Today I am 61 days sober, that may not seem like much but that number is only growing and I have to…read moregive Beachcombers a massive thank you. When I arrived (after detox) I was nervous and very guarded, my stomach was in knots. I was welcomed in with open arms and that feeling of unease ended extremely quickly, I almost immediately felt like I belong, like family...which is something I never really had. My stay at beachcomber had such a profound effect on me as a person, that my life right now at only 61 days...has already become a far better life than I had thought possible. When I initially began this process (and even halfway through lol) I was extremely bullheaded, skeptical and so untrusting that I doubted everything they said however, not one single time did I feel judged in any way! The therapist and staff were really patient with me and understanding, they gave me time to figure it out myself and I and so thankful they did. What I didn't realize was that I was fighting myself, not them lol It wasn't until I stopped fighting and convinced myself that maybe they are right, maybe I can't do this on my own, that my entire experience turned around. I will never forget my first experience with Saundra, I remember walking away upset lol! Saundra will establish dominance and so she should! Saundra became my therapist for a short time during Thanksgiving. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect with her but within moments, I felt better. My sessions with her were the most uplifting and empowering sessions I've ever had. She feels like a caring mom, she won't let you dwell and you can tell that she really does care. Saundra gave my the approval and motivation that I needed to come home and turn my life around. Most people who struggle with addiction need that level of humbling, structure, that mother-like love and discipline. I now understand why she is the way she is and I am so thankful! Most addicts like myself are used to people enabling us and getting mad when they don't. We tend to be prideful, as if we know it all lol they will bump heads with your pride...they need to do that. They're fighting the thing that is trying to kill you so needless to say you will not find an enabler at this place!!! What you'll find is the care of a former addict, the therapist here have all been in recovery for a long time. This gives them the ability to actually understand and know what it's like from experience not textbook. Personally, I say...you can't help anyone through something unless you've walked in your shoes and they have all been there and done that!! Rapid trama therapy with Val was life changing, she makes you feel completely at ease and by the time the season was complete, I felt a new type of energy a "can do" energy. This place is run just like a big loving happy family, everyone contributes and works together, it was a wonderful experience. I would highly suggest them to anyone who had enough and wants to live a better life all you need is an open mind and desire for change. They'll walk you through the rest! Good luck

The…read morestaff is mismanaged as it always took two or three tries to get anything done.. the owners also do not keep their word and bait and switch you! Worst of all I I was subject to a hate crime And was totally brushed off. No video watched... No witnesses interviewed. I had to check out and deal with law-enforcement on my own.! I was even told I was not allowed to call the police! Additionally, I believe they committed a HIPAA violation by giving out information to someone that was not authorized. I am investigating that now. Caused me lots of issues when I got home.. Not saying this is the worst place for everybody... But it was for me!! Just sayin!

They were deception and called my husband back home and told him that I could not continue treatment unless he sent $4,000 immediately. I had excellent insurance which would pay 85% of my bill and I would pay 15%. We should have never been directly contacted to pay anything. It should have gone to our insurance and they would pay 85% of the bill and I would pay the remaining 15%. Our insurance was not notified by BeachesTreatment Center about about my husband paying the $4000 so I still ended up paying 15% of my total bill. Beaches Treatment did not deduct the $4,000 from what I owed them. Also, when they took the patients out for a movie at a local theater, we all had to wear Tee Shirts with Beaches Treatment Center printed on them in bold letters. It was embarrassing and I suspect a HIPA violation. They would only allow me to speak to my family on speaker phone with their representatives listening to both sides of our conversation. I was treated like a captive. I can only say that the therapists did try to do a good job with the clients, but everything else was a horrible nightmare.

