bought it from) had no problem putting it on. He says in a annoyed tone "Im not gonna argue with you" and then he takes my bowstring in the back and tells me its "way off" and to "go back to cabelas and get a new string". I say ok, then drive 35 minutes back to cabelas with my purchased bowstringer and apparently the inappropriate string. I get to cabelas, the string is of the correct length and we measure it with multiple tools. They guy behind the counter at cabelas then easily strings my bow with the bow stringer I purchased at archery country....he just used both feet instead of one. We put 15 arrows downrange no issue. (I still have no issues with this string, its the AMO recommended length, 4 inches shorter than your bow length) It offends me that the "professional technician" at archery country didnt even know how to use A. The bow stringer that he sold me. B. A ruler. AND he was rude. He didnt even bother to double check the length, he just tried once and sent me on a pointless hour long journey. Seems like a nice facility, but I demand I little more service and respect. i was very polite and friendly and I was treated like I wasnt worth their time. read more

Tried Archery Country this weekend, never before used a bow of any kind. Signed up for a couple's lesson taken with my girlfriend (who also had never used a bow) with Matt. I think I'd equate the benefit of taking a lesson before shooting to skiing. It is totally more pleasurable if one does the lesson before jumping off. The archery was way more fun that I ever expected. And a good deal of that was the instructor skill and enjoyment that Matt brought too it. The hour flew by. And both of us would like to go again. I have been into archery for about 2 years now and It is definitely one of my favorite hobbies, whether it be shooting around, or hunting. I decided it was time to upgrade from my current bow, and I fell in love with the Mathews jewel. Since Archery country is the only retailer in the Austin area, I went to them. I found the one I wanted & put it on layaway. I went back a couple weeks later to make a payment and I decided to switch the bow for one that had different accents, and different poundage limbs. The boss/manager (or whatever he is) took down the information on the new bow and said it would probably take about 3 weeks to get in. I called them about 4 weeks later to see if it had arrived, and the salesperson told me no. About 5 minutes later they called me back and said "yes, it is here". I went in the next weekend to pick It up, and they pulled a different bow out of the back. I told them that it wasn't the right one, and they apologized and grabbed one off the shelf to set up for me. Unfortunately, the only ones they had in stock were a lower poundage, and not what I wanted. 1st they tried to get me to take one of them to avoid having to order the other one, and I told them I would rather wait and get what I wanted. They promised to get the Mathews rep on the phone and try to expedite the process, and offered $50 off the bow for the mix up (which only made it the same price as everywhere else I had checked). So I reluctantly agreed and left without the bow. As I got to my car, the salesperson followed me out and said that his " boss" wanted to check that I could "EVEN pull 50 pounds before they ordered it, because most women cant pull heavier weights" and they don't want to get stuck with something they cant sell. Are you kidding me?! I wouldn't be special ordering something, and spending over $1000 on something if I wasn't sure that's what I wanted! I asked for my money back and headed 100 miles in the opposite direction just to get away from their mess. read more

First time into the store: Greeted immediately by a friendly gentleman with an AWESOME beard. I'm bringing in the twenty-year-old bow my friend just gave to me, to see what needs to be done to get it back to good condition. The gentleman inspects the bow, and determines the string is still good. AWESOME POINT NUMBER 2... not trying to be sold something that I don't need/honest staff whose primary directive is customer satisfaction. He noticed that one of the prongs that holds the arrow is missing, and another employee says that he thinks there may be one in the back. After looking, they find one and he without hesitation or consultation of the price book, installs it onto my bow! After making sure everything was leveled out, he hands the bow back to me. NO CHARGE. THAT, my friends, is good customer service. I buy some field tips because I need them (and to console myself for taking their time and not wanting to just walk out) and head out. Overall a fantastic first experience with a great shop and awesome people. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Also, Colt McCoy was there, right beside me at the counter. Myself and two friends all bought bows for fun and sport. We are all basically beginners and came in together to look at the bows and test drive them, so to speak. We all decided on the same bow, but they did not have the color we wanted in stock. Jordan determined our starting specs, draw length and weight. When the bows came in they were set-up for each of us. When we came in to pick them up we were given individual instruction and minor adjustments were made to the bows. We also learned about the differences in the arrows. We then purchased arrows that were cut to length for each of us. Jordan, Tommy, and Chase were awesome! By the time we left we were all comfortable and knowledgeable about our bows and how to use them safely. You don't get that kind of service and the typical sporting goods stores! I also did quite a bit of price comparing before and after the sale. Archery Country prices are just as good, in some cases better, than the big box sporting goods stores. You also get 5 hours of free range time with the purchase of a new bow. We will be back even after our 5 hours is used up. Being indoors at an awesome range is well worth the range fee of $10 an hour. We are all sold on Archery Country. Don't waste your time going anywhere else. read more

I started compound bow shooting about 1 yr and a half ago. Being new to archery I bought bow online and went to Archery Country to have my bow fitted to me. Knowing what kind of bow they sell I called first to see if they can work on mine and they said they work on any bow. As I get there, there were 3 employees at the counter. I believe one of them waz the owner. I tell them what i need done then open my bow case as they huddled around it. As soon as they saw my bow they took off like possums! After seeing my bow the customer service vanished. I guess not having a Hoyt or Matthews bow I wasnt worth the time! After i was fitted I asked to have my bow paper tuned as I saw the sign there. The tech said my boy could be tuned bcuz of my rest. I then said I would buy a drop away rest from them and then he made another excuse not to tune it. Why do you say yall work on other bows and then are so rude? Dont yall know yall lose potential customers! Well a few months ago I got a good deal on a Hoyt bow and went back to Archery Country to have them work on it. What a difference it is if you have a Hoyt! I waz treated like a king!!! After all the work that waz done i was only charged $5.00! That really made me sick being new to archery and see how these arrogant bow techs treat customers. Im not bashing Hoyt or Matthews! Im bashing Archery Country! I like all bows and plan to buy another Hoyt but I will not definately buy anything from Archery Country!!!! Bunch of arrogant people!!! read more

I received my bow from a manufacturer in a the box and took it to bass pro to get my loop placed on the string properly. After 100 shots they untied themselves. So I took it here to archery country and I have not had an issue. The guys behind the counter were friendly and did a great job. read more

Really personal service from the owner down to the hourly employee. They spent the time to understand what I was looking for, what physically fit me, and what I was prepared to spend. I actually considered purchasing something slightly cheaper online; however these guys provided me a service by helping me narrow down the right bow for me. Amazon.com wouldn't measure my draw length nor let me fire a couple of different bows. I had a real pleasant afternoon at their shop & range.
