Explaining how to operate the pedal kayak. Thank you guys, all of our kids had a blast!
    Josh P.

We ended up coming here twice in the same weekend because we had such a great experience! We have 5 young kids and the crew here did an amazing job of making sure everyone had a blast. The equipment was well maintained, the prices very reasonable, and the best people you could want. If you are thinking about a rental, definitely come here!

We rented Kayaks from APK and it was such a great time. The kayak was comfy and worked so great. The stuff btw is also super sweet and nice. We had a small problem and they helped us out no questions it was so great. Must HELP THIS COMPANY OUT. GREAT PLACE. Thank you so much to Zack to the owner (I believe) he was awesome!

Awesome prices and lots of fun! Rented two pedal kayaks and was able to put one kid on each. Very easy to pedal and the kids even got to play on the lily pad! They loved it!

Our family has been several times and we always have a great time! The owners are super friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend!

The majority of the property is covered by an expansive patio area, perfect for groups. They have a number of large tables, small tables and even chaise lounge chairs - whatever makes you comfortable! We arrived later in the night just as the live band was wrapping up but there were many of people out back watching the World Cup game. In terms of drinks, I got the skinny rabbit margarita and it was fantastic. It far exceeded my (admittedly, low) expectations. It had a mint accent which was delicious, and combined with a tajin rim, the perfect summer drink. Don't worry, if you don't like mint, they will happily leave it out. My friends got an espresso martini, customized without baileys or dairy, and enjoyed it for a bar that doesn't seem like they would even have espresso martinis. One odd note that I did notice is that the handwashing sink for the restrooms is outside of the restroom and around the corner both inside and outside. At first I thought that they did not have handwashing sinks and was confused but noticed them once I left. Hopefully people remember to do this when they leave!!

Honestly, some of the worst I've ever received at any establishment. Common to sit at a table for thirty minutes+ before anyone even greets you, or wow...serve you. Be prepared to sit and watch the waitresses hangout with other tables and chit chat away. Catch their eye and wave them over, perhaps? Sure, but you're still going to have to wait until they're ready. The outdoor tabletops are always filthy. Yay for me for being so tolerant and prepared based on previous visits, I always make sure to carry wet wipes. Once again, when finished, the cloth was covered with brown dirt and food remains. The food is right on par with public high school cafeteria fare. No. Actually, maybe middle school quality. Funky tasting burgers. Meh. Anything and everything fried tastes exactly the same. I don't think they've changed the oil in since they opened many years ago. No joke. I can't help to feel a little bit sad as this is probably the most scathing review I've ever written. I LOVE to support local and small, BUT RHB&T frankly needs to be better and do better. I'm OWTA. Don't recommend. :(

Without hesitation, they both pointed me to Donn's Depot. They were absolutely right. From the moment I walked in, the place felt authentic. Not curated. Not trendy. Just a room full of people genuinely enjoying one another. The bartender was friendly, the regulars immediately welcomed a complete stranger to their table, and before long I was swapping stories with some of the kindest people I've met in a long time. Murphy's In-Laws were fantastic. Their musicianship was outstanding, and after I asked about a James Taylor song, they dusted off Steamroller--a song they hadn't played in years--and performed it like they had played it during warm-ups. Definitely not for the "first time in 15 years." They threw in "Shower the People" for me afterward! Donn's is one of those local favorites that is unforgettable because it provides moments you can't plan. One thing to know before you go: they don't serve meals, but they do have complimentary popcorn (which was great to discover if you haven't eaten anything prior to liquor)! What stayed with me most wasn't just the music. It was the hospitality. A stranger (who overheard my desire to hear Steamroller) quietly paid for my song request. A table of regulars pulled up a chair and made room for me. No one asked why I was there by myself. They simply welcomed me and nick-named me, "San Antonio." From a mic. If you're looking for polished nightlife, this may not be your place--but you probably need to go anyway. If you're looking for authentic Austin, genuine people, excellent live music, and an evening that reminds you how kind strangers can be, don't miss Donn's Depot. Keep Austin Great, y'all!

The authentic but repurposed train station opened in 1972. In fact, a vintage railcar serves as an elevated viewing area of the dance floor, and you may want to check out the women's caboose. Literally, the depot has a caboose for a restroom! Going on a Friday night, we paid the $10 cover and it was a little crowded, but there were a few seats at the picnic tables in the wrap-around patio and I managed to step on only a few feet on the small dance floor, dancing to Donn and his Station Masters playing honky-tonk soul, western swing, and rock and roll covers.
