I had raw seafood for several consecutive meals before this so maybe that's why it didn't stand out as much lol but still yummy. We ordered: Yook-Hwe ($19) - beef tartare mixed with gochujang, blanched baby octopus, Korean pepper, cilantro, and a side of gim. There were a lot of textures and flavors going on when you ate everything in one bite. I would have preferred there to be more actual beef tartare, but my friend enjoyed it. Dolsot-Al-Bap with Uni ($20+$18) - hot stone bibimbap with flying fish roe, shellfish paste, sea urchin cream, and a side of uni. This was my favorite dish that we ordered. It was so flavorful. Stopped by for dinner as a party of 3 on a busy Memorial Day Sunday and got a bunch of stuff to share. Service was attentive and the food was for the most part very good. Really enjoyed the dolsot albap and the yukhwe (forgot to get a good pic of that dish) - different flavors from what I'm used to in Korean food, but super fresh and delicious. THe duck bulgogi was flavorful and filling and the pork soup was really well-seasoned. Meat was much more tender than I'm used to in pork soup as well, so that was a plus. Scallop DIY gimbap was probably the weakest dish we tried but even that tasted good. Excellent option for Busan fare in the area. Absolutely loved the food and service here. My friend and I have a multitude of allergies (shellfish and nuts) and the server and kitchen were very thorough and safe about it. There was only a limited number of dishes we could eat but they were delicious. The lotus salad was flavorful and very fresh. It may have been a bit overdressed but I loved it. The duck bulgogi was so delicious. Never had duck bulgogi and I think it's my new favorite bulgogi. It was cooked very well and was super flavorful. The ginger bingsoo was also super delicious and not too sweet. Would definitely recommend this Korean restaurant and even with the limited menu due to allergies I would definitely return. It came with rice and lettuce salad. The lettuce salad had dressing that was the similar to kimchi marinade...very interesting. The standout dish was the fried shrimp, which came with a delicious dipping sauce that reminded me of an old Szechuan "mayonnaise shrimp" dish that I haven't seen in a long time...really excellent. There's lots of delicious Korean spots in NY, but ARIARI takes a bit of a twist while taking a focus on seafood dishes that is popular in Busan. I made reservations just a few days prior with no problem and we were seated right away. The tables are pretty close to each other though as the restaurant is quite small. The dishes here are a bit on the smaller side, so they recommend 2-3 dishes per person. My friend and I were able to try a good variety starting with the Scallop DIY Gimbap ($29) and Yuk-Hwe ($19). The scallop has such a pretty presentation and scallops were fresh, but they were cut super thin that it didn't taste like much. I enjoyed the yuk-hwe more for a wrap experience, but either are solid options. The yuk-hwe is beef tartare with baby octopus and crispy fried seafood that gave it more texture than your regular beef tartare. Next up was the iconic Dolsot Al-Bap ($19), where they mixed for you tableside. It's a stone pot rice mixed with fish roe, shellfish paste, and uni cream. It had a hint of seafood flavor that works quite nicely creating a seafood rice. It's not too strong on the uni as it's just an uni cream on top. For the meat, we tried the Duck Bulgogi ($32) as you don't often see duck on a menu. This was delicious and flavorful. It would be ideally paired with some rice or noodles. To end the meal, we got the Bread Pudding ($14), which was sticky and warm paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall, we enjoyed every dish and found them to be quite special that you don't see on a menu everyday. I'd order the same dishes again, but also love to try other ones too next time. I'm quite intrigued by the fried eel, so hopefully will be back. Also, really loved the complimentary kimchi they have here --it's more crunchy and refreshing. WOW - having tried some other top tier Korean Restaurants and being less than wowed I came to this one with few expectations, I was wrong. The cocktails were a bit sweet for our taste so bare that in mind when you choose. I also had a Riesling which was excellent and rated 4.0 on Vivino. The pork belly course was divine, soft juicy and lovely chives, scallions beneath. Scallops self build hand rolls were fun and generous with lots of toppings. I have studied the menu for some time and every time I try to make reservations, Ariari are always fully booked. So I trusted my gut and decided to walk in and see! The wait was about 1.5 hours on a Saturday night at 6pm. I know wait time often puts people off but trust me when I say... it's worth the wait! Also, the service here from everyone we encountered was top-notch. The host was extremely sweet and our server left a lasting impression. We were checked on often from different people throughout the night and it felt attentive. We ordered the beef and seafood tartare, egg soufflé mixed rice, pork soup, and fried eel. The tartar was different from the standard but the flavors stood out and every bite was better than the previous. The pork soup was reminiscent to pork gukbap that I am fond of. We had some pieces of pork with the fresh kimchi and chives. The egg soufflé with roe mixed rice is a must! We were surprised by the fried eel. If my eyes were closed, I would have thought I was eating korean fried chicken - absolutely delicious from the crispy breading to the sweet garlicky glaze. This is a tiny spot in East Village, with Busan style Korean food. We made a reservation last minute and were able to snag one of the last times available. The interior is very cozy and compact, but there are still a good number of tables inside and it isn't too loud. We got the soft shell crab, uni bibimbap, bulgogi duck, and lotus root salad. This was enough food for the 3 of us but we also could've ordered another easily. The portions are pretty small and it is quite pricey, but the flavors were good! We all agreed the crab was our favorite - so light and crispy and the sauce was delicious. The bibimbap was so umami and rich, while the duck was very gochujang forward. I've already gone back to Ariari twice in a span of a month- that's how surprisingly good this place is. Old school Korean diner vibes. Their menu has tons of seafood options and they do it quite well whilst showcasing regional Korean cuisine from Busan (something that one can't easily find in NYC despite the plethora of Korean restaurants). They have good raw dishes, such as the Mak hwe and the yook hwe. Dishes meant to be a good and refreshingly cool start to a meal. One of the highlights of this place though is the spicy fish stew! While it may look intimidatingly potent and spicy, it's surprisingly clean with complex umami flavors. This is a phenomenal dish unlike other Korean fish stews I've tried. In terms of meat, the duck bulgogi was good. But I dare say that seafood is still the star in Ariari. Yes, it's owned by the same people as Her Name is Han, which is a lot more well known, hip, and Instagram worthy, but I honestly thought Ariari was miles ahead and was waaaay better. I've heard so many things about Ariari and it has been on my to-try list for the longest time, so I'm so glad to finally be able to say that I've tried it. Located near St. Marks, this restaurant offers Busan-style Korean food with a focus on seafood. Service here is fairly quick and attentive. The ambiance is casual and there's lots of Korean decor that reminds you of a homey spot in Korea. We ordered the yookhwe (beef tartare), makhwe (seasonal sashimi), dolsot albap (uni cream stone rice), and hotteok bingsoo. Everything was delicious. The yookhwe was a bit on the sweeter side than I would've liked, but still paired well with the seaweed. Meanwhile, the makhwe was fresh and I loved the garnishes that were given to pair with the seaweed wraps. The dolsot albap was honestly what I came for and a true highlight. We got: - Mak-Hwe: the fish was fresh and all the sides/sauces/seaweed to wrap everything in made it fun and elevated the flavors - Seafood Butter-Gui: buttery goodness!
