Sadly I have to post a negative review for Arie Nol. I went to them because of their reputation. Due to some questionable work at another shop, I was left with a terrible shudder under hard braking in my 1989 Volvo 240. This is a car I have driven for 13 years and dearly love. Because of its age I asked that they give me an honest evaluation before I threw any more money at it. They told me there was no reason that I should hesitate repairing it if I wished to continue driving it. They diagnosed the problem being brakes and charged me nearly $600 for the work. The day I picked it up I called them back and told them the problem was still there. I couldn't believe they had even test driven the car. They were planning on doing some other work which needed to be outsourced (driveshaft) so we agreed they could address this issue at the same time. This was all spring / early summer this year (2022). (Edit - June 2022 / $591.97) Weeks turned into months and I hadn't heard from them, so I called. Their immediate response was that they saw my ticket on the list, they had been short staffed and very busy and had intended to call me the following week. I asked that they do so. Another period of weeks / months went by and I contacted them through their website expressing my feelings about their service. It has now been several weeks and I've had no response. I have given them every opportunity to answer for this. The kicker is I took my Volvo to Discount Tire tonight for a winter tire swap and was told they couldn't even put it on their lift because of the rusty condition of the frame. Had Arie Nol been honest with me up front I wouldn't even be in this predicament; I wouldn't have invested the money that I have in repairs. Based on my personal experience with them I would not recommend them nor will I return with any other repairs. They essentially took hundreds of dollars from me and failed to repair the issues with my car. Update - 01-12-2023 The icing on the cake. Still no response from them except an auto-generated email sent today stating that it might be time to service my 1989 Volvo 244. Services include - you guessed it - "check brakes". I've always said that businesses make mistakes. It happens. But the true measure of a business is how they respond to those mistakes. I will not go back. Ever. Update - 01-17-2023 I responded to that automated email notification. I noticed the address was an actual email address and figured at this point I had nothing to lose. I expressed my disappointment with their service and asked to be removed from their database. Their response? They apologized for the automated email and assured me we would receive no correspondence in the future. Wow. Beyond that, they said this : "I spoke with the service advisor and looked at the record of conversations regarding parts and repairs for your vehicle. Not being able to source parts for your vehicle was an issue and even with the amount of time he spent working to source parts, he was unsuccessful." The record of the conversation we had was as follows : 1. We talked about the repairs when I dropped it off. 2. I called them the day I picked it up to tell them it wasn't fixed. 3. I called them many weeks later to ask what they were planning on doing and was told they'd call back the following week. They didn't. 4. I contacted them through their website weeks later asking about my status and got no response. 5. I responded to their advertisement in my inbox asking me to bring the same car in for regular service. This prompted their response that I would no longer receive any correspondence from them. (To be fair, at my request.) I would like to know at what point in this entire exchange they contacted me to tell me they couldn't source parts for my car. After, of course, they did. I have the receipt. For the record, my bill includes $122 to test drive my car. It must be extra to test drive the car AFTER repairs. I can understand being busy, being short staffed or having difficulty sourcing parts. These things happen and are outside their ability to control. What I can't understand is their utter lack of communication. That is inexcusable. Update - March 29 So, remember above when Arie Nol responded by apologizing for the automated email and assuring me I would receive no correspondence in the future? I received an email from them on March 11th. Guess what it says. "Hi Jon, We haven't seen your 1989 Volvo 244 at Arie Nol Auto Center, Inc for a while. We value your business and would like to continue servicing your vehicle." That's very different from "We won't work on your car because we have a hard time finding parts." And simply receiving the email from them is actually the opposite of "We will remove you from the database so that you will not receive communication from us in the future." Arie Nol's was recommend to me by a friend. It is hard to find places that are trustworthy now a days. It is a 30 min drive from home but most definitely worth it! I went in for a an oil change and it took only 30-40 minutes. Upon arrival, both staff members greeted me and made sure I was very well taken care of. Arie Nol Auto Center is the absolute best place ever to take your vehicle for repairs as far as I'm concerned, at least for foreign ones. They are friendly, polite, honest, and reasonably priced. They don't try to upsell you on anything, they just tell you what you need and that's it. If you're a woman, you can feel 100% safe going there without worrying about being taken advantage of because they assume you don't know anything about vehicles. Absolutely terrible experience. I really wanted to like and trust this place as I love nearby, but in fact got just the opposite of that. Had them do a timing belt, water pump, clutch, pressure plate and fly wheel. First time driving to work the timing belt jumped two gears, luckily it's a non interference engine, they tried blaming it on a Gate timing belt. Haha. Then when doing the clutch they messed up a seal and it was leaking transmission fluid everywhere. This did not install the flywheel correctly and now I'm stuck with it kicking out my starter.. I had to bring my car back there 4 other times just to have them keep making excuses and not fully fixing the problems they created. Wish I could rate this a zero star! Avoid this place and just go down the road to Thompson Auto or anywhere for that matter. Trust me, this place is not trustworthy. What's funny is that I have a buddy with the same exact car as me and he just installed the same exact parts as I tried to have installed & he encounter ZERO issues. All parts came from Flyin Miata which is the most reputable performance parts supplier specifically designed and focused around one type of car, the Miata. It wasn't the parts, it was the installer. Updating my post - I had a bad experience, which was the result of multiple miscommunications. After reading my review, itemizing my complaints, Debbie at Arie Nol reached out to me by phone and discuss each grievance in detail and try and work out a solution. The way they handled the situation from there was five star service. My only tip would be that if anything on your bill or paperwork doesn't make sense, don't leave until they answer questions to your satisfaction. They are very busy and you can feel like you're being shuttled out too quickly. I don't think they are trying to create that environment, it's just the way it is. But at the end of the day, Arie Nol cares about providing quality service and customer service. I'm very happy to say that they did right by me. Thanks Debbie. read more

