Love love love the tofu stew in this establishment. I usually get the seafood tofu stew. I've been here quite a few times and the service here was always 10/10. I was seated immediately and ordered promptly. The best part of dining here is the ban Chan. You get the typical beans, kimchi, egg, fish. The ban Chan here is so delicious. The ambiance here is quite nice. The seats are comfortable and there is a fantastic vibe to the atmosphere. Pricing is comparable to other Korean spots in this area but I feel like you really get a bang for your buck at this restaurant.

Kimchi pancake + banchan (small side dishes)

Manhattan, NY (Koreatown) - I love BCD and frequent the one in Fort Lee pretty regularly, but for years have assiduously avoided this NYC location as it's always a madhouse every time I've come here for dinner with friends or co-workers, and because there are so many other great Korean options on this strip. But there's no denying that BCD has upped their soondubu game considerably in the last decade+ with a thicker, more deeply flavored broth, and now easily rivals my longtime favorite and gold standard, the OG So Kong Dong in Fort Lee. Then I stumbled into a hack that changed my view: lunch! I ducked in for a late lunch on a whim while walking by one day, and this turned out to be a much chiller hour, unhurried and no reservation needed. I was promptly seated, my order taken, and the banchan swiftly laid out. The banchan spread is solid across the board (the little fried fish does nothing for me, but seems to be a highlight for everyone else). I especially love the kimchi, near-perfect IMO, and the pickled cucumber. There's a modest lunch discount, which is a nice bonus for someone who likes to order aggressively. I usually get an oyster, seafood, or assorted soondubu (with a raw egg cracked in), danger spicy of course! Or go the C1 combo route with a galbi (marinated bbq beef short ribs) + smaller soondubu. It's an enormous amount of food, so I take most of the galbi home and feel no shame about it. The galbi, by the way, has also gotten noticeably better over the years - meatier, tender, and the flavor is on point. I've also enjoyed their bibimbap, bulgogi, jap chae, and seafood pancake. Finally, let's talk heat - this chili-head loooves fire! And BCD's danger level is one of the rare instances where the spice level actually meets my punishing tolerance for heat, not some pretense at "American spicy.," despite this being a chain. Their danger level actually means business and brings tears to my eyes, literally. It's still not my favorite place ambience wise, and dinner remains a contact sport I've mostly opted out of, as gone are the days that I can tolerate a culinary mosh pit, and any wait longer than 10 minutes (and only for a superlative place) will trigger an automatic ejection of my presence. But for lunch? Unexpectedly great. 4 stars for dinner, 5 for lunch.

    Bonchon

The bonchon was unique and different compared to what's typically being served in the Bay Area. What surprised me was the hot dog bonchon, which looks simple to prepare at home. The tofu stew was not bad, but it could use aromatics and addition of zucchini to make it a balanced.

The space is very large but because they are so popular, there will be a line for popular times. They have 2 separate lines for parties of 2 and parties of 3+. Our party of 2 got there around 5:30pm on a weekend and thankfully only waited a few minutes. Great deal on food! They are very generous with the banchan. The seafood soondubu stew was very seafood-y (which I liked). Everything was very good. You can control the spice level - beware, the spicy levels are quite spicy!! Can't wait to return!

BCD Tofu House continues to keep its Korean eatery traditions despite becoming an increasing tourist attracting restaurant. Casual restaurant with no frills attached, menus in Korean and English, endless banchan with unsolicited refills, attentive servers who never check in but are by your side the moment you need them. If you know, you know. The galbi and tofu stew are always delicious, but this visits highlight is the seafood pajeon. Such a hit. Always so crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and filled with seafood. So delicious! Of course there is always a wait. We went on a Saturday Night at 7:30. We were told 1 hour wait and we stood outside behind 5 parties of 4-5 in front of us. 3 parties gave up and left. We were seated in 20 mins total. I encourage people to just deal with the wait - it is almost always faster than they estimate! It was my first time sitting on the 2nd floor which I preferred over sitting downstairs because it's a bit more quiet and chill. 1st floor is packed and busy. Regardless that's all part of how casual this dining experience is.

BCD is about as reliable as they get. Their soon dubu tastes a little more like jjambbong than the traditional style, but it's still delicious. And honestly, where else in NYC can you get a complete, satisfying Korean meal like this at this price point? That said, their spicy pork BBQ was not good at all. I would recommend sticking with their soups. Service is quick and efficient.

BCD is just a classic spot and is consistently good and always tastes home-y. I decided to stop by for a quick lunch set and I'm so glad I did! There were a good amount of people eating during a weekday lunch and many were by themselves at a table. I ended up taking home leftovers because there was just soooo much food in the sets! Lots of banchan!

I had a delivery order from this well known Korean soondubu restaurant. I ordered Bibimbap with Beef, Seafood Soondubu-jjigae and Rice Punch. Everything was delicious. The bibimbap was fresh and tasty. It came with an order of rice, excellent banchan, consisting of kimchi, beans, pickled cucumbers and broccoli, and, a very nice fried yellow croaker fish. The seafood soondubu had clams, mussels and shrimp in a spicy soft tofu broth...wonderful. The rice punch in a can was new to me and I enjoyed it over ice. Well packaged and fast delivery. A well known restaurant with many reviews...I can see why it is favorably rated...highly recommended...will order again.

