Seoul Salon was a great experience from start to finish. The ambiance is fantastic, and the decor is genuinely cool - they have an interactive art installation that changes as people walk by, which was a really fun touch. The service was also excellent. The staff were attentive throughout the meal, and when there was an issue with a dish at the table next to us, they apologized immediately and resolved it quickly. It was nice to see how proactively they handled the situation. Food-wise, the scallop dish was my favorite. It comes with a generous amount of scallops for the price, and it was absolutely delicious. The spicy octopus with risotto was another standout, definitely worth the pain if you're not great with spice! We also enjoyed the jokbal platter, which was really flavorful and perfect for sharing. My only small complaint is that I wish it came with a bit more vegetables to balance out all the meat. Overall, it was an incredible value. We spent around $90 for two people, ordered multiple dishes, and left very full. I'd absolutely come back. read more

Since we were going to an AYCE omakase later in the week, I opted for Korean food for my birthday dinner with my family. I managed to make a reservation to Seoul Station about 2 weeks in advance and we were seated upon arrival. For the 4 of us, we split: - Pine Nut Salad - Soy Scallop with Gim Rice - Spicy Raw Crab Noodles - Rose Tteokbokki with Gimmari - Jokbal Platter - Littleneck Clam Soup We had originally wanted the Seoul Salon Pasta too, but our waitress warned us against it, because she said the dishes we had ordered are pretty big and sizeable and we would have too much food. She was right. We did have too much food. But it was fine, because we ended up taking the rest home. The table favorite was the Soy Scallop Rice. This was so fresh, flavorful, and so delicious. We also really enjoyed the Rose Tteokbokki. This was rose tteokbokki done right - spicy, just a hint of tomato sauce, and with all the goodies. The Jokbal Platter is a huge portion, so definitely take that into account. It was really good though - the pork knuckles were so tender and juicy. Dessert was the Banana Bingsu. Came here for a dinner date and it was great! First, the atmosphere was lively and full of young 20-30s. There are two floors so plenty of seating, but we still made a reservation anyway. The three dishes we got were all very delicious. The rose tteokbokki was the best one I've had and the cheese fit in well with the sauce. The scallop rice had a sesame soy taste, and it was more refreshing and light. The marinated crabs were a bit spicy but also good. I will say, it does get a bit messy having to put gloves on to squeeze the crab and mix in, but worth it. As we looked around, we noticed these three dishes were very popular at other tables too. We made reservations to try the yellow tail special for 75 dollar for 2 people and we were not disappointed! Ambience reminds me of more clubbing or bar restaurants vibe down stairs and dining up stairs. Very hip and young vibe. We received it on the top floor and given some menus. Our table was wobbly which the hostess helped us fix, which was really nice of them. We ended up ordering the yellowtail special and a beer. The yellowtail special included a salad, mushroom porridge, cucumber, salad, and some sauce sauces. The sauces are amazing and the yellow towel is delicious. I absolutely loved the porridge that would get more of that itself. All the items included in the really complete the meal. For two people this is a good amount unless you eat a lot. For the boyfriend and I it was a perfect amount and we also planned on hopping to another bar or Tapa place after for more drinks. The in house rice beer that they had was also very refreshing and I recommend trying it if you like lighter beer. My only grape is, I wish they had ice underneath the yellow tail. My friends and I have needed a spot for girls night and scored a reservation for Seoul Salon. This place was absolutely packed for a Thursday night, so definitely grab a reservation before you go. We were seated in a smaller room allowing for a more intimate dining experience. We ordered their limited time yellowtail platter, grilled tteokgalbi, rose tteokbokki with gimmari, Seoul salon pasta, and jokbal platter. The yellowtail platter came with a seasonal porridge, cuttlefish, whelk salad, sauces, aged kimchi, and gim. While it's recommended for 2, it easily fed the three of us. Their rose tteokbokki was really flavorful but we enjoyed it even more after it had cooled down and the flavors seeped in more. Their seoul salon pasta was the perfect amount of umami and one of our favorite bites of the night! The jokbal platter was MASSIVE. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Needless to say, this is the place to go for good food and drinks with friends! We will be back! Seoul Salon feels like our second home so much that we've made it our weekly date night spot. The food is delicious with a great spread of Korean pub fare, but the drinks are what really set this place apart. The cocktail menu is a hidden gem with drinks inspired by different regions of Korea. The Bacchus Bomb is our go-to pick me up, built around an energy drink that gives it a fun little kick, and the Leatherpresso Factory is a slightly sweeter take on an espresso martini that is incredibly well balanced. Both are must orders. Beyond the specialty cocktails, the bartenders are fantastic at classics too and, if nothing on the menu is calling you, they'll happily make you something based on what you're in the mood for. On the food side, the fried chicken never disappoints, the grilled tteokgalbi and mala pork sliders are an absolute must, and the rose tteokbokki with gimmari is something we find ourselves craving between visits. We usually sit at the bar but the dining room is a great time too. Anytime friends visit us in the city, this is where we bring them. It works for everyone and has never once let us down. We got three dishes and had some leftovers as the food here is mostly on the heavier side. The Soy Scallop with rice was a light starter and I enjoyed the different flavors. Favorite dish was the Rose Tteokbokki with Gimmari. I loved the sauce! Very creamy and packed some heat. The Corn Cheese Spicy Jokbal was also good but very heavy. For readers who have eaten good sushi/sashimi know the distinct taste of yellowtail. Theirs didn't have it-was kind blame if you take out the dipping sauce. The risotto rice was also one the harder side. For drinks, very creative. The "rice cake" drink was BOMBBBBB. Went to Korea to see my sister and family and one of the places I went to was affiliated with this place called Flavortown. The food was good and the service was amazing at Flavortown. When they mentioned this place in NYC, I decided to go here when my friend wanted to take me out for a belated bday dinner. Based on my experience in their sister restaurant in Korea, I had high expectations. The spicy raw marinated crab was subpar and the crabs did not have roe. The dish is served with buckwheat noodles, which was a bit of a waste of time. They should have served it with a crab fried rice or something. The crabs did not have enough sauce for the buckwheat noodle to play the contributing part it was intended to. The fried chicken I was told was very delicious. I did not have the fried chicken because it was for the American that couldn't hang. However, how does one mess up fried chicken? Since we had nothing but not great things to say so far, will say this, the cuttlefish wrapped in seaweed and wasabi, that was money! If I were to go here, I would just have that and call it a day. P.S. there is a $35 golden drink, but you can get it for cheaper if you replace the not so impressive Casa Clase with something else. I told a chef at Flavortown that I'd check this place out so I did, but I don't think I will be going back. read more

Wow, now this is a proper 5 star meal! My mouth was in paradise the entire meal. The soy scallops are so tender, flavorful, and even creamy without the egg yolk. I wanted the dish to last forever. The cuttlefish is a fresh and fun dish you get to use your hands for. It comes with a delicious gochujang sauce that pairs well with everything else on the table too.
