Whenever I'm in the New Rochelle area, I must go to Pepe's place. I love their fried shrimp, the rice and the fried fish. More recently, I've been loving the chicken and lamb over rice. The workers are really friendly too. can't wait for my next trip out to Pepe's!

I'm in Westchester for the week and saw this place on Yelp. It's a small spot with a couple of seats at a window counter. When I walked in, everyone was so beyond nice. In a really genuine way, like everyone who is there just wants to provide a great experience and share their delicious food. You place your order at the counter. The Buffalo Shrimp was perfectly breaded and crispy. I think their sauce is homemade as well. The order came with 7 huge butterfly shrimp. The fries were absolutely delicious. They are hand cut, no breading, perfectly cooked. Mac and cheese was also fantastic. The mac and cheese is oily, but it's so flavorful and cooked perfectly. This is definitely a comfort food place, and they do it the best. As I was about to leave, someone from the back came out and was like 'Chelsea..before you leave, we have something for you to try'. It was a tiny piece of their dessert of the week (their dessert is always changing). It was a Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake (or something similar). Omg. It was the best thing I ever tasted, and I'm normally a chocolate-only dessert person. Like a banana crisp made with real bananas and then a homemade cream that was super rich and flavorful. Wow. Get dessert when you're there too! I didn't let myself buy it because I would have literally inhaled it, but wow. Go to Pepe's!!

Ever been to a place that felt and smelt & tasted like home and even if it wasn't your home it was your idyllic home home. That's what Pepe's was like for me. I went on a Wednesday night not wanting to wait to eat too late. I stopped in. Everything I had was so tasty. I got an entrée of fried chicken dark meat (leg and thigh) of course with mac & cheese and they're vanilla sweet potatoes. Ahhhhh no complaints only kudos. It takes a little longer than most to get your food because everything they do is dropped fresh so give yourself at least a half hour. Call your order in ahead or order delivery.

I'd highly recommend the Thai chili shrimp and Ling combo. Was very tasty, tho I felt like they could've given Us at least 2 fish strips instead of one.

I decided to check out this place after reading all the rave reviews. I ordered the Thai chili shrimp, cheesecake, and two sides of Mac and cheese and candied yams. The thai chili shrimp were good and came with a nice dipping sauce to compliment the flavor. I didn't like the fries at all. They were flavorless, not even salted, and some were rock hard. I paid $20 for the shrimp and fries and certainly didn't believe it was worth the price. I found the mac and cheese to also be bland. While the aged cheddar gave it a nice mild flavor, there was no seasoning to give it more flavor. Similarly, the yams had a nice taste but would have been better with more flavor. The cheesecake comes with a new flavor each week so you don't really know what you're getting until the order arrives. My order came with a banana flavored cheesecake. The cheesecake is about the size of a cupcake. Im not really a fan of banana flavoring and also didn't think it was worth the $9 I paid for it. Overall, I definitely recommend giving this place a try. The food was fresh and I can tell they used quality ingredients. My personal preference is for more seasoning but I know anyone who isn't about that spicy life would really enjoy this place.

Hidden Gem!! Dropped by on a shopping errand in New Rochelle. So happy that I did. Although the place was empty, I walked in because of a strong recommendation. Super casual spot. The owner, Pepe, was in the back cheffing it up! Pepe is such a humble man, cheerful man. I appreciate meeting the man behind the restaurant name for a few moments. I ordered the Thai chili jumbo shrimp and ling (Whiting) combo platter with rice, lettuce and tomato. I also added a side of fries because.... well, they are fresh cut and I'm having a glutton Friday!! The fries were "home" for me. So many nights as a child, my mom would cut up potatoes and make fresh fries and I hated them because they weren't McDonald's fries Now, I will take my fresh cut fries over any fast-food spot! These fries are the real deal! Made fresh to order. Worth the extra calories. The shrimp and fish combo was also excellent! Well seasoned and atop a bed of flavorful yellow rice. My tummy was happy and I will be back! Always excited to support small businesses and it is truly a bonus to me personally when the business is Black/Minority owned. #MinorityOwned #BlackOwned

So amazing. Great tasting food, great portions, this place never disappoints! I've tried both their jumbo shrimp and fried chicken combos- always juicy and delicious.

