Vitality uses the Asyra to perform "bio-energetic testing". What the Asyra actually measures is galvanic skin response. Galvanic just means it measures current, which you can do with a multimeter from home depot. Note that the functional part of the system are two large conductors that are held by the customer. It measures the current between the left hand and the right hand, that is all. However it is claimed that this device can detect neurological disorders, cancer, diabetes, macular degeneration, and the list goes on. However, Galloway (the makers of Asyra) received a warning letter from the FDA on 25 August 2011. Warning letters are big deals for medical device manufacturers and this letter was particularly damning. By the content of the letter, even IF galvanic skin response could detect a myriad of ailments as claimed, the Asyra has no evidence to show that it could accurately measure those currents. Not only were there no design controls, they lacked basic manufacturing controls for any electrical device let alone one purporting to have diagnostic use. Put simply, your toaster has more design information and manufacturing controls than the Asyra. Will there be claims by customers that the Asyra detected and aided their health? Yes. Will a new-age crystal merchant have customers that claim their health was aided through crystals and incense? Yes. The difference is in the science. If the science showed that the Asyra could detect diabetes non-invasively (ignoring the rest of the long list of claims) then Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, and all the other medical device manufacturers would already be using the Asyra technology which is basic technology and not patent protected. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If one device says is can detect maladies from head to foot; circulatory, respiratory, and nervous ailments...then it is probably snake oil.

I recently began using their services for my 77 yr old disabled mother who is home bound. I thought…read moreit was a wonderful idea to have a doctor come to her instead of me having to call a medical transport service to get her to her appointments. The home health care company sent over the referral, advising me they should respond within 10 days. It took over a month to contact me, blaming a paperwork glitch. An appointment was finally made, only to have a PA show up. I realize this is becoming standard these days, but I think the first appointment should be with the licensed physician first. The PA was very pleasant, and ordered some routine diabetic blood work, asked if I needed any prescription refills and left after telling me I would be contacted regarding the next appointment date. Turns out they call you 2 days before hand to let you know there is an appointment and won't give a time frame until the day of the appointment. This doesn't work for me because Mom has ongoing appointments, physical and occupational therapy. I had to cancel 3 appointments for the day they wanted to come. When I requested more notice for the next appointment the office said sorry that's not how we do it. Wow, so much for customer service. On her next appointment the PA prescribed Cymbalta for my mother to help her sleep at night. Instead of researching new meds as I usually do, I picked up the prescription and started giving it to my mother. Within the next 30 days my mother developed dementia, and then fell into delirium. She ended up in the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital. After finally researching it, I discovered that the CDC has issued a warning not to give Cymbalta to patients over 79 because it causes...delirium!! Stopped that med and she reverted to normal. 2 days ago mom developed pitting edema in her feet, ankles and calves. I called the service and was told the PA was on vacation and the doctor wasn't in. He never checked for a message. He finally had the nurse call me the next day with a prescription. Sorry but I've already contacted another dr and got the help we needed. So, if you like seeing a PA who prescribes medication against recommendations, and a non-responsive physician, this is the service to use. However, if you value the life and well-being of your loved one, keep looking because this isn't the service for you. I've fired them and am now taking my mother to another doctor. I'd rather deal with the transportation issues.
