The sweet tea was really watered down the beef and broccoli tasted like Chamoy. It was not a good experience.

Customer service, food quality and price was by far the worst. Train your employees to ask if customers would like buffet or menu rather than assuming everyone wants the buffet. Waiter was also the worst and be more professional when it comes to working with ppl, lost the attitude and maybe I would have left a tip. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The waiter seemed to have an attitude throughout the meal and did not ask thorough questions when taking our order, which led to confusion. The beef fried rice was not what we expected and did not meet our expectations in terms of quality and flavor. We were only checked on twice for refills during the entire visit, which made it difficult to get assistance when needed. I noticed a lot of new people here.I usually don't care for buffet because of the sanitary issues. So what I did was I ordered off the menu to avoid anything with the buffet. First of all , we were seated next to a table with children all wearing masks , and they were all coughing throughout the whole meal. Our server brought us our drinks and asked if we wanted egg drop soup with our dishes that we ordered off the menu we told her.Yes , she then went over to the buffet and got our soup and brought them to our table. Strike one. She then offered to clear plates off of the table next to us with the coughing children and took them into the back area and quickly returned with our order. Obviously she did not wash her hands. Strike two. She cleared more tables around us , including the table next to us with the coughing children and came over to my table and offered to refill my water. I picked up my cup myself so she could pour from her pitcher , but she grabbed my cup from my grasp and filled the cup and placed it back down. Strike three. I know , busing tables is time consuming and she was probably helping them out because I did see a busser there , but just thinking about all the dirty plates she was handling, and then coming to serve us our food and touching our cups just did not sit well with me. I ordered Won Ton soup for delivery about 6 months ago & I remember the won tons were over cooked & mushy. I like fried rice, theirs would be a good base for DIY fried rice, it has no vegetables or egg. Add these & a protein & you can expect some decent fried rice! Ordered for pick up. Everything seemed routine. Food was tasting okay until I got a forkful of cockroach. Roach that was cooked into the food. As with other Chinese restaurants in the Four Corners area, the main cuisine of Arches is Mandarin cuisine based. However, I noticed that when it comes to sauces, this restaurant favors sweet and sour sauce; it seemed to be everywhere. It was available as a condiment. At the buffet serving tables, it was included in such dishes as "Beef with Broccoli" and "General Tso Chicken"; the actual "Sweet and Sour Chicken" was so saturated in the sauce, it was a goopy mess. The first two dishes mentioned are normally in a brown sauce, but not at Arches. The individual serving units were one quarter to half full with many other dishes, with the sauces congealing, and a skin forming over whatever dishes they covered; or the vegetables were obviously limp from sitting over the steaming tables. The fried rice and pork lo mein were kept piled high with fresh servings, as was the fruit table. The restaurant was busy, so there was no reason why the food was not refreshed as it ran low. For the dishes I tried, I found the food to be mediocre, at best, and lacking in seasoning. The saving grace for Arches hot food was the spring and egg rolls; crispy on the outside and the cabbage filling was finely shredded, so easier to bite into and eat in small portions. The sweet and sour sauce plus hot mustard were a great accompaniment for these. The fruit table contained many varieties, all tasting and looking fresh. All in all, the price for the buffet is reasonable, especially if you're not picky about the quality. read more

Update on my previous review. I've increased rating from two to three stars. There have been big improvements here since my last visit. It looks like they've remodeled, and the interior looks 100% better then it did before. Modern and clean now. The service has also improved greatly. The staff today were all friendly and very prompt. Food is decent, it's not what you'd expect judging the from the outside. It's not as great as it looks. They have a wide range of food on the menu and a typical buffet. I imagine that's the money maker, the buffet, since the waitress kept pushing us toward the buffet. I'm not a huge buffet person so I usually order from the menu. They take a very long time to make a dish from the menu...I guess that's why they push for the buffet. The place is dark and messy. For one, the portions are huge and you get to walk away with leftovers. The food is fresh, hot, and worth the wait. I found the reviews surprising because they are always busy. Most people eat the buffet here but we have always ordered off the menu and never had a complaint.