My car had to get towed because it was not moving. AAA recommended this place, and I brought my car there. I am not from the area. They looked over it and fixed it free of charge. Apparently my rusty break pads prevented the car from moving, because I had left my car parked for so long. They were kind and even filled my tires because they were a bit flat. It was a huge relief. I do not know much about cars, and it was nice to not be taken advantage of. I do not write reviews a lot, but I had to write this one. It has been a few weeks since that visit, and my car still works well, and I have been driving all over Northern Michigan. Needless to say, I would recommend them. read more

I had a 2012 Mercedes towed into Arie Nol a couple of weeks ago because the vehicle wouldn't start. I was advised that the vehicle needed a feul pump sending unit as well as a feul pump and would roughly cost $1500. I gave the ok for the work to be done. I get a call at the end of the week stating the vehicle is ready for pickup I go in and pay 1452 I was advised by Cam that the vehicle needed gas as it was low. I drive directly across the street to Speedway as I begin pumping the gas gas begins to spill out of the vehicle onto the ground. I walk back across the street to Arie Nol and explain to Cam what just happene. Cam told me to bring the vehicle back. 3-4 days later Cam calls me back and says it was nothing they did wrong and that I needed a feul tank (imagine that) and that it would be $2700 to repair. I just just want my vehicle repaired I did not have a issue putting gas in my car before I brought it to them. I bring the vehicle in for one problem and pay a lot of money to leave with a new one. read more

I can't say enough how great the guys at Arie Nol are. Fantastic to work with, great mechanics, pragmatic about costs and repairs (not always trying to sell the most expensive option if a cheaper route will fix 90% of the problem) and trustworthy. It's a fantastic feeling to drop my VW off and feel confident in the mechanic and all standing behind them. They are always busy with repairs (a good reputation seems to go along way to bringing business) but able to fit repairs in timely. I have no problem sending my wife with her car and not worrying about them trying to fix phantom problems (brake light fluid type things). Highly recommended shop! read more

I cannot say anything positive about Arie Nol Auto Center: in my case, they delivered neither a quality nor a reliable service. They services my BMW, replaced a failed AC compressor, installed a brand new one, which started leaking 7 months later. This is when I brought my car back to them. Did they do anything? No, they did not. Instead of properly diagnosing the problem, when it was still under the warranty, they gave me a run around. In the result, the warranty expired, the problem stayed, and now they refuse to repair based on expired warranty. I will never use them again and will never recommend any of my friends and family to go there. What a shame! And by the way, they never returned the old BMW compressor that they replaced even though I ask them for that. It's a bad sign as I now know. read more
