They are very happy with their decision, as is our entire family. My Dad started in Independent Living, which is like a luxury five star hotel with stacked amenities and a beautiful dining room and common areas, and my Mom started in Assisted Living, which is very similar to Independent, but includes nursing staff on call 24/7. After a year, my Mom rotated to Memory Care and my Dad to Assisted Living. Thus far, the staff has been very attentive and it is an ideal residence for eldery parents. The other reisdents are very friendly and they have engagning programming, such as live music performances, and other activities. The food is also top notch. Amy, the supervisor, works hard to make sure everyone is satisfied. Highly recommended.

Plain and simple: the level of care provided here is not commensurate with the exorbitant costs…read more After a brief hospital stay and at the recommendation of a physician, an elderly male relative was placed in their skilled nursing section. We chose this location partially because of prior experience with the facility (a different relative receiving rehabilitation services years ago) and partially because this was the only location that had an opening at the time. During the 3-month period that this male relative was here, he experienced two severe falls. The second fall required a trip to the emergency room, and even though a POA was on file, no relative was notified of this until a visit to him 7 hours after the incident revealed an empty room. He was not dressed when taken to the ER (they actually brought him clothed only in his underwear). Staff knew nothing of the whereabouts of his eyeglasses, despite the fact that he literally cannot see without them. Multiple demands for the reason for non-notification yielded responses that the facility was short-staffed or that staff was not "required" to notify the relative who has POA. When pressed about the whereabouts of his eyeglasses, we were told that they weren't in his room and, after all, he didn't have them the day before - yikes! We had to drive from the ER back to Renaissance at The Terraces to attempt to locate them, only to find the glasses literally on the floor next to his bed - and his bed had been completely stripped. We're lucky that the glasses weren't stepped on and crushed! Absolutely unacceptable. Upon his return from the ER, wounds he received as a result of the fall failed to heal appropriately. We would tend to these wounds, but since this was the skilled nursing section of the facility, it was our belief that staff should have been tending to them as well. We watched this relative sink deeper and deeper into depression, as he clearly wasn't feeling well and nearly the only human interaction he had was when he had family visiting him. During the multiple times I personally was there, not once did any staff member whatsoever ever set foot in his room. Also, absolutely unacceptable. Even though a large sign was placed in the room stating that "Family does laundry," multiple times personal items went missing because they were laundered at the facility. This required us to literally hound the supervisor to locate these items, which eventually showed back up in his room several days later with no explanation. I subsequently spent to the good part of an afternoon in his room hand sewing name labels on every piece of personal clothing or blankets in his possession. Part of the issues here are a result of our inability to speak or understand Creole. It's a true liability when a patient (or their family) cannot communicate with nurses and aides that are entrusted with their care. As soon as we were able to locate another facility, we moved him. He has improved by leaps and bounds, gained some weight, is walking and exercising regularly and socializing with others. What a transformation - all because we REMOVED him from Renaissance at The Terraces. If you believe your relative will receive top-notch care here due to the high cost of residence, you should reconsider your decision. In my opinion, this facility is an institutional setting with a pretty foyer that in reality provides sub-par, insufficient and inadequate care.
