As a frequent eater and lover of Afghani food, this place was excellent and I've been here 3 times even though it's quite far from me. Kabuli pillow (possibly wrong spelling) was the highlight, and best in town. In fact, it was so well prepared that we came back specifically from it. They claim to be the first and best afghani restaurant in town - and honestly this checks out. They have great starters/sharables too, best for me is always the betinjan (eggplant). I like the Mantu as well, but tbh, had much better mantu elsewhere. The highlight is the pillow. Just go there! Ambiance wise - very family friendly. Visited Ariana Kabob House for a quick, last minute lunch. The restaurant is conveniently located, clean and spacious, and there's a pretty extensive menu. The prices seemed fairly reasonable. Customer service was friendly and attentive. I opted to order the chicken kebab plate, and it was quite tasty. The portions were a bit smaller than expected, and the rice was slightly bland on flavor, but I enjoyed the chicken kebab and the garlic yogurt sauce. The cucumber salad was refreshing, and was a nice addition. The green chutney sauce was alright, but a little watery in texture. We had to eat quickly due to scheduling constraints, but they were quick with providing takeout boxes, and sauce cups to take home with our leftovers. We usually order take out through Uber eats, and it never misses. My husband loves to get their nandos wings and mantu. Everything is always delicious. And of course it's halal Even though we usually order take out, Ive been to the restaurant twice. I'm not sure if the man in the front is the owner but both times he has helped us, and he is so kind. I went here around 2 weeks ago. It was a weeknight and we were the only ones dining in. That worried me a little bit, but I was wrong. While we were there, many people came in and picked up to go orders. It seems like they were regulars. This made me feel better. The menu is big enough that everyone can find something to eat. Bread, rice, chicken, lamb, kebabs and the list goes on. If memory serves me correctly, my friends and I (4 of us) shared an eggplant appetizer (Banjan), 2 naan breads, rice, salad, a potato filled bread (Bolani), a tikka lamb kebab, a koobideh kebab, a tandoori chicken kebab and a Karahi chicken. I have to say that I was not a big fan of the eggplant appetizer but it wasn't bad. Everyone has different tastes. The Bolani was definitely my favorite. So much so that I took an order home for my folks to try. They compared it to Korean pancakes (which I actually did too). The bread was soft and crispy at the same time. The dipping sauces were yummy - one yogurt and one herb based. Soooo good! The Karahi Chicken had a great flavor and the sauce was delicious with both the rice and naan. The meat (all of it) was very tender and well seasoned. The only thing for me was that the lamb was a little gamey. For others it might not be. The naan was hot and right out of the "oven". The rice was so good that I probably could have eaten a vat of it by myself. It was perfectly cooked. I have to say that I was impressed at how well seasoned the food was. This is worth a visit at least once! I've been to this place a while back I believe there were different owners and I didn't enjoy the food back then. We decided to try again to see if anything changed and it did! To start, this is Afgani cuisine with hints of typical popular Persian dishes - Chicken Kaboodeh platter - $20 This is something I'd most likely get the next time. The chicken kabobs are not spicy and are tasty at a mild level. The brown rice is delicious and not heavy like some other typical pulaos/polos. The salad on the plate is just cabbage and lettuce - Chicken Tandoori Wrap - $13 The bread/naan was delicious and I can see how it'd be tasty with a saucy dish. The flavor profile was amazing for this wrap however, the chicken was either undercooked, slightly raw or they chose a bad cut of chicken for a sandwich. It was like rubber and very less chicken. In this case it was a good thing less chicken. Please note this does not come with french fries or any type of side; just comes with the wrap. I also wish they gave more sauce on the side or some type of condiments were available maybe a spicy sauce. I took a star off for this All in all, I'd definitely come here again for the chicken kabob platter but I think I'm scarred from the wraps meat texture. I also think the price point is a bit too high for the ambiance. However, if this reflects high quality ingredients (saffron) and halal meat being used it'd make a lot of sense. I haven't had Afghan food since a business trip back in 2005 to DC. I saw that this place had Ashak on the menu which was my introduction to the cuisine. Some places call it Afghan Ravioli, but the description used at Ariana is just dumplings. It's an appetizer and not an entree. Online ordering was a snap and counter pickup service was fast and friendly. At $17.99 it's a bit up there but you do get 8 of them which could be a heavy snack or light meal. They use chives for the stuffing which is just as good as the leek version I've had before. The taste was outstanding with the yogurt drizzle. There are some ground beef sprinkles on top for texture, but you could ask them to leave it off if you wanted it fully vegetarian. I tried this place tonight because it has aloo ka paratha. That was a great decision . This place is cute, open and picturesque with wall paintings and nice set. We ordered goat shinwari with bread and Bolani (aloo ka paratha) and both things were delicious, made from scratch and fresh. I loved the taste of shinwari Karahi with fresh bread and traditional afghani rice. Bolani was milder than my taste but fresh and smoking hot (literary) with home made yogurt and afghani chutney. Never had Afghani food before and this exceeded my expectations! We got the platter of minced beef, lamb, and lamb shanks and everything was delicious. This place has been on my radar for a while before I decided to give it a try. If you want a good solid authentic kabob, you should give this place a try. It is fairly easy to find. Our GPS took us straight to the shopping center it is located. Ample parking space and unassuming. I've been to this place 2x now. During my 1st visit, I thought I needed to place my order before sitting down because front desk counter is the first thing I saw upon entry. However, I was mistaken. The person behind the counter took us to our table and handed the menus. We tried the following food and all of them do not disappoint. 