I was welcome by a man named Mitchell. He was very welcoming, very pleasant and suggested that we should their fried chicken. In fact , my friend and I were in the mood for fried wings. So we decided to go with fried chicken wings and fries. We also had their cheesecake, it wasn't your regular degular cheesecake now. This strawberry shortcake cheesecake was the bomb dot com ! We love every bite of it we actually ate at there before we got our chicken lol. But Mitchell kept us entertained. We took the chicken home to eat and when we took a bite it was very crunchy but i wish it was cooked a little bit more i prefer my chicken fried hard.

Cannot wait to return! Do not let the wait time discourage you- this restaurant is run by just few people at any given time that work very hard to make AMAZING food. They may be short staffed at times, but that doesn't stop them from making high quality, delicious food. Portions are great and priced appropriately.

With over 300- 5 star reviews I gave this place a try. We wanted to sample all the menu highlights mentioned in all the Yelp reviews saying they were amazing. We were underwhelmed with everything: The "Halal" dish with lamb and chicken $9.50- is more like a small rice dish with overcooked, dry pieces of chicken and lamb mixed in with kale, herbs and iceberg lettuce. You'll see from my picture attached that the portion is so small it doesn't even fill the container. The thai chili shrimp with whiting fish $18.50- you get 6 pcs of shrimp and 2 pcs of fish with fries. The batter on both was decent but the fish tasted a bit bland and the chili sauce is ok but nothing spectacular the way these Yelp reviews imply. The fries are terribly soggy but my bf seemed to like them. At this price point I'd expect a larger portion and better quality. Save the money and go to City Island for better fried seafood probably for $3 or $4 more. The fried chicken with sides of yam and mac & cheese $16.50- the fried chicken has a great fried crispy batter but past that the chicken inside is gross and slimy in texture and taste. The yams are not very sweet which some may appreciate but i found them very stringy. The mac and cheese has good flavor but tastes a bit mushy in texture like the noodles is cooked too long or the mac and cheese didn't have time to set and combine properly. The weekly special pistachio cheesecake $7- ok, this was probably the best thing we ate! It has a dense texture and full of pistachio flavor although not a very creamy cheesecake but still delicious! For a total of $75, I had high hopes for Pepe's and it is also a black establishment which I would definitely support if the food was spectacular at it's price point. I'll also mention that I saw a sign inside the restaurant saying 10% off on future orders for Yelp reviews so maybe that might be why there are so many 5 star reviews, I don't know. But nonetheless, I probably will not be returning. AJ Burgers which is 3 stores up the street has quality, flavorful food at decent prices with huge portions, although not "soul food" go there you won't regret it.

Very bland shrimps with zombie fries:((( extremely disappointed:(

All true, but that's the issue. She can make good food, but it is not in any way shape nor form worth the terrible attitude that comes with it, she is not doing anyone a favor by having a business and I think she should just go back to selling bagged meals from her project like she used to do. I screenshot the messages SHE initiated and sent to ME through yelp and they removed them probably because of HER language, I only responded with foul language to combat her own. In one message to me she bragged about still being on welfare because that makes her smart (I blame trump for making fraud acceptable) $151 for a 5 bedroom townhouse she says and "dumb dumbs wish they were as smart as me" she says in one message. I don't think it's much of a flex to be bragging about how you work the system, and it gives talking points to evil republicans who want to take it away from those who really do need and depend on a social safety net. The owners criminal is extensive but has been keeping her nose clean for the past few years save the acknowledged fraud. I imagine running your business in the red every year is one way to stay on welfare and not have to be responsible. I was in one day when either the owner or her man's car was getting hooked up by the truck of repossession agent and oh lord have mercy was that a show to be seen!! I only wish I had the recording of it still but it was so long ago I don't want to look it up. TBH if she would just cook and avoid customer services altogether the place wouldn't be a place where I don't want to spend my money because of the type of person it goes to.. Remember the famous Seinfeld episode with a guy who made amazing soups but was so rude and ran it like a camp? Well this is the exact same thing but with soul food. It's like a prison canteen but with good food and the owner is the lady warden to prepare your food but ensure you don't enjoy eating it. The biggest mistake anyone can make here is going in with intention of exchanging money for prepared food

Because they literally go together. The Mac is cheesy and cooked exactly how I want it to taste. It sticks together and is never burnt on top. But I have tried the potato salad (a hit for sure), collard greens (seasoned to perfection), and the sweet potato fries (which I don't like, because I don't really care for a sweet potato fry. But they are steak cut and glazed with a sweet yet light glaze). As for the meats: I've had the fried catfish, catfish bites, beef ribs, fried chicken breast, baked chicken breast, fried chicken wings (BBQ & Jerk), and the salmon, crabcakes, and the ultimate feast. Oh and I've had their chicken strips. By far my favorite and frequently ordered are the catfish bites and chicken strips. The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

