I recently went to Wayback Burgers to feed a burger craving and it hit the spot. I got the impossible burger, but I have had it before and it never misses. The guy working the register is not really helpful and I think it may be because he doesn't speak english that well and tries to hide it. I asked if my bun could be toasted well and if the burger can be cut in half and he didn't add anything on the register, then when I stared at him waiting for him to add it, he dismissively turned to the cook and said "bun". When I got the burger, the bun wasn't really toasted and it wasn't cut in half, so I sent it back. The cook was very nice about it and brought it back out with no issues. The burger was good, but all of the food was really greasy. While eating the burger, grease began to drip down my hand and the fries/onion rings still looked wet. I ate this for dinner and woke up with the absolute worst headache that lingered for 3 days... Also, just a heads up that it is a la carte, so the drink and sides were an additional cost. The impossible was an upcharge, they don't sell small drinks, then the fronion rings all came to be about $20, which was pretty expensive. The location is tucked in a Kroger parking lot and wasn't busy when I went, which was later in the evening. The inside was very clean, nice and organized. It was also quiet inside, which I liked. Yet again- consistently good. I just had tots but the Wayback Gold sauce is a good bbq and mustard mix!! My kiddo got the kids burger and fries along with a red velvet milkshake and she loved it. Hubby had the chicken BLT and he was very pleased. They hand breaded his chicken and he said it was perfect and not greasy. This is a small store front but very clean and plenty of seating. The burger was pretty good, but greasy. It had an abnormal amount of grease that just dripped into the basket. I suppose it's very fatty meat. The guy behind the register looked absolutely miserable and did not speak English very well. I could barely understand what he said. The facility is older and not kept up very well. I'm not sure they deep clean. This place needs it though. The restrooms could really use some attention. I have mixed emotions about this place. read more

**Extremely disappointed with my experience at Wayback Burgers in Lawrenceville, GA.** I was the only customer in the store and ordered 3 single cheeseburger combos. Instead of cooking the burgers fresh, the staff tried to serve me one that had clearly been sitting out with cheese already melted on it, then reheated it on the grill to pass it off as "fresh." When I questioned it, they insisted it was fresh -- which it obviously wasn't -- so I canceled my order and left. As I walked out, a male employee (appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent) yelled at me, claiming they "got fresh," then began cursing in a foreign language out of frustration. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior. Reheating old burgers and serving them to customers is a health concern and shows a lack of respect for food safety. I really really wanted to love this place- 3.5 if we gave half stars. The burgers are bland. That's the main reason for this rating. The meat needs some salt and pepper or seasoning! Even with me ordering mine with thousand island sauce- it was like I needed more sauce. I got a single made like the "Big Way." My husband got the double classic. However my husband says that he prefers a fast food burger to this place... I love that everything tasted very fresh. The ingredients seem to be of high quality. The fries alone are 5 stars. I didn't try their shakes or any other sides. They have fried pickles that looked good on the menu board. But their burgers looked great in the pictures too. Food is expensive for what it is and not properly cooked. I ordered a kids grilled cheese and when it came out, the cheese was extremely cold, but the bread was cooked. I nicely asked him to melt it more. He proceeded to put the whole thing on there for less than a minute, came back only a few degrees warmer, still unmelted. He told me it was good enough and left. However, my burger came out with the cheese melted. There were no issues with my burger/meal besides the fries being overly cooked & brown.... The burger was double patties with cheese and I got the works on it. I ordered tater tots as my side. The burger was solid. Not the best I've had but not bad at all either. It was cooked fresh and came out looking like a burger off a commercial. It was perfect. The patties could use a slight bit more seasoning but that didn't stop the totality of it being a solid burger. The star of the show was definitely the tater tots. They came out perfectly made. Crisp in the outside, soft in the inside. I'd def come back here for the tots alone. I give this place 4 stars. A good portion of the drink machine service area was not working. Finally got to try Wayback Burgers for a second time after a three month break. This time I phoned my order in and picked it up myself instead of using Uber Eats. The guy who took my order on the phone was super nice and pleasant to talk to. Everything was hot and ready for me when they said it would be. I got the same burger as last time when I ordered from the Chamblee-Tucker location - mushroom Swiss, although, this time I ordered it with lettuce wrap instead of a bun. It was just as great as I remember it - very juicy and flavorful. I forgot to order the Wayback sauce on the burger again, but I did order it on the side for my mac and cheese bites. (This order was from last month, but if memory serves, the sauce had kind of a ketchup/mustard type base to it. It was good, but not groundbreaking or anything). I didn't bother ordering a shake this time, even though I remember how delicious it was sharing one with my fiancé last time. I also skipped the fries and onion rings, as I was worried they would be greasy like the other location's. However, the mac and cheese bites that I did remember to try were just okay. I'm an Uber Eats WHORE and always see this place on the app! I haven't tried until about 2 weeks ago. I was leaving Publix and noticed the signage outside and decided to try them out. Restaurant is quite trendy on the inside. Apparently this restaurant has been around for ages with all the black/white antique looking photos. I ordered the Cheesy Burger which on the app looks AMAZING. It literally looks covered in cheese. In my mind I thought it was a mix of cheddar and perhaps a Velveeta style Cheese. When they brought the burger, it's basically a regular burger with extra slices of cheese. I think they have like 4 slices or something on it. The slices were not melted though. They also toast and butter the bun, but flip it around. So the inside is outside, and outside is inside. The burger is quite tasty. Served FRESH and hot, hot hot.... The fries are crispy and right out the grease too. I ordered a Carolina Blue beverage. I learned a lot here. I didn't even think there was something special about NC skies. lol. In all, this is a pretty cool restaurant. You just can't go wrong with a burger. BUT, there's just no authentic taste. Ya know how Five Guys has a signature taste, or Grindhouse, Vortex, hell, Even Wendy's. This burger is good and all, but It just taste like a fresh ingredient burger you could get anywhere. I got a burger combo w/ some chili cheese tater tots, and had an amazing lunch! The burgers were tender, juicy, and the ingredients were very fresh. The tater tots were super crispy and the perfect vehicle for the chili & cheese. I'd probably ask for a little extra seasoning on the burger, but, it definitely was a great meal. Today was one of those days.. I was having a horrible day so decided TREAT YO SELF and get a burger, skip the gym, and relax after work lol one of my coworkers recommended I try Wayback burgers so why not! 10 mins from my work isn't so bad. called my order in 4 mins before I got to the restaurant and when I got the they were getting it ready to bag and I was in and out within 2 minutes max. The guy at the register/who took my phone order was super nice and even greeted me by my name when I walked in. All the tables and behind the register looked really clean and mess free. It made me feel at ease to know they are keeping good sanitation with this whole covid deal. Fries....the fries were Meh.. definitely not my favorite. I might try the tater tots next time. 3/10 The burger though!!!!!!! The bun was super soft and kinda tasted like a Hawaiian bun. Ordered online; got the Steakhouse Burger and the Classic with a full fry, costing $24.45. Intended to share the fries with my Dad. They were cold, and with how much you get, definitely not worth $5.49. My burger (the classic) was average at best, I ordered it with no tomatoes and still got tomatoes. Beef was dry and needed seasoning. My Dad says the steakhouse burger was a decent burger, but it was dry and needed more sauce. The toppings on the classic were fine. Bun was okay. Service was fine. Also got a free milkshake with the order, went with chocolate. Not a bad shake, pretty thick at first, definitely not worth $7 though, it was a small drink.
