After a car accident left my cousin with severe memory issues and head trauma, she became a resident at Arden Courts. She has been there over six years now and receives excellent care. It is scary to leave the care of a loved one in someone else's hands but, Arden Courts has proven to alleviate all of those fears. The staff is always ready and able to answer my questions and keep me posted on my cousin's condition. I was particularly impressed with their level of care during the pandemic. Not only did my cousin not contract COVID, but the COVID rate in general at the facility was extremely low to non-existent. I often speak to Kathy and/or Diane when I have questions or concerns and they could not be more helpful and patient. I also talk to the staff when I visit, and they are always friendly and keep me informed as to my cousin's ups and downs. I am honored to be the first person to post a review for Arden Courts of Wayne. My father recently passed away, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He spent most of his life living at home, but when he required more care we looked around for a place that could take care of his needs. Sadly, the place we picked was unable to take care of him after just 4 months, because of aggressive behaviors that are actually not atypical in the disease process. After 2 traumatic hospitalization in psych facilities (which are just not equipped for this population), we found Arden Courts of Wayne. It was such an unbelievable find!!! From the moment that we contacted them they showed so much care, respect and compassion not only for my dad but for my mother and the rest of our family as well. The staff took the time to get to know us- and although they were not fortunate enough to meet my "real" dad, they made sure to ask about who he was and offered him the best possible care. Staff at Arden Court are superb, from the top down (or from the bottom up??). The aides that take care of the daily needs of the residents really seem to love what they do, and they do it well. They also seem to get the respect and support from the "higher-ups" including nurses, director of nursing, etc. My dad was always well-dressed and clean-shaven- 2 things that were very important to my mom. When he started to refuse to eat, they made natural adjustments to his diet and took the time to find the foods he liked and tried to coax him (in such a nurturing way!) to eat. My dad was unable to participate in the regular activity programming at the nursing home, since it was too over stimulating for him. However, he participated in a daily program in a darkened room, with soft music and massage- which was just perfect for him. Sadly, my dad died just 6 weeks after entering Arden Courts of Wayne. But to the last moment, our family could not be more sure that he was in the right place. We were all taken care of to his last day (and even afterwards when we returned to clean out his room). I would not hesitate for an instant when making the difficult decision of placing someone you deeply care for under the care of the staff at Arden Courts of Wayne. read more

My mother has been a resident at Arden Courts of Wayne for almost 3 years and we couldn't be happier. My mother was placed in the Namaste program which helped her with relaxation so that she might be able to participate in the many programs offered. This program consisted of twice daily periods of time with staff in a soothing atmosphere which included soothing music and touch therapy in the form of hand massage. Arden Courts even hosted a program that brought the creator of this program to the center to speak with family members in a special presentation. What I like about Arden Courts is that residents have much freedom in a safe atmosphere. There are four 'houses' which are each planned around a different color/theme. Each 'house' includes patient rooms, a comfortable living room and dining room for it's residents. It does seem like there are activities planned approximately every 2 hours. When the weather is warm, residents may walk around the grounds safely. The staff always keeps a watchful eye but the residents can go in and out if they so desire. Several times through the year, Arden Courts hosts special events and families are invited. This includes barbecues, holiday parties with buffets and desserts. I believe that my mother enjoys the music and sing-a-longs. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff at Arden Courts. Warmth and caring is exemplified by the administration and staff here. I feel, and have, called to speak with Alyse, the director, and feel that my concerns are always heard and respected. My mother has wonderful caretakers and nurses at Arden Courts. My parents were both suffering from dementia when we moved them from their own home to Arden Courts in May, 2018. Dad had mobility issues and Parkinson's and had a greater need for care than Mom, but Mom had burned herself out trying to take care of him with sporadic daytime help. We saw about 5 places providing memory care but were impressed with the small scale of Arden, abundant but safe outdoor space (fenced in), attractive layout (4 arms encompassing residents' rooms and small group dining, splaying out from central activity areas), and the seeming caring of the staff, both care providers and administrators. We found our first impressions to be true throughout their stay there. As Mom was more with it than Dad, she was able to go out on occasional trips, and we were happy both were encouraged to dress and join in the group activities daily. Dementia took away most of who they were, but Arden provided the best alternative lives for each of them. There was no end to the kindness and understanding given our family by Arden Courts. My mother recently peacefully passed away at Arden Court in Wayne after living there for 3 1/2 years. I visited her about 4 days a week. I believe it was the best place for her to live with dementia. She was a very active women, she walked all day and didn't sit or sleep much! It was a perfect place for her that she could walk outside as long as the weather was good, in a secure, large back yard with gardens, paths & benches. Inside she could walk the halls, the community center, through the kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms( there are 4 wings)The new Director Kathy, there 2 years now, is wonderful, so helpful, caring, knowledgeable of all phases of dementia and always listened to my concerns. She has really made great improvements to the facility and the staffing. All the Caregivers are compassionate, hardworking, Loving, caring and sooo patience. My mother was always clean, dressed, fed, loved and watched all the time. The nursing staff is very caring and was always available to talk to about my mothers health concerns. The activity director always has something fun planned for the residents ( although my mother didn't sit that long ) it was fun! The cook always had a variety of well balanced menus, and great desserts too. My mother enjoyed every meal! Even the receptionists are all so friendly and compassionate. I believe my Mother was happy there, she was social with the other residents, well cared for and loved by the entire staff. My father was a resident in Arden Courts for 3 months in 2001, then passed away. He did not receive the care I expected. I don't want to go into details, but I witnessed neglect, under staffing, and carelessness! The government needs to demand that ALL nursing homes, long term care facilities, and assisted living facilities are equipped with cameras that record activities throughout the day and night. Family members should have access to use an app on their I phones to see their loved ones as they wish. Everyone would be doing their job! read more

My Dad has been in residence at Arden Court for almost 3 years. Arden Court's only focus is on those individuals with dementia and their service is far superior to other facilities. The facility is currently headed by an extremely competent individual who understands the need to set a professional example to the staff and is sensitive to family relationships. The staff is competent and caring, getting to know the person as an individual, accommodating their particular needs. My wife and I have developed personal relationships with them and feel that we are kept fully appraised of my Dad's condition. They represent the heart of the organization. Laundry is washed daily so there is never soiled clothing in his room. His room is always clean and neat. It is divided into 4 wings that allow the residents to feel part of a small community. Each has their own dining area as well as living room. Outside there is a walkway that is unrestricted and rambles through the enclosed grounds. This gives residents the freedom to roam. There is a community center that offers daily activities and special events. Here again the staff is very caring and attentive to the residents. The facility is modest and is in the process of being updated. My Dad previously resided at another assisted living facility that offered a dementia unit, as many do, but are not qualified. It was more stylish and modern, but we found that this is of little help for the person afflicted with dementia.