We ate in the brewery behind the restaurant (there's a cool service window to the back kitchen behind the bar!), and I could not possibly have expected the meal we enjoyed. The servings are generous and you will feel fulfilled at the end of your meal. My wife had the honey BBQ wings, and when you get the option, have these baked, not fried. I'm sure the fried wings are lovely, but the baked is cooked so tenderly that the meat was just falling off the bone into the sweet sauce below (which you should dip your cornbread in). Don't forget to ask for some house secret sauce for your food. I'm fairly certain you could put it on anything and it will become even more irresistible than it seems when you first smell the aromas wafting up from your dish. I have two regrets. The tater tots were nice and crispy and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado. They gave me a huge portion of crinkle cut fries, which also would've been great with a little more seasoning, but they were good when dipped in mayo. My husband got the shrimp and grits and appreciated the large portion size as well. I had a lemonade to drink. It was refreshing since it wasn't overly sweet. Service was great. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu!

Just as their tagline goes, this is undoubtedly a great place to get burgers, beer and grub. It's a…read moresomewhat small place with a great array of options, especially for lunch and brunch. Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.

So I was so very disappointed when after Covid they continued with the only pick up service. The food quality is enough to continue yes but the vibe dining in and at the bar I truly miss. My daughters fell in love with this place because every time we walked into that dinning room there was a particular servers who KNEW US. They knew us enough to know my daughters had a favorite table (the 1st we sat at dinning there). They know us to know that my daughters had special distinction drink mocktails (one of the reasons the fell in love wit this place) that they could order even when it was no longer in the menu. This was one of those places we frequented....even if they couldn't get their special table or waiter, the quality never disappointed. During Covid we order delivery regularly because we didn't realize how much this spot because our Caribbean food must have. I can't say we ever really had tried a different meal from over favorable ones that made us say this is one thing they don't get right to us. And the rum punches and Bob Marley drinks they served during their dinning days is what got me to the pin t I had to start stopping in this joint just to have a drink and appetizers. This really used to be by spot back when they had dine in services. Over the years it's in our delivery/pickup Bronx favorite list unfortunately. I say unfortunately because now that we are back at full operational living. I har to slash the delivery/pickup weekly rituals to only situations of desperation not necessity. So this spot has only become a craving order delivery/pickup order spot. Not a I got some/gonna make some time to go enjoy a drink and some Caribbean food spot destination. Which this was my #1 default choice before Covid as I said this used to be my spot. I would take my daughters here damn there biweekly if not be there weekly myself on dates and when hanging out . Cause they people there were serious enough about customer service they would acknowledge knowing who you are and treat you as such. Hence again why my daughters loved this place as kids. *Looks right and left* a yoo when yall opening the dinning in area again cause it's been log enough now...FIX IT! lol

I remember when Fish N' Ting first opened several years ago and I'm pleased to know that this family run establishment is still kicking. I would put it in my top five list for Jamaican restaurants in the city. The menu is wide and varying and accommodating of different diets. If you love jerk chicken, you need to try it here! The jerk chicken lovers in my life can't get enough. My recommended dishes are the whiting (fried) with rice and peas, rasta pasta and now the lobster (which I didn't know they had). The seafood is made to order, fresh and super tasty. I never thought sweet chili and lobster would be a good combo but it totally rocks! It was truly delectable. My only issue is that they charge for gravy if the dish isn't saucy (as if) lol but I get it!

Then choose some veggies like lettuce, onion, cucumber, tomato's. Sometimes, the lettuce looks a little old so be mindful of that along with the other vegetables. Then is a your choice of meats. I would recommend chicken over their new 'jerk chicken' personally. Lamb is good. You can mix and match half-half. As a condiment connoisseur, I recommend the white and green sauce. I'm not entirely sure what they are, but they're definitely a crowd favorite as other customers expressed their shared opinion with me. Orange and red sauces are spicy as you can imagine. Orange sauce is spicy enough for me, and this is coming from an Asian person that usually loves spice. Red may get you looking for some water. After coming here many times, I admit that it can feel a little odd when you pay because some serves will try to peak to see if you tip. This restaurant earns a 4 star from me because of its great taste, halal friendly, and open late nights (I believe up until midnight - don't quote me)
