I went to get some Cigarettes and a big bottle of water today. Three of my credit card was declined and I had to pay cash. I called the credit card companies and they said it was never going through and not showing in transaction that was declined from the credit card company. I went to Arco website and call the 800 number and it would prefer to email them. Therefore, I search Yelp and find out that they do not accept credit card from the reviews. I asked the cashier how do people pay. He said, cash, debit and credit. This make me wonder. It is just a very bad experience. read more

When you run out of gas on the 101 and have to be rescued by a Public Works truck, you're pretty happy to get to the very next gas station. When the pump won't stay on by itself and you have to hold it in place until your hand cramps, you're back to annoyed. So in fairness, three stars makes sense. read more

If you're looking for a gas station, and you're tank is almost empty, perhaps you should go to this gas station although they only accept debit cards and cash according to the other reviews. There doesn't seem to be much to chose from around this area although it's right by the freeway. Wouldn't it suck to run out of gas in a place like this? Cues music from a horror movie. This review is ONLY for the am/pm store. The other day I drove all the way to Redwood City for a last minute temp job at night. I arrived there early and I was really tired, so I needed to get some coffee. According to the yelp app, there were no coffee shops that were that close by. The ones that were nearby were closed, ugh! So I went to this place which was actually only a few minutes away from where I was. Fortunately, they had hot non decaf coffee there! It's super hot, so be careful! It was so hot that I couldn't drink it right away. I had to rush back to the job site. I left the coffee in the car and when I got back about an hour later, it was still really warm! That was great! They also have some interesting powdered flavors such as graham cracker, and flavored syrups. There is a decent selection of drinks and snacks here including individual snack sized pieces of candy by the register. One of the slim jim sticks that I got was past it's expiration date, it was the long thin one, but the small one was fine. So check the expiration dates on items here. read more

Say it ain't so?! Am I really the first person to review this gas station that has been around forever in Belmont? Hand's down, it is my favorite gas station in the area due to it's convenience and easy access to Hwy 101. Although I try to avoid Hwy 101 at all costs during morning (and occasionally evening) rush hours, sometimes you just have to man-up and endure the hairy traffic. Other than those crazy commute times, this Arco AM/PM tends to be one of the most inexpensive gas stations in Belmont AND they have a great convenience/snack shop - perfect for those quick red bull's and tiger milk bars right before a run, work-out, or dance. It's a little out of the way since I'm right off of 92 & 280 but it's worth the trek down the hill & back up again. Another plus is that it's neighbors with the Belmont Post Office and 1/2 a mile from my favorite Belmont Safeway and Starbucks. I would give it 5 Stars but it doesn't have a car wash. read more

I've been coming here for years and today I got screamed at for putting coffee Over a cup of ice and was told I was being refused service and I could never come back. Mind you, my family owns businesses and gas stations and at that point, you would just charge for the cup of ice and coffee separately. I will NOT be coming back here ever. ARCO - Gas Stations Near Me - Belmont, California

I hate this place. I've NEVER hated a gas station before. I don't have a lot of requirements for a gas station...I just want to pump some gas and go on my merry way. I had a bad experience the first time I went to this place, but then I gave it another shot a few weeks later. It has a convenient location, so I wanted to give it another try. Now I'll never go back unless my life depends on it. Reasons why this place sucks: - They don't accept credit cards. - If you use a debit card, you're charged an additional ATM fee. - CASH is their preferred method of payment. Gas is so expensive these days....who carries around a wad of cash these days?! Also, you can't even pay at your pump. You have to walk over to a "pay station" to pay to your pump number. Inconvenient. This procedure isn't clearly stated either, so it's confusing for new customers. - Faulty pumps! After paying at the pay station, my pump wouldn't even start. I walked in and out of the convenient store a couple times to tell the attendant, who just said to "push the nozzle in all the way." Thanks, that hadn't even occurred to me....(ugh). After numerous attempts of "pushing it in all the way" and pulling the trigger on the nozzle (which, as others have mentioned, doesn't even have the latch to hold it in place) it STILL wouldn't pump my gas. So, I went back into the store to get a refund. Do yourself a favor, and drive down to the 76 at 699 Ralston Avenue for gas. read more