The LA Galbi was decent. Hit the spot but was nothing special. Quick service once I was seated. Almost hit my head every 5 seconds upstairs lol. Would come back if there's no line, but otherwise will try elsewhere next time I'm in KTown.

This is my first time going to BCD Tofu since the Bayside location closed so was excited to try it again! The service is extremely efficient, when I joined the waitlist, I was 16th, and I was able to be seated in less than 20 mins! I loved their fried fish as part of their banchan and was excited to try it again after so many years! I find the Korean pancake to be extremely hot and crispy when it arrived, and I loved that as well! For my entree, I got the beef soondubu and spicy pork combo. I had my soondubu mild, and did wish I had ordered it a bit spicier.

Galbi here never disappoints plenty of small plate starters and everything Ive had here so far is yummy. Service can be a bit inattentive though, so you have to be ready to wave down staff for refills or to get the check.

I went in mid May on a late weekend afternoon. Line wasn't long and it went quickly. The prices on the menu did increase. Check out the latest menu I posted. I had the Summer Special combo. I chose the cold noodles and Galbi for $28. It was ok and I wouldn't get it again. It's not my style. Make sure you have the waiter to cut the noodles because it's very chewy. Might choke on it if you don't chew it thoroughly before you swallow. My friend had the Seafood Tofu. The free appetizers are good. They refill some of them. I was expecting the kimchi with a stronger taste. It was kind of bland.

One of my favorite spots to eye while hunting for lunch in K-Town. I've walked past this place countless times during lunch breaks and in the evenings and there's always a line, which finally convinced me to try it. Almost every dish features tofu, and the menu has a great variety: dumpling tofu soup, seafood tofu, beef or pork options, plus a few non-soup dishes. I ordered takeout for lunch and immediately wondered why the bag was so big. Once I got back to the office, I understood why the portions are huge. Everything was packed neatly and thoughtfully, which I really appreciated. Now for the best part: the food. The seafood tofu soup was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. It came loaded with soft tofu, mussels, clams, and even a large shrimp. I love shrimp... just not when it's staring back at me so I skipped that part. Portion-wise, this could easily feed two people or be saved for another meal. The banchan were also a win broccoli, kimchi, cucumbers, and a small fried fish. When you order, they ask your spice level (extra spicy, mild, or non-spicy), which is always appreciated. Will I be back? Absolutely. Next time, I want to dine in and experience the service firsthand. Especially given the fact that the ambiance felt relaxed and enjoyable. The hosts greets you at the door. Really nice looking spot.

Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

We walked into a stylish but relaxed space that feels suited for both casual dinners and a night out with friends, with an atmosphere that balances energy and comfort well. The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The menu is designed for sharing, and the portions make it easy to order several dishes across the table, allowing you to try more of what the kitchen has to offer. The lively atmosphere adds to the meal, making it a good fit for group dinners where the energy of the room matches the pace of the food. Hojokban does a good job blending traditional Korean flavors with a more modern dining experience. It is a place where you can come for familiar comfort food while still finding dishes that feel creative and different. If you enjoy Korean cuisine and want a restaurant with a little more personality, this is a spot worth checking out. It delivers a meal that feels both familiar and fresh, striking a balance that makes it easy to return to and explore more of the menu.

I personally prefer the pancake from elsewhere but it was not bad. My picky daughter really liked it. The combo came with a steam egg and boy was that good. Our meal ended with a yummy ice cream for each of us. This meal however made a pretty big dent in my wallet. It was my fault for not checking the menu before heading in. I didnt want to walk any further with my toddler and my pregnant sister since it started raining outside.

Good portion sizes for the 2-person shared BBQ lunch- be it Bulgolgi beef, stewed soup, or Banchan…read morewith 6 varieties of small dishes. Soup and Banchan both receive high marks for how good they taste. Also ordered a separate beef short rib lunch special, the rib was cooked to perfection and the sauce applied was very flavorful. Servers were friendly and mostly attentative, restaurant decors and cleanliness of interiors and bathrooms were quite good. Would come back again next time in the Herald Square area.

I would come…read moreback here in a heart beat and when I do, I can't wait to try the other items on the menu!!! Galbi-jjim and mushroom sotbap is literally a match made in heaven. The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. Not too salty or spicy or fermented. Literally perfect!!! I actually asked for seconds. The cold cucumber broth was really refreshing Highly, highly recommend making a resy!! Deff a classy establishment

There's a main dining room and a mezzanine. I sat at the mezz and got an amazing view of the main dining room. Service here is amazing. The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame is that there's a $10 cake cutting service PER PERSON, if you wanted to celebrate a birthday. We got their fried chicken, beef tartare, 2 galbi jjim, and their bossam. Everything was phenomenal. While I think we could've skipped the chicken, the galbi jjim is a must-try. Cocktails are also great here. Amazing dining experience, food, ambiance, service, and I highly recommend.
