After spending the day out touring the Statue of Liberty, Liberty Island, and Ellis Island in the rain, I knew I needed to grab something to eat before meeting a friend to watch a Broadway show later that night. Luckily, I had Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips on my list and it was on my way. I'd also been wanting to check off eating at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant on my foodie bucket list for sometime. This spot is going to count for me, at least until I can eat at one of his real-deal restaurants. While I didn't expect the place to not have a line, I was pleasantly surprised at how I was able to quickly place my order then grab a counter seat along the window. I was solo on this visit, so I didn't need a table, but those who had groups had to wait a few minutes to grab an empty one as the the restaurant was fairly full. The atmosphere is just like any pop-in, to-go place: casual, yet energetic, and feels approachable with a focus on serving quality food, rather than worried about a Michelin star. The only caveat is that the prices are a bit higher than most are probably happy paying, but you've got to remember its proximity to Times Square and the Gordon Ramsay brand. I got Gordon's combo which was a piece of cod, a piece of chicken, and three pieces of shrimp. All three were were crispy, flaky, and golden brown with a light batter that delivered a nice crunch, and the chips were hot and hearty. Exactly what you would you'd hope for from a restaurant built around this delicious British comfort food, especially with Gordon Ramsay's name on it. Wifey picked up some Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips for us to try recently and I finally got the chance to give it a proper go. Here are my honest thoughts. The wings were decent. Nothing that knocked me off my feet but solid enough for what they are. The french fries were exactly what you would expect. Potatoes are potatoes and it is genuinely hard to go wrong there. Now the fish, which is really the entire point of visiting a place called Fish and Chips, was unfortunately a letdown. Zero flavor. Completely bland from start to finish. There are several sauces included and I suppose if you enjoy building all of your flavor through dipping that approach could work for you, but personally I would much rather the fish itself show up with something to say. The surprise standout of the whole meal were the dirty potatoes. Those were loaded up nicely and genuinely delivered. I would order those again without any hesitation. But the fish is what I came for and the fish is where Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips fell short. Given the name attached to this concept, the expectations walking in are naturally going to be elevated. They were really hot when they arrived so they were freshly fried. Batter has a nice crispy texture. The sauces were okay. There was a mixup and the fries with the combo were dirty fries option three instead of a separate order as we wanted. Service ok kind of slow and seemed a bit irritated. When we picked up our food the guy noticed the cocktail sauce had separated. Not sure if it was from sitting out but he took a toothpick and stirred it up. I've had both their fish, shrimp, and their fishwich (which is like a taco)! This is a bit of a pricey spot for fast food vibes, but it really is very tasty and fresh, and made fresh to order. For being in Times Square, it wasn't as welcoming as some other places. The price was a bit steep for what you got, even in NYC (almost $20 for 3 tenders and fries. Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips is very good if the focus is on the cod. I walked in one Thursday evening and I was the only one there, but it was evident the place had done brisk business all day long. I ordered the sampler with the cod, shrimp and chicken with an added side of cod for five or six bucks extra. The fries and your choice of two sauces come with the sampler. If you dine in, the presentation in a cardboard box is excellent for fast food. Everything comes on a bed of excellent fries, which were still good when I got home. I may not have been clear that I was ordering it to go. The chicken strip was the weakest link, but not bad. It was crispy as everything, given I asked for the order to be extra crispy, which was indeed the result. The shrimp was better, decent sized, crispy and sweet without the overly sweet and cloying taste one finds in a lot of places. The freshness is first evident with the shrimp. The cod is even better, fresh, crispy on the exterior and fluffy and flaky interior, very fulfilling. My recommendation would be to stick with the cod, their strong suit. It's not overpriced and the only ding would be the size of the cod fillets and the size of the chicken strip. They are a bit small, but the service is great here. And they have different choices of "dirty chips" aka fries lol and the one that's tried and true for me is the dirty #3 option. It has cheese, sour cream, CHUNKS of pieces of bacon and I mean tasty chunks no shortage! The sauces complement everything SO well and I just LOVE their lemonade. At the Vegas location I know for extra you can pay to have vodka in your lemonade but I did not check at this location I'm not the biggest drinker. I did however try their Biscoff shake and it was DEMOLISHED in minutes and soo good!! 10/10 food! The service is absolutely wonderful and let me tell you these employees are working FAST to get you order ahead given how busy this place is! After eating lunch in Times Square, we decided to walk over here to get some fish & chips to bring home for dinner since we've been wanting to try it for a while. There was no wait to order, I got 2 combos- the fish and fish & shrimp, and they were ready quicker than expected, 5-6 minutes. I felt like for $20+, there should be at least 5 pieces of fish in the combo, not just 3. The shrimp & fish combo had 3 shrimps and 2 pieces of fish. We opted for the Gordon's tartar and sriracha aioli sauce. They use the same batter for their fish, shrimp, lobster, and chicken- not a bad thing. The fried fish and shrimp were crispy and cooked to perfection, so no complaints there at all. The fish had a lot of meat instead of just filler like most places, which is a positive. Both dipping sauces also paired well with them. However, the fries were very disappointing being too thick and dry. It was worth trying, but would I come back and eat it again? Gordon's Combo ($20) comes with a sampling amount of fish, shrimp, and chicken. It lays on a mountainous amount of fries. Get the Dirty Fries ($4) add-on for more variety in flavor. Out of all the sauces, the Curry & Mango was a unique choice but I will always gravitate towards the Sriracha Aioli. The fried seafood seemed fried fresh to a beautiful golden color with a full crisp outer shell. The fries being the bed of it results in them being soggy though. Good to try once if you're looking for a different fast food in the area. read more

Gordon Ramsay stands for good quality food. This reasonably priced combo had fries, fish, chicken, and shrimp. It was good. I would go back again. It's very close to Time Square. We were looking for this place in NYC since we went to Reno and had GR Fish & Chips, so I figured there would be one here in NYC. I recommend this place. I would visit there again, as we visit NYC from time to time. The service was good, and the cashier was friendly. There is not much ambiance, but overall, it is clean place. read more