They lied to our family about location, restfulness, facility items, etc., it is in a very rough area, they lied about access to accommodations and personal items like vitamins and natural care items like heating pad. after six days I never saw a doctor or therapist and it was only supposed to be a two week to four week program. Time waster. They said it was for healing and rest and many patients were there in detox state for addiction and not in a mindset for healing and actually abusing with outbursts with staff and patients making things hostile and abusive and other patients had to help them and the staff would even rely on the patients to do it and call them to help intervene. While there people were feeling so abused they were leaving because it was making them worse. The trust was broken immediately due to the fraudulent lies they tell to get you there. That was common with all patients. Those detoxing were wanting an addiction program but it was not provided...they were just filling beds. People with medical conditions are left in pain and only offered Tylenol or ibuprofen and if you can't take those it is heavy meds before alternative solutions. After six days, and vitamins and supplements being authorized by the nurse practitioner, it was never dispensed. They make up rules and it is subjective to the nurse or tech and they are not consistent. The only way to get help is to escalate and threaten to leave. some people have the rules enforced while others don't. It is not consistent. I was in crisis and the staff isolated me and I asked them to call the police they were snarky and provoking saying I could leave when I wanted so I'd did with nothing. . I didn't feel safe and they wouldn't help me so I walked out and hitchhiked to get my family to help me I live in the Midwest they take your ID and credit card and do not give you access so you have no resources. they say if you leave they will hold all of your property for 48 hours to scare you into staying. no one advocates for you. they listen and cry with you and then nothing changes. The man who gave me a ride allowed me to use his phone and let my family know. The closest hotel told me my family couldn't get me in until I paid a cash deposit but I had no credit card or identification because they keep them instead of allowing you to lock it in a drawer in your room. When I had to go back i wanted a police officer again, but but they brought all of my things to the curb before a police person came, my phone was so low it was going to shut off and they said because they gave me my stuff and discharge paperwork, they could not call me an uber or give me a ride to the airport because I refused to be locked down at another hospital, that I was on my own. It was dark and my phone was dying. my trust was so broken and could not go to any other facility and believe I would be more abused. they said dignity and respect are how you should be treated but being left on a curb with my things in a garbage bag and no help and without a phone was demeaning, scary, and abusive and not respectful. The man I hitchhiked with was the only kind one. standing on the curb with my belongings just carelessly thrown in bags and a garbage bag, my phone not working, and having to ask a stranger for help as he rode by on a bike. they handed me discharge paperwork and then told me I was going to be able to use the over-the-counter arnica I bought at Walmart, after they told me they had to confiscate it...they went through everything when I got there, put it in my locker, and then acted like they had to be consistent for safety on day six by taking my only arthritis relief...since I never got any other items that were supposedly authorized now they were taking the only item I had for managing my pain on some level. it was not consistent and there was no timely care to assist. They told staff not to let me use it because I had another in my locker and it was authorized!!! but then out on the curb later they said I was wrong and they were going to let me...gaslighting...like all of the abuse and neglect of care didn't happen for six days. gaslighting. they act like it's all good and you are the problem for advocating for yourself. other patient had been there for upwards of 10 days with the same experience...this is beyond neglect it's cruel and unusual punishment. My family managed to get me an uber to the airport and I bought a ticket less than an hour before the plane left. I am home now had nightmares all night, it's more pain and trauma. Please, have compassion and do not send a loved one here. They will blame you as they did me and write another narrative.

After speaking with Daylight and Flyland, they gave me all of the information I needed to feel safe sending my loved one here, and he was excited to go to treatment and get the help that he desperately needed. Our family was able to attend the family support group while he was in care, and it greatly helped us to let go of some of the anger and guilt we all felt around his drug use. He is still sober, and we cannot put into words how grateful we are for Flyland and Daylight and the profound change that has taken place within our family.

They are shortstaffed they never help when you need. They basically suspended the PHP program and kicked us all out. All they care about is money. I was there for about two months and my insurance covered every week and now they sent me a $42,000 bill saying I was never in network if I was never in network they wouldn't have kept me there that long but I will be hiring a lawyer for that unless they decide to fix it. They don't give a shit if you're hungry and you run out of food. The staff flirts with the clients which is unprofessional, and it was brought to the higher-ups attention and nothing was done. Half these people on these reviews aren't even real. I'll be leaving another review. Please do not believe they refused. They force people to do them when they leave. Don't be fooled by them. I could never work for a company who cheats people and does insurance fraud. Also, please do not listen to admissions everything they tell you is a complete lie. I had written two reviews when I was still there and I was forced by the higher-ups to delete them. All they care about is looking good is my point there's a lot of other good treatment centers to go to I would really do my research.
