Delicious tapas place! Ordered the corn dumplings, the ribs, the lobster roll, and the noodle. My table's favorites were the corn dumplings and the ribs. I would definitely recommend ordering a minimum of 3 plates per person (2 if you're not that hungry). Service was friendly and attentive. The place is a bit small so I wouldn't do super large groups, but overall it's a nice restaurant and I'd come try it again!

Absolutely fantastic Korean-fusion tapas meal here. Loved every bite of all the courses I ordered. The gumbo was one of the best I've ever had and I really enjoyed that. Servers were helpful and nice, and the food service was prompt. Highly recommend checking out this place!

Phenomenal! We're in town for the 4th of July and found this little gem. The staff is very kind and made helpful recommendations. EVERYTHING was so delicious! We tried the Lychee capri sun, kimchi, corn dumplings (I will be craving these in the near future!), yellowtail, wagu oxtail spring roll, sweet potato, and the scallops - I could've drank the sauce because it was so good but I refrained. The scallops were cooked to perfection and I will also be craving these very soon. Highly recommend!

Mokyo is not your average Korean spot. The food served here is elevated, I was taken away by how complex some of the dishes tasted. Especially the gochujang cauliflower; it felt like the taste kept evolving as you kept chewing. The corn dumplings were fragrant and interesting in both texture and taste. The lobster rolls were delightful albeit pretty small. I would say the yellowtail crudo could be skipped, unlike the other dishes this one was a little boring. Taste overall was fantastic. The sake sampling was also nice but the food portion sizes were really small, so it does come out to be a little pricy. Not an every day meal, but still worth a visit!

Had a fun time at Mokyo with their modern Korean tapas! They recommend about 2-3 dishes per person. -Corn dumpling: my absolutely favorite (and we ended up getting a second order). I love the prominent corn flavors but with a cheesy, gooey filling. I loved how the dumpling skin was intact and chewy. The truffle sauce with some tangy flavors helped cut the richness of the cheese. -Yellowtail crudo: really enjoyed how the black pepper on top and in the sauce complemented the raw fish slices, along with some sliced fruit and peppers. -Noodle: loved the al dente noodles and how most of the flavors were delivered by the chili oil (with minimal chili/sauce etc). The use of cashew over other nuts was quite interesting and I liked it! -Oxtail spring roll: solid filling of tender wagyu oxtail and crunchy on the outside, but nothing to write home about. -Asparagus ceviche: wanted to get some veggies for the table and liked the leche de tigre sauce, as well as the seaweed paper. Could skip next time. Tucked away in the East Village, this place actually is very vertical and has a lot more tables/space in the back and than expected. It was nice, cozy environment - perfect for meet ups and a good dining experience. Staff were attentive. Interested in returning to try the other dishes and their drinks!

Winter Restaurant Week Review 5/6- I went to this popular Korean-ish restaurant around a week ago for Winter Restaurant Week. The menu is $45 here for four courses, though the dessert is split between two people, so I guess it's more like three and a half courses. The place was very loud in the front, by the bar, as well as at most tables near it, but we were thankfully seated in the back, which was a little quieter. We were waiting a bit for the last person, so a couple of us ordered drinks. I went with the Tenryo Koshu 'imperial landing' Junmai Daiginjo, which is $17 per glass. As per the name, this isn't just a junmai daiginjo but rather a koshu, or aged sake. This style is uncommon in Japan and quite rare in the US, except for some sake bars. The age of koshus can range from a couple of years, such as this one, aged 3 years, to much older, such as Daruma Masamune, which almost tastes like a blend of cognac or brandy and sake. This was a mildly dry mouth-coating sake with a bit of fruitiness, and was delicious. Another person enjoyed the $14 Lychee Reach Rich with soju, lychee, and mango, a collaboration with Thursday Kitchen, and it had a fun presentation with a light inside. All alcohol aside, the first course was mostly a choice between various crudos. I went with the Scallop Ceviche with tiger's milk and sunchoke. There was a good handful of sweet scallops, and the sunchokes added a bit of crunch. Aside from sweetness, I would not have minded some heat or citrus, but otherwise it was tasty. Another person liked the Yellowtail Crudo with salsa macha & grapefruit, and I might try that next time. For the second course, I went with one of their signatures, the Corn Dumpling with truffle salsa verde. The dumpling had a light skin, and the inside was sweet and salty from some cheese sprinkled on top. The salsa verde was herbal, with a bit of a kick and a mild truffle flavor. This was enjoyable, and I can see why it's popular. Another person liked the Wagyu Oxtail Spring Roll with kohlrabi kimchi. My third course, the Fried Rice X Lobster with XO sauce, was alright. There was a bit of lobster in there, and the dish had some good crispy rice with a bit of scallion on top for freshness. The sauce had a good kick but lacked a lot of umami, so it almost felt more like a chili crisp than an XO sauce. This was decent, but I would get something else next time if I were to go here again. Another person who tends to avoid spicy food enjoyed the Berkshire Rib with soy and muhammara. For dessert, we chose the Injeolmi Mousse with cocoa leaf and hazelnut. The mousse itself was soft, with a nice roasted soybean flavor, and the hazelnut added some crunch. While not the biggest dessert to split, it was still tasty, and I would recommend it. Some others liked the Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce and Valrhona Jivara vanilla bean gelato. This wasn't the most filling restaurant week meal, but we had a good time, though I probably would have disliked my experience much more if we had sat in front, as it was way too loud. Not everything worked, but it was worth it for $45. Mid 3 rounded up (would have been rounded down if we were in front.)

