I was skeptical to try this place at first. But once I heard the good word on it-- I had to try it out. Their fried stuff is nice but their steamed/sautéed dishes are not to be taken as second tier. You can't go wrong with the shrimp in garlic sauce. If you're not careful, That delicious garlic sauce always sweats up the bag- but you're going to want to use it for and on everything! Their whole fish plates are also worth having. My usual go to sides are the yellow rice or the tostones. I'm happy to report that they get them real crispy and delicious. However when that said garlic sauce steams it up- a quick airfryer session fixes it back. Housed in a small storefront, they use good flavors to keep old and new clients coming on a regular basis. Be prepared to take your meal to go and enjoy. No bathrooms for patrons but its a tiny takeout spot so keep moving along. The food is definitely worthwhile and for reasonable prices. 24 Hour Seafood is not a brand new idea in Harlem by no means, but this spot right here, just might have changed my life last night. Just saying! All the same elements as other well known/popular locations with the same concept... Fresh seafood in a walk-in cold storage that you pick yourself. Pre-packaged vegetable options that you can add to the meal you want to create. It's weighed & bagged by the gentlemen inside the fridge, then you pay, get your ticket and let them know how you would like it cooked (broiled, sautéed, steamed,... etc). Then the magic happens... they season and start working those pans on that grill to produce whatever you requested. I selected shrimp, red snapper filet and carrots to be sautéed. They seasoned it to perfection adding onions and green peppers to a garlic sauce. When it was all said and done it was laid over a bed of yellow rice. So dang on good and enough to have some for today... thank the Law'd. I see no need for me to travel over to Broadway any more. This spot isn't large but it's not a shoe box either. This place is just alright. I've ordered from here a couple times and it's a pretty popular neighborhood spot. They can fry or steam your seafood. Having had both, I prefer fried. The seasoning on the steamed seafood is just old bay. If you order vegetables, they will be overcooked. The prices here aren't bad. You can get a full meal for around $12 and will probably have left overs. It's also open very late at night so if you're looking for fried fish and chips at 11PM, this would be the spot. I might find myself here some time if the desire for fried fish strikes me suddenly, but more than likely, I'll be saving my money for better places around town. read more

I'm a fan of the steamed salmon and mixed vegetable (corn, broccoli, potatoes, carrots) platters. They can also fry your dish. I have to add a teeny bit more seasoning but that's the unhealthy side of me. The back of the store has a little mart where you can buy per lb or take it up front and have cooked how you'd like. Expect to wait a bit as they cook meals on the spot. They're open pretty late too which is nice! There's abt 3 stools but I wouldn't sit in to eat though. There is no smell and the fish rests on ice in a cool walk-in until you choose it for your meal. The Spanish speaking staff will fry, steam or poach your seafood in red sauce with rice. The ready made packs of veggies and the frozen fries are less appealing but very popular. I generally perch on one of the five stools and eat in, but an endless stream of neighbors orders takeout. Generally I order 8 fried shrimp for $4. They are panko crusted and expertly fried. Supposedly open 24 hours a day, I have been disappointed in finding Brisas closed, including some Sundays. Disgusting. Horrible tasting food cooked with low grade oil. It was so oily and salty. No real flavor. I got a fish that was supposed to be broiled and was not crispy at all. The people here have no idea what they are doing and unfortunately there is a language barrier. There are many restaurants in Harlem that still make it work even if there is a language barrier. I found the people working to be disorganized, sloppy and rude. The kitchen had dirty unwashed pots alongside pans and other pots that were being used for cooking items to order. I'm sure they will receive a health code violation soon, since it is so dirty inside. I will never eat from this place again. Revolting, It made my stomach turn.
