Great facility. They now have extended drinks and beer menu given full spectrum of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages they brew and distill. Their food hall provides decent menu of food that gets delivered to your table. There was a private event going on in the brew area which would be a great place to plan a corporate or family event. I had a smash burger with onion rings and my wife had a sweet potato and black bean taco, all very good. The flight containing all of their sours and sour types were more than solid. We headed to the main tasting room at Two Roads to pick up some Igor releases, beer and bourbon before ending our evening. read more

I've been to Area Two several times now and have always had a great experience! I recently enjoyed a girls night out for trivia here and had a nice time. Ordering from their food hall across the street is easy and convenient, and I especially love that they have Zuppardi's now. The bartenders were friendly and were kind enough to make me a mocktail version of their blueberry cocktail, which was so good! It's always clean here and I love the vibe! read more

Love the atmosphere. We usually go to the original Two Roads, but we were looking for something a little quieter where you can hear the other people in your group without yelling. It was not crowded at all, so great for the night. I like to drink the seltzers they make, but they did not have them at this location. Only one or two flavors in a can. I'd like to go back in the spring or summer though to sit in the rooftop deck. read more

I had a blast at Two Roads Brewing and Area Two Experimental Brewing one Saturday afternoon. I had not visited either locations and they were both a blast. Area Two sneaks out a bit in the lead for me because of their interesting concoctions, it was much more cooler (A/C temp) inside than Two Roads, and the rooftop seating is very lovely. Both locations are nice, and everyone who works there are very nice and accommodating. The Area Two building is gorgeous on the outside (and inside). You walk in and head upstairs. You walk across a bridge type area to get to the tasting room over barrels and booze and everything! You can grab a menu at the door as you walk in and then order at the bar. I ordered a flight, which consists of 5 tasters. I definitely think the flight is the way to go until you find something you like because everything is so unique and different. My flight consisted of the Synopsis cranberry blood orange and the dark sour cherry, Seltz 002 (a pina colada, rum seltzer), Bourbon Barrel Aged Cherry Quad, and the Barrel Aged Chocolate Cookie Stout. It was a beautifully colored flight and each one was as different as the next. The flight was $16 plus an added tip. I didn't think the price was that bad to be honest. I loved trying all the different tasters. I think my favorite was the Barrel Aged Chocolate Cookie Stout. The flavors were so intense and delicious. I don't think I could drink an entire glass of it, but the taster was just the right size. I hope to visit Two Roads Brewing and Area Two again soon. It was really easy to find right off of 95 and I want to sit up on the rooftop! read more

After touring Two Roads, my husband and I received two coins to take to Area Two for a free 4oz drink. I think the coins are a great way to get people to go to Area Two because we didn't even know about it originally. It's a 5 minute walk from Two Roads and it's easy to find. We ordered our two free 4oz drinks as well as a flight to share, and chips and salsa. Area Two has a few beers from Two Roads but really, this is a great place to try unusual ones. The chips and salsa was $10 and you get the entire family size bag and a jar of salsa, it's a great deal and it tastes amazing! It pairs well with the beers. Every drink was phenomenal but my personal favorites was Daybreaker Pineapple Mule and Pineapple Super Diesel. The Pineapple Super Diesel was really interesting...it tasted like the devil's lettuce. I highly recommend trying it! I wish I had visited Area Two a long time ago, it's a great place to grab some drinks and relax outside on the deck. read more

