Super friendly staff serving great food and beer. Cool vibe inside with full bar. Enjoyed several menu items, some sours and pilsners. Courtyard is dog friendly but paved so not ideal on a hot day. Rainy day number two lol so decided after lunch to stop by Foolproof Brewing. It's located in Bridgeport in not the nicest part but safe. You park across the street and it was free so always a good thing. It's our 3rd or 4th visit but this time wasn't as enjoyable as tons of kids running completely unsupervised. We tried to play table shuffle board with the disc and sand on board but apx 6-8 kids ranging in age from 5-10 were throwing the pucks back and forth, knocking all the sand off the table, and their parents, one table away completely ignored them. Beer and wine were good, service pretty decent, but the kids really put a damper on this visit so we didn't order the wings we wanted. All of our other visits have been fine, some wonderful, today, not so much. One mom actually "lost" her kid and frantically searched for her. Welp, she was by the elevator on the way out. I realize you try to please everyone but staff and parents totally ignored potential harm to equipment and guests. Overall though, great place with good swag. read more

I have been here multiple times now and each time the menu has changed. The draft beers have also changed. There was a vendor event going on so somehow did not get the message that there was no table service and that drinks were ordered at bar and food somewhere else.I sat at the table for probably 20 mins before someone clued me in...and it was not a staff person. Pool table moved and I think also foosball and table shuffle board were removed. Hmm. The feta whip with grilled pita was ok, but not worth the $15. A friend and I have the same birthday and many common friends so we decided to celebrate together with friends on a Friday night at Foolproof Brewing for drinks, food and dancing. First, the parking is easy and free with a lot located directly across the street. Next, the cool factor is here because the brewery is located in a former factory so the brick walls, wood floors, posts and ceilings plus the large windows make it an interesting space. They have lots of pop art around to enjoy, some games and comfortable seating with booths, tables and high tops. There may be a classic car or two on display as well since they share a space with the Black Horse Garage. Now we explore the drinks. This is a brewery after all. The tap menu has a variety of their own brews including lager, American amber, spiced, rice, IPA and sour to name a few. I enjoy the spiced pumpkin ale myself. The drink menu does not stop here because the drinks are not limited to beer. They have wines, mocktails, craft cocktails and just about anything in between. Finally we explore the food. The catering group Fork & Fingers has a kitchen here where chef Mark McKinley designed a tap room menu to go along with the cool vibe of Foolproof Brewing. We explored some plates including the mussels, cauliflower, kale salad and more. Everyone who tried the food were pleasantly satisfied. The service was friendly and efficient and they got our various orders and checks straight even though there were lots of moving around and comings and goings. Overall a great experience. read more

We'd visited the original Foolproof while visiting Rhode Island. It's a pretty nice taproom with good beer, and I think I remember a food truck there. Imagine my surprise when I saw a Foolproof open up in Bridgeport. Unlike its older brother, the Connecticut location is the bigger little brother, taking over the entire top floor of an old factory, complete with a full kitchen, party spaces, and for some reason a car elevator. (No, you can't park inside.) Naturally, we had to stop in, and we were not disappointed. The classic Rhode Island beers came west, and joining them are some new creations and some pilot recipes, too. New for Foolproof is a full kitchen (unless the Pawtucket location got one since I last visited), and it doesn't disappoint. They have some Ocean State-inspired seafood boils and dishes, as well as somewhat-upscale pub fare. We ordered the fried pickles, and a hot chicken sandwich and the Chicken Bacon Smash. Well, she accidentally got the fried pickles as an upsold side (did we just discover the secret menu?), so we split her pickles and my fries -- best of both worlds, so I can't complain. The sandwiches and burgers are a little small, but they're priced appropriately and pack a lot of flavor under that small fancy bun. I'd say we'll be back, but this was our second visit. Sorry for not getting to this sooner. Heads up: the primary parking lot is across the street. There's a gate and a payment terminal, but it's always been open when we've gone. While there are a handful of spaces near the building, bring an umbrella on a rainy day. Be mindful if you have mobility issues, but there is an elevator once you get inside. read more

Building is very cool, embraces the auto shops by giving you a direct view of some of the cars that are being worked on. Middle of the bar is a car elevator and they have a car for sale on the bar floor. It was pretty busy when we were there, late lunch on a Saturday. Appeared to be very under staff as it took a long time to get a waitress. She was very confused with the orders, even though it was just the lunch specials, with one person asking for a ginger ale instead of the beer. Typical bar food menu, very fried-centric. Nothing great, but decent price. Beer was middling to bland. One seemed old without a lot of carbonation left. They did have one interesting beer, a pumpernickel bock. But even that came up short as missing the flavor of the pumpernickel. And the waitress got the bill wrong. 5 of us all ordered lunch specials, one with a ginger ale instead of the beer. Bill ended up being an extra $6, but since it took a long time to get it, we didn't bother asking about it as it would just take too long to figure out. read more

We pre-purchased a 5-course fixed Valentine's Day dinner. They had 3 seating - 6, 7 and 8 o'clock. When we arrived for 8:00, we were told to wait in the bar. An hour later and we could see that they were still bringing in trays of salad and soup into the dining room. We were abruptly told that they were not going to allow any of the 8:00 diners to have dinner and that we would receive a refund. So disappointed by how they handled the entire situation especially on a holiday evening when we all got dressed up and patiently waited for our seating and now it was too late to make alternate plan. Manager didn't even bother to inform us himself which would have been the respectful thing to do. read more

Stopped in +- 2:00 this past Sat. with my wife.1st time visit due to my new CT Beer Passport! Not very busy, Sat at the bar and Grabbed a flight of 4 different tap beers, and unfortunately nothing really stood out. Tried 2 additional tap beers with same result! Sorry FP but your brewing process is lacking a "wow" factor. FOOD; I got the Smash Burger which was tasty, served with nicely seasoned fries. My wife got the Sweet Potato Papas Bravas which was also tasty with a nice aioli sauce. Surprisingly the food came out in under 5 minutes?. SERVICE: Bar tender was polite and talkative. AMBIANCE: Nice location, really nice old, converted factory building, clean throughout. Separate room for private events, open floor plan with nice view of fermentation vessels. Would not go out of my way to get back there, unless to attend a party. They have only been open since august, so more time refining their beer process could change my mind in the future? read more
