Tonight, while paying cash, the late night attendant asked me to count the money myself while he remained seated and appeared to be on a FaceTime call. I was surprised because I've never been asked to count money for the attendant before, but I still complied and placed the money on the counter. He then responded by saying, "What is this? I wasn't counting," which led to an uncomfortable interaction. I explained that this was the first time I had ever been asked as a customer to count the money myself. He responded by saying there was "no law" requiring him to count it, and I replied that there was also no law requiring the customer to do so either. The conversation escalated when he stated that customers often leave short on money or act dishonestly, and that he didn't know if I was going to do the same. I found that comment disrespectful and unfair, especially because I stayed there the entire time, waited respectfully, and did nothing to suggest dishonesty. I've always treated this employee respectfully, which is why this interaction was disappointing. I understand working late hours can be stressful, but customers should not be made to feel accused or mistrusted while simply trying to pay for gas. I hope management can review the camera footage from that time to better understand the interaction. I simply wanted to share this experience because the employee's demeanor and comments felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. PS the attendant is the owner of this car. LOL As for gas prices, I don't really check for which gas station has the best price. If I need gas, I will go with the closest gas station. However, I don't just pump any gas brand. I am choosy in this area because I want to make sure my car doesn't have a hard time with unknown gas. Shell is one of the good ones. OMG... they have been here since I was a teenager. It's been a while since I pumped here at this gas station, but it was available when I needed it most. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Exterior was clean and well kept. They have a food mart, car wash, and tinting which is a bonus. It was a quick visit at the gas pump. I prefer to pay at the pump and not go see the cashier unless I have to. Last resort, I would write down or take a photo of the cost. Price was in the low $5.00 for regular octane 87. I was going to pump half tank, but decided to fill her up. Why waste time and energy for a savings of some change? Now I have this as my go-to gas station whenever I'm visiting my Mom in Upland and need a quick gas pump before heading out on our Saturday run for foods in the San Gabriel Valley area... yes, this is our weekend ritual LOL.