What's better than one large, quality beer-filled brewery with tasty options and cozy industrial setup? Two of them! That's kind of how things work now at Two Roads with their whole second building (aptly named Area Two) a little further down the road from their original spot. My buddies recently took a trip to Two Roads' massive campus of beer, but started at Area Two to see what it was all about. Now it's not like Area Two is just an extension of Two Roads' main part in an attempt to house more guests. It's full name includes the words 'Experimental Brewing' which might scare off some straight-laced beer drinkers, but those are welcomed words to my beer-drinking crew and I. Area Two serves up barrel-aged brews, uniquely fermented ales, and plenty of creations that scream originality...I mean maybe it's a tad much at times as their tap list had an abundance of sourness, but it was still a solid selection. Backtrack with me for a moment just to set the stage of Area Two's setup as it's similar to Two Roads' regular brewery, but a little more intimate. I love that you basically cross an elevated walkway to get into the taproom. Once across, there's plenty of tables and even an outdoor area that I'm sure is used (on not-so-cold-and-snowy days such as that day). Staff is also friendly, though if you haven't read enough reviews of Two Roads in general, just know it's a 21+ crowd, meaning no kids, no dogs, just beer drinkers. Maybe one day this'll mean something to me, but right now, it just meant a more casual feel to the place. Okay, back to the beer. A flight of five 4oz tasters is a tad more than your usual pricing ($14 and change) so that's a slight knock on Area Two, but I won't deny I liked a majority of those experimental suds. Well, actually the first beer I tried was apparently available over in the regular part of Two Roads so trying the Raspberry Chocolate Stout wasn't unique to Area Two. Even so, it was delicious in rich, mildly fruity yet creamy flavor. Moving forward to Area Two originals, the Flanders red ale was barrel-aged and sour which was an odd combo to read, though it delivered in a semi-tart maltiness. Prickly Pair Synopsis was probably the most forgettable of the flight, but did continue with that tart and sour theme. The Elderflower Tripel was ever-so-slightly under the level of fermented flavor you'd expect from this style, but still solid while the Brett IPA (and the Brett Saison I tried from my chum) hit almost perfectly on the palate. Overall, what's the beer consensus? Great stuff is going on here at Area Two. I loved the processes and interesting takes on many styles of beer. Yeah, right now things were heavy on the sour level, but knowing that Area Two is all about experimenting leads me to wonder what might be on tap in a few months (perhaps the summer even?). For those reasons and a general level of greatness, you know I'll be back to try out what else they'll concoct. Until then, we'll stick with four stars, but just know that five is not far in the distance. I mean, just read my review for the other building and see. read more

Do you like beer? Are you sick of the standard yellow pee, hazy NEIPAs, and even normal porters and stouts? When you're gone enjoying the standard fare on the other side of the Stratford campus, walk or ride over to Area Two, and taste how they bend the limits of what can be called beer. Some of the more exotic things I've had here include barrel-aged stouts, sours made from wild yeast that's just floating around outside, IPAs that taste like weed and pineapple, but stuff as outlandish as a green marshmallow seltzer and Guy Fieri's take on spiked Hawaiian Punch. I haven't had a bad beer here and I don't think I ever will. read more

Area Two Experimental Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Stratford, Connecticut in March 2019. It was founded by business partners Brad Hittle, brewmaster Phil Markowski, Clement Pellani and Peter Doering. The brewing facility is actually an extension of Two Roads Brewing Company which opened in December 2012. As business began to grow, the partners decided to open a new facility next door to the main building where the focus would be put exclusively on more innovative beers such as barrel-aged beers, sours and various fruited styles. The 25,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility only accounts for roughly 7% of the volume brewed annually at the main brewery, but the beers are distributed on a national scale. I recently rode my bicycle down to the Two Roads campus. It's a 30-mile trek from my house so I was very thirsty. I went to the main brewery first for a beer flight, headed across the street to grab lunch at a local pizzeria, and then headed back to the campus to visit Area Two. It's just a short walk from the main building; you'll pass their outdoor Hop Yard on the way. I had first visited Area Two not long after they first opened in 2019. This was my first time back. It's a very impressive facility with a beautiful interior. After looking over the draught list, I decided to order a sampler flight which consisted of "Okie Dokie Smokie" (Rauchbier), "Pineapple Super Diesel" (Hazy Hemp IPA), "Wild & Hazy IPA" (Double Dry Hopped Hazy IPA brewed with Brett Trois yeast), "Twoquila" (Tequila Barrel-Aged Fruited Gose), and "Europa" (Belgian Flanders Red Ale Aged in French Red Wine Barrels with Modena Balsamic Vinegar). I enjoyed my flight on their beautiful outdoor rooftop deck. All of the beers were excellent, but the last one was my favorite! I look forward to trying more of Area Two's innovative offerings in the future. read more

Super cool brand new facility with bar area on opposite side of walkway, which reminded me of Jupiter Rising scene with the harvesting vats, and great outside space beyond that. A perfect location for day drinking and I'm sure for nighttime activities, though that's not my thing. There's generally a good vendor outside or grab some pizza across the street. Parking is ample and it's easy access from I-95. The original Two Roads is immediately next door. Love the repurposing of the old factories going on these days. It's awesome. read more

