Review of Management and Administrative Practices…read more This review addresses a significant and highly unprofessional lapse in administrative conduct regarding the refund of a security deposit. Prospective residents and their families should consider this experience when evaluating the integrity and reliability of the management team. Unjustified Retention of Refundable Deposit We paid a fully refundable security deposit of $X as part of the initial application and holding process. Due to unforeseen changes, we withdrew our application well within the contractual period that guaranteed a full refund, as stipulated in the initial agreement signed with the facility. Despite documented contractual obligations and our formal, written request for the refund, the management has unilaterally and without legal justification refused to process the return of these funds. This is not only a breach of contract but demonstrates a profound lack of financial transparency and ethical business practice. Consistent and Unacceptable Non-Responsiveness The process of attempting to resolve this matter has been severely hampered by the management's persistent and deliberate non-responsiveness. Over the past six weeks, we have made more than ten documented attempts to contact the administrative office via phone, direct email, and certified mail. The attempts to reach the Director or any relevant financial officer have been met with silence, unanswered calls, and unreturned emails. The complete lack of communication on a serious financial matter is unacceptable. This pattern of evasion regarding a simple, contractual refund raises serious concerns about how this management team would handle critical, time-sensitive issues concerning the health and well-being of residents. In the context of long-term care, where responsive and reliable communication is paramount, this administrative failure is a severe red flag. Conclusion and Recommendation Our experience with the management has been deeply disappointing and highly unprofessional. The refusal to honor a clear, written contractual obligation for a refund, compounded by deliberate non-responsiveness, reflects poorly on the overall governance of the retirement home. We urge prospective families to scrutinize the administrative contract terms carefully and be prepared for potential financial and communicative challenges. We currently await the immediate return of our full deposit.

They are very happy with their decision, as is our entire family. My Dad started in Independent Living, which is like a luxury five star hotel with stacked amenities and a beautiful dining room and common areas, and my Mom started in Assisted Living, which is very similar to Independent, but includes nursing staff on call 24/7. After a year, my Mom rotated to Memory Care and my Dad to Assisted Living. Thus far, the staff has been very attentive and it is an ideal residence for eldery parents. The other reisdents are very friendly and they have engagning programming, such as live music performances, and other activities. The food is also top notch. Although reasonably healthy, I felt I should look into a Continuing Care Community in case I needed it later in my life. At the time I was pretty active with my prior community's Travel Bocce Team. We played in the Southwest Florida Bocce League which consists of 24 communities in the Naples Greater Area, so I talked to the bocce players in that league who represented well known Continuing Care Communities. I was looking for referrals. All the players I approached said the same thing "Our place is wonderful. You would love it." Except one community which was Bentley Village. Their response was "It's terrible." When I asked why, they said, "We have to make reservations for dinner." I thought, first of all, they're honest, and secondly, if that's all they have to complain about, the place must be pretty good. So I inquired and ended up signing a contract. I have been here 19 months now and couldn't have made a better choice. The 150 plus acre campus is beautiful, maintained to keep it so and includes your choice of water, golf course or forestry views. The walking trails are pleasant and peaceful. The golf course is a relaxing par 3 lay-out so you are not killing yourself trying to handle long par 4's or par 5's at our advanced ages. The bocce courts, which I am involved with, are first class and among the best in our 24- member league. I don't play tennis, came but I understand from neighbors that the courts are top notch. The many, many activities offered will keep your current interests as fulfilled as you choose and offer many new ones to try. Within a few days of my coming aboard, I swear every staff member I came cross knew my name. And my neighbors, each of them, made sure I, the new guy, felt welcome. This has become a much longer review than I had planned. But I am just that enthusiastic about my choice here. And as far as the problem with the reservations are concerned, well management has decided to withdraw that requirement. Just because the residents were not happy about it. That action says something about the place. You can't really know what a place is like until you move in and really get to know all the little things about it. It's a difficult decision I know. But you have to start somewhere. Every journey takes a first step. Let your first step include a visit Bentley Village to have a look-see. I don't think you will regret it. Good luck.