I've grown a little weary of the whole expensive small plates concept, but everything here was executed very well. The lobster rolls and scallops were excellent, and the restaurant is so cozy. Big fan and would definitely come back

Very cute interior and pretty delicious bites. Naturally I wish there was more of everything, but this is a tapas place! Fun drink options. The corn dumplings are a fun, flavorful surprise. Glad we got them. The wagyu spring rolls are very flavorful and fun to dip in every sauce as well. Kind workers and nice date ambiance.

I've been waiting a while to come here, so when a last minute reservation popped up on a friday night, I snatched it right up. There's a lot of parallels between mokyo and its sister restaurant thursday kitchen from the vibe inside, the fusion elements of the menu and the pouch-style cocktails. everything is small plate to share, 2-3 items is a sweet spot per person. server was kind, almost a little shy, but he didn't rush us at all despite being there near closing time. the corn dumplings were my favorite bite of the night, really reminiscent of the edamame dumplings at thursday kitchen. the dumpling didn't have whole kernels of corn, instead it was a flavorful pureed filling with notes of parmesan that sat on top of a warm sauce. I enjoyed the crudo, saw the attempt of latin-asian fusion with the chipotle, but I did find myself craving a lighter ponzu or soy based-sauce instead. the scallops were another favorite bite, almost didn't order as I wasn't familiar with the listed ingredients but turns out vichyssoise is essentially upscale mashed potatoes, and they immersed the scallops with so much flavor. lastly, I've heard a lot hype about the lobster roll from a friend, but think it was my least favorite of the dishes I tried. It was fine, an interesting mix of cheese and lobster that didn't enthrall me. great bites with lots of interesting and creative flavor combinations. i'd come back to experience other items, but not compelled to repeat a majority of the dishes I tried. st. marks place is also packed with bars, so plenty of spots to continue the night after dinner!

I've had korean tapas in several places, but this might be one of my favorites! The fusion here is more apparent in the dishes, and the environment is very chill. Here's what we ordered: - Oxtail spring roll - Sweet plantain - Tuna tataki (substituted for yellowish crudo) - Corn dumplings - Berkshire ribs - Noodle- basil, mala chili oil, and cashew The noodles and ribs were my favorite dishes. While the noodle dish is simple, they were cooked al dente and the sauce was loaded with flavor. This dish probably surprised me the most. The ribs were also really delicious and so tender! They have really unique dishes and definitely worth coming at least once even if it is a little more on the pricey side. Food also came out super quickly!

I found this place because I am going through a corn phase and wanted to try their corn dumplings. We has a reservation for two around 8:30 PM on Thursday. We were seated immediately after walking in and ordered. The vibes are underground, dimly lit. Everyone is dressed nicely. One note, the music is extremely loud, so you have to scream to speak to each other. Their menu is very small and curated. There are decent vegetarian options which they separate to the top of their menu. We ordered a couple of items: corn dumplings, cauliflower, scallop, noodle, and Injoelmi Mousse. Corn dumplings ($15) - These were delicious. The truffle flavor was so amazing and the sweet creamy corn on the inside paired perfectly. I would come back here just for this. This is a must try! Cauliflower ($17) - I would not recommend this dish. It just tastes like a sweeter and less crispy gobi manchurian (Indian cauliflower appetizer). The rasins also did not pair well with this, but the little dots of labneh were good. Scallops ($19) - This is also a must try. If you like seafood, then you will love this dish. The scallops are swimming in this creamy potato puree with so much flavor. Noodles ($17) - The noodles were a filler dish. Tasted like plain noodles. Not as bad as the cauliflower, but not great. If you are hungry, then order this to fill you up. Injoelmi Mousse ($13) - The description of this does not do it justice. This was actually so delicious with a chocolatly/hazelnut crumble and crunchy inside. I really enjoyed this dessert. I will be coming back whenever i'm in ny to get some corn dumplings!!

Korean restueautn that has a rotating seasonal tapa menu. It was pretty crowded and made a reservation. The food was great. We got the Berkshire rib, pop rocks , and gumbo. Also, a few tapas which I don't remember off the top of my head. The gumbo was spicy and delicious. The ribs meat was very soft and melted in my mouth. It was dimly lit space with great service.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.