Beautiful addition to Two Roads! I love the outdoor decks overlooking the marsh. This would make an amazing venue for a party or corporate event. The design is very industrial, modern, and sleek. Area Two has its own food truck on weekends and some other times. Pizza Co across the street is also a good option that delivers. There is a nice paved walkway that connects Two Roads with Area Two. It's a short walk between them. The beers at Area Two are definitely experimental. I'm not a huge sour beer fan, but I enjoyed sampling a flight and trying new things. They do have the Ol' Factory Pils on tap at Area Two, and I believe they will always have one or two non sour/experimentals. Parking can get jammed on weekends so take advantage of their free shuttle, Uber/Lyft, or carpooling if you can. read more

I will start by saying Area Two is a beautiful facility. They definitely went with the modern feel, opposed to the old factory vibes from the original Two Roads brewery next door. Accessing the taproom requires crossing a bridge where the bourbon aged barrels and other silos are houses. There is also a rooftop deck available for lounging on nice days. Area Two tends to specialize in sours, barrel aged, and other experimental beers. You can get 4oz flights ranging from $2-$4. All the beers were great, but I was especially a fan of the Cherry Quad (13% abv) and Pineapple Sour (6.4% abv) on tap. Get there now before it's gone! Overall, I loved it and would absolutely come back. Great ambiance, and the staff is very hospitable and knowledgeable. My only gripe is that children are not allowed on either Two Roads properties. It's the only thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars. read more

You walk into a barrel. Industrial and modern, Area Two is an amazing addition to the Two Roads family. Handicap accessible (elevator), you walk on a catwalk overlooking the barrels and casks towards the back of the building where the bar and lounge are located. Nicely air conditioned (it was 90 degrees today), the bar is to the right and fairly small, plenty of seating and a small store area to the left. The place has an outdoor and light feeling, with windows looking out onto a deck and marshland. The deck is amazing, two levels with a cool breeze and some shades areas. It looks like there may also be a small bar on the rooftop area as well when busy. Ok, so yes...it's all sours and experimental brews with one or two popular Two Roads brews on tap. I have to say, the sours are so beyond on point. OMG the Kombucha was amazing and I wish it was bottled. Also, Pineapple Sour D with hemp extract was something totally unexpected and perfect taste. Even if you don't like "sours", I recommend you come and try some unique and creative brews that you cannot get anywhere else. Area Two is an awesome spot! It has Asheville brewery vibes which is exciting to find in CT. We went up to the rooftop which was really fun and I saw at least 2 other deck levels. I love 2 Roads beer but since I'm pregnant I only had a non alcoholic juicy IPA which was surprisingly delicious (I've never had an NA beer before). My husband loved the selection of sours too. Want a great outdoor patio experience? NOT HERE. My friend and I came for a nice sour beer and got a seat outside on the patio. It was a chilly afternoon and so we asked for a heater...since there were 2 not in use sitting on the patio...the first server said "let me see if there is any propane"...NEVER CAME BACK TO LET US KNOW...second server said "let me ask the guy up front"...NEVER CAME BACK...for the rest of the 45 minutes we were there, no server made eye contact with us nor helped us out with our question. We would have appreciated even a "sorry no propane left" but we got nothing. If you wanna come here for a delicious sour, sit inside or don't come. read more

An interesting and nice space with some innovative brews to match. You head up the stairs and walk along a catwalk over the barrels in the warehouse. Then you come to the end where there is a tasting room and a patio. There is a bar, plenty of high tops with chairs, and even a couch. As implied in the name, it is their experiment station. I thought it was a cool concept and something new and different. I will warn you that the selection of "experiments" is pretty sour heavy. I happen to like sours, however, the others in my group do not. There view of the place was a bit different than mine. I will admit, even though most of them were a bit meh for me, I still loved the experience because they had some pretty neat concepts and ideas. Being just a short walk from Two Roads, how can you not let curiosity get the best of you to try it out. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area anyway sampling at Two Roads. read more

Disappointed with service. Beer was great but was really disappointed with the service. We signed up for a Saturday evening 1.5 hour time slot but were told by our male server that the table needed to be used for the next party 1 hour and 15 minutes in. Server took my HALF FINISHED drink away without my permission and no customers were waiting for a table as we exited. We asked to split the check between all three parties but it was only split between two parties. Really unprofessional and unhappy with the way things were handled. I expected more from Two Roads. I will spend my money at other local breweries in the future. I will not be going back. read more