1. Sambosa - very similar to Indian's Samosa. I cannot tell the difference. Fried dough pastry filled with potatoes and veggies. Very yummy. 2. Afghan bread - it looks very similar to Indian's Naan but it is drier and flatter. Personally I prefer Naan because it is more chewy/puffy. Another factor is that we didn't order curry/saucy dish to dip the bread into. 3. Tandoori shish kabob - boneless chicken cubes marinated in tandoori sauce. A dish comes with 1 kabob stick, a hefty pile of basmati rice and small portion of mixed salad. 4. Tandoori 1/2 chicken specialty - boned chicken. Similar to the Tandoori shish kabob version. The only difference is boned. We can taste the spices and a hit of spiciness in both tandoori dish. 5. Koibedei specialty kabob - minced beef. A dish comes with 2 kabob sticks. 6. Chicken karani - boned chicken pieces cooked with lots of spices and oil as its sauce. It is different than Indian curry, but very tasty. During both visits, there's only one person working the front area. He's courteous and checked on us a few times but doesn't hover. I prefer this type of "service". I am uncomfortable whenever people check on us too often. read more

First up is the banjan egg plant dip with naan bread. Holy crap, this dish blew my mind. It was so savory, so so good. We literally licked the plate clean. Next was our entrees, we got the soltani kabob and goat kahari. The kabobs were good, nice and juicy, went really well with the garlic sauce they gave us. The goat kahari stole the show though, it was described as mild to us but it was not mild LOL but we asked them if they could make it less spicy next time and they said they can take out the jalapeños. I normally don't like Mediterranean food but this is the second time I've been back and honestly, I was craving it as soon as I got home. The amount of rice they give you is enormous and so good! It's fluffy and NOT DRY! I've been to some kabob places that the rice is so dry I could hardly eat it but not at ARIANA. Between the 4 of us we ordered 3 plates to share and then the second time with 6 people we ordered 4 plates. Tandoori Half Chicken - perfectly seasoned. I love the hot sauce they coat the chicken with. Comes with 4 large pieces and it's super juicy. Normally when I think of chicken, I think dry, but this is not the case here. I ordered this the first and second time. I think that in itself is a testament of how good this was to me. Soltani kabob combination - I don't remember what the other meat was but I know I had the minced meat because after eating it I said, "I can't eat this." It smelled a little to me but everyone else thought it was fine. I also have sort of an aversion to minced/ground meat which is why I don't eat meatballs, ground beef, ground pork, ground chicken, or fish cakes. But the other meat was Very tender and I felt like it melted it my mouth. It's def not wagyu so don't come in expecting too much. Lamb shank kabob - I mean... come on, it's lamb. Kofta Chalau - Afghan style meatballs - I didn't eat the meatballs but I did dip naan in the sauce and man that sauce is good! Very mild not spicy at all. I but on the tangy side but that's right up my alley! The burst of herbs and flavor is exactly how I expect my food to be. Shinwary goat karahi - this one kind of knocked me back a little only because I didn't expect it to actually be spicy when we ordered spicy. This paired with naan is perfection I tell you. Grab a bit of the Serrano peppers or whatever pepper and a piece of meat wrapped in the naan and you're in heaven. Naan - it is huge! Bigger than a normal sized plate! We ordered 2 and we only finished 1! Fluffy and piping hot. Hot sauce - actually spicy Yogurt sauce - creamy and flavorful Def give this place a try if you haven't already. The place was clean and seating was spacious. The highlight definitely was the food though. I ordered the Tandoori Kofta Combination, which came with a tandoori chicken skewer, a ground beef skewer and rice. It was absolutely delicious and the best entree our party ordered in my opinion. The rice was well seasoned, the chicken was juicy, and the beef was tender and tasty. We also ordered the kofta chalau and the Shinwary goat karahi. Big enough to fit a packed house for sure. In terms of the menu, you have options for appetizers, soups/salad, desserts, drinks, and of course kabob plates which are the main entrees. The menu isn't big but it will take a few visits to get a bit of everything. So I ended up ordering the Lamb Shank Kabob and Wazeri Kabob Combination. So let me tell you first off, you get a decent size portion here. Most dishes come with rice and a salad. The rice which is jasmine rice is very fluffy and flavorful. One the best jasmine rice I've had at any restaurant. The meat here is prepared to the highest quality, time and effort is definitely put into the preparation of the meat. The lamb was very tender, had great flavor, you can definitely taste all the spices involved in the cooking. The Wazeri combination has chicken breast and minced beef. Once again very tender and lots of flavors. Basically what I'm trying to say is the food tastes great. I had come in for lunch. Asked the server what he likes most, he said Tandoori chicken and so I ordered that with the subzi rice. We had a conversation about self control while I was waiting on the food. I preached all the text book stuff on the subject. Food came, I took a bite and the flavor of the chicken in combination with the juicy texture had an unexpected effect. I kept thinking about mulbangs beard meets food and how I could do a 10lb kebab challenge myself. Afghani food in Duluth! Everything here tastes freshly made. They season and cook their kebabs well without drying it out. One portion of kebabs would be perfect for two people but we wanted to try everything so we ordered the koobideh, lamb kebab, chicken kebab, chicken tikka (mildly spicy), beef Patty (mildly spicy), eggplant, sambosa. All of the dishes were delicious. The Naan was so crispy on the outside. The afghan tea was the perfect way to end the meal, although def on the sweeter side for my preference but you can request to adjust the sugar level (I know this is not a boba tea shop).