I accidentally typed in the wrong pump number and realized it after typing in my PIN when the screen said "Pump # 1 is ready." So I went inside to ask the cashier to cancel my transaction and to swipe my card for pump #12. He told me #1 was active and to just drive over, so I walked back to my car and drove to #1. It wasn't working. Then he turns on the loud speaker and says "Pump #1 your transaction was canceled. You need to swipe again." Why couldn't he just cancel my transaction instead of have me drive around from pump to pump? Its frustrating because I had asked him to cancel my transaction! read more

I had to stop at this gas station on my way to a job as it was the closest one & I was nearing empty. They only let you pay via debit card, which I thought was suspect but needed to buy gas. Mere minutes later there were thousands of dollars of charges on my debit card. Now my card is compromised & I cannot use it, access fund to my bank account & have to wait until the bank clears all the bogus charges. Did what I haven't done in a long while today - had 4 miles left in the tank so thought I wouldn't be able to make it to Costco. I thought it'd be safer to pop in here to top-up. Was given the run around about payment (first he says the 35c fee is credit card only, so I go fetch my debit card and the machine still wants to charge me) so I stormed out angrily. Arco is suppose to have cheap gas, but not this one; they charge 50 cent's more than the Arco off Delaware in San Mateo. I only went here once because I was about to run out of gas. It was 0500 in the morning and I drove out to get back on to Ralston. Little did I know they exit is one way street with just one warning sign between the Arco and Fire House. A cop was waiting for me around the corner to give me 230 dollar fine. The cop said I should be careful coming onto Ralston with the other cars. I thought what other cars it's 0500 in the morning you Idiot! The cops have a nice little business set up here where can get unsuspecting people a ticket over the only one way street in all of Belmont, that has only one little sign you can't even see. Stopped by on the way to the airport in a rental car on business for my employer. Took ten minutes to navigate into it plus ten minutes to navigate out of it during rush hour. No credit cards taken! Not allowed to use anything but credit cards on business trips. Waste of time. read more

this Arco gas station is CONSISTENTLY over priced compared to other Arco gas stations. They expect cash but they don't modify their prices to reflect the cash price. On many occasions I have seen their prices be the same as the 76 station or even higher. What's the incentive to pay cash if there isn't any? This AM/PM was 14 cents more expensive than even the shell/chevrons down the road off of the whipple exit, where there exists an AM/PM that was more than 20 cents cheaper per gallon. Additionally, this AM/PM had no latch for the pump handle, so you had to hold the pump the entire time. Compound that with the 35 cent ATM fee, and you have a really bad deal that's only ameliorated by this station's proximity to the highway. read more

I absolutely love this gas station. Very conveniently located next to the freeway. I live right around the corner and seriously go about 2-3 times a day. I know all the staff and they are all super friendly. Only downside is that they don't accept credit, only debit. They charge you a small fee to use debit, so unless you pay cash you have to pay the service fee which is annoying. Other than that I really love this place and the people that work there and will be a loyal customer until I die or move lol. read more

Completely remodeled but almost impossible to get in and out of easily. It has a nice big new flashy convenience store, but the location is so inconvenient they cancel each other out. I pulled in knowing that I didn't have enough gas to get back to SF and the gleaming bright lights and the newness of the pumps drew me in. I thought Arco was on the inexpensive end of the retail gas market? This place charged 26 cents more per gallon than 3 Arcos in The City! I needed a receipt for my records and the two clueless guys working were stumped because the computers were down. Even after I said that a hand-written one would suffice, they couldn't figure out how to do one and asked me if I could wait a few minutes until the computers came back on. If there was a sixth star I'd put it. The employees are very friendly. I've never had an issue with them. They know all the regulars by first name and the prices are reasonable! Gosh - Tiny little store but six pumps with nice wide aisles and a really high canopy for big trucks. Store is clean but always crowded because it's so darned small. Employees are very pleasant, and selection is fabulous. Why three stars? Because when I pull off the road with my head ringing from road noise and the beginnings of a migraine, the last thing I want to be confronted by is twelve (count 'em - 12!!) television screens SCREAMING nonsense at me while I pump my gas.
