Whenever I'm in City Island, this cafeteria style restaurant is one of my favorite places to grab some seafood with a beautiful view of the blue waters on a sunny day. My favorite items were the freshly shucked cherrystone and littleneck clams (dozen for $15), jumbo shrimp cocktail (6 for $14), and the fried soft shell crab (5-6 small ones w/out the head). These have always been my go to items here, and remain the best Johnny's Reef has to offer. Their fried scallops (about 18 pieces for $25) are tender, but I do wish the batter was crispier. I did not enjoy the doughy fried oysters (about 15 pieces for $28) or the dry fried whiting (huge piece w/ bone for $18). Btw, neither the Manhattan or New England clam chowder ($7 each) had any clam flavor. If I stick to what I like here and order simply those items, then it would be a very satisfying meal for a reasonable price. When I want a casual seafood meal on City Island, this is still my top choice.

This is a fast-casual, self-serve restaurant. Everything is made to order, so you'll always get fresh, delicious food. ** Cash Only! Each item is $1 less it you exclude the French Fries ** Seasonal restaurant: Open from the Spring until the end of November; closed during Winter. Johnny's Reef offers a wide variety of fried and steamed seafood, as well as pasta dishes. See my photos for their menu. There is literally something for everyone. Some of my faves: -- Scallops -- Snow Crag Legs -- Soft Shell Crabs -- Lobster; Lobster Rolls -- Shrimp -- Clams; Clam Strips -- and so much more!! This place gets packed in the summer; especially on the weekends. My fave time to go is during mid-day on a weekday. There is outside dining (watch out for those seagulls!) as well as indoor air conditioned dining. There is one long line to order your food but the line goes pretty quickly. Everything is self serve. Order and pickup your food. Then get your condiments, napkins, utensils, etc. Don't sleep on their tarter sauce! This is my fave fast-casual place on City Island for seafood! My fave waiter service sit-down restaurant is The Original Crab Shanty (located down the road). Go! What a treat!

I'm a…read moreprecovid frequent dinner and take out was never really my problem thing when I frequented here because it had a certain ambiance with the service when ever I dinned in there that brought me back over and over with different people to experience. So I was so very disappointed when after Covid they continued with the only pick up service. The food quality is enough to continue yes but the vibe dining in and at the bar I truly miss. My daughters fell in love with this place because every time we walked into that dinning room there was a particular servers who KNEW US. They knew us enough to know my daughters had a favorite table (the 1st we sat at dinning there). They know us to know that my daughters had special distinction drink mocktails (one of the reasons the fell in love wit this place) that they could order even when it was no longer in the menu. This was one of those places we frequented....even if they couldn't get their special table or waiter, the quality never disappointed. During Covid we order delivery regularly because we didn't realize how much this spot because our Caribbean food must have. I can't say we ever really had tried a different meal from over favorable ones that made us say this is one thing they don't get right to us. And the rum punches and Bob Marley drinks they served during their dinning days is what got me to the pin t I had to start stopping in this joint just to have a drink and appetizers. This really used to be by spot back when they had dine in services. Over the years it's in our delivery/pickup Bronx favorite list unfortunately. I say unfortunately because now that we are back at full operational living. I har to slash the delivery/pickup weekly rituals to only situations of desperation not necessity. So this spot has only become a craving order delivery/pickup order spot. Not a I got some/gonna make some time to go enjoy a drink and some Caribbean food spot destination. Which this was my #1 default choice before Covid as I said this used to be my spot. I would take my daughters here damn there biweekly if not be there weekly myself on dates and when hanging out . Cause they people there were serious enough about customer service they would acknowledge knowing who you are and treat you as such. Hence again why my daughters loved this place as kids. *Looks right and left* a yoo when yall opening the dinning in area again cause it's been log enough now...FIX IT! lol

I remember when Fish N' Ting first opened several years ago and I'm pleased to know that this family run establishment is still kicking. I would put it in my top five list for Jamaican restaurants in the city. The menu is wide and varying and accommodating of different diets. If you love jerk chicken, you need to try it here! The jerk chicken lovers in my life can't get enough. My recommended dishes are the whiting (fried) with rice and peas, rasta pasta and now the lobster (which I didn't know they had). The seafood is made to order, fresh and super tasty. I never thought sweet chili and lobster would be a good combo but it totally rocks! It was truly delectable. My only issue is that they charge for gravy if the dish isn't saucy (as if) lol but I get it!

Luckily, I had Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips on my list and it was on my way. I'd also been wanting to check off eating at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant on my foodie bucket list for sometime. This spot is going to count for me, at least until I can eat at one of his real-deal restaurants. While I didn't expect the place to not have a line, I was pleasantly surprised at how I was able to quickly place my order then grab a counter seat along the window. I was solo on this visit, so I didn't need a table, but those who had groups had to wait a few minutes to grab an empty one as the the restaurant was fairly full. The atmosphere is just like any pop-in, to-go place: casual, yet energetic, and feels approachable with a focus on serving quality food, rather than worried about a Michelin star. The only caveat is that the prices are a bit higher than most are probably happy paying, but you've got to remember its proximity to Times Square and the Gordon Ramsay brand. I got Gordon's combo which was a piece of cod, a piece of chicken, and three pieces of shrimp. All three were were crispy, flaky, and golden brown with a light batter that delivered a nice crunch, and the chips were hot and hearty. Exactly what you would you'd hope for from a restaurant built around this delicious British comfort food, especially with Gordon Ramsay's name on it. I'm not much for tartar sauce, so I can't speak to that, but I definitely appreciated the bit of lemon to add a bright burst of freshness. As it is more of a to-go/fast food style place, the presentation was surprisingly appealing for a quick-service restaurant. Paired with a ginger ale, it was a satisfying meal after a day of exploring the city.
