The college search and application process is stressful and can be very confusing. Erin Goodnow was…read morethe perfect coach and advisor for our high school senior, especially in a Covid world where old patterns are upended. Erin is kind and compassionate and worked with our daughter to help her identify a solid list of schools. From there, she was a great guide - putting in place a system to keep our daughter on track with applications, essays, and all that is required to put a solid application together. As decisions come in, Erin has been a thoughtful sounding board - helping navigate choices, giving well-received advice, and sharing her own ideas. Bottom line - she is great. It was an investment that we would make again and recommend to others. We have a younger son, and I look forward to working with Erin when the time comes. The only thing I would do differently is reach out to her earlier....probably sometime in the junior year. Note - I am writing this as our daughter is in the midst of the process, and I think that is the right time to write this. The review is not meant to suggest that Erin is a guarantee to any school, or that is even what is best for a kid. Rather, she is a great counsellor through the process, helping her students self-identify the right fits, and there are many, through the process, a word I used a lot here. Maybe a kid writing a college essay would find a better synonym, but I already went to college (!) and it fits. It is a process - it takes time, patience, and trust. I am confident that Erin Goodnow and he team at Going Ivy are the right folks to walk the path with.

My daughter needed tutoring, so we called Tutoring Club. I initially spoke with a gentleman named…read moreRyan, who quoted us a total of $300 to $400 a month for 3-4 hours a week. When we got there, Daniel greeted us, and we did both the assessment and planning appointments ( he had us waiting 10 minutes past our appointment time for the planning appointment) with him. We later found out that it wasn't $300-$400 a month for 4 hours a week, but rather $360 a month for 12 months, covering 96 hours, and they run a hard credit check. This means she would be getting 6 months of tutoring for basically $360 bi-weekly, which felt misleading. I'd rather go to a tutoring place that doesn't do a hard credit check and is upfront with their prices. Additionally, Daniel was rude when I tried to discuss my daughter's needs; he would cut me off and talk about himself not even addressing or acknowledging what I just mentioned about my daughter.

I'll admit that none of the kids were particularly excited to start tutoring but what elementary kid would be? After four weeks in, all three of our kids look forward to tutoring days. Clean facility, nice staff, and an owner who knows what she is doing! If your child needs a little help, leave it to Gina and her team to get them where they need to be.

Advice based on my experience:…read more 1- find the teachers that teach in a manner you understand and adjust your schedule to be in their classes, if possible 2- read the chapter before class 3- take notes and pay attention 4-plan plenty of time to do homework the same day you went to class. There's plenty of homework. Do it all, a few times The teachers aren't great about answering questions in an understandable way (example- some asks about question "X". The teacher responds "well it's obviously not A or C so that leaves B or D and B is clearly the better answer of those two. Any more questions?" Umm...if we knew all of that was "clear" we wouldn't ask. I waited to take my school exam until a couple months after finishing school and I had time to really study and retake the exams they give in the packet. I passed my second time. I did buy some of the study materials (flash cards, dictionary and the practice exams on CD) I found these helpful and essential to my learning. Highly recommend the CD!! I passed the state exams the first time.

I live in the SE part of the valley, so that is too far for me. I decided to give the Gilbert campus a try, and I'm very glad that I did. It was very easy to sign up for classes and the two ladies at the front desk, Kerstin and Charmaine, are very friendly and helpful. The instructors are all very professional, knowledgeable and available to help. Most of them even give their contact information so you can ask them questions outside of class. Most importantly, even though I took the Crash Course, which the instructors say is like drinking from a fire hose, I was able to pass both the school test and the state test on the first try. I couldn't have asked for more than that.

Blueprint is really where it's at when it comes to LSAT prep. Dylan is a fantastic instructor. He's…read morereally funny and understands the LSAT backward and forward. My score went up 12 points from my diagnostic (I'm retaking in June because I know I can do better if I re-go over all my homework from class) I think I would suggest taking the class meant for the June LSAT and take the October once you've had enough time to really solidify everything. It's a ton of homework and a lot of time for someone who works full time and goes to school full time. Worth every single penny though! I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to do the homework and go over everything before the next class. If you have more time to spend, I would just take the class meant for the LSAT you are studying for. I looked forward to class most of the time and always felt more confident about the LSAT after leaving class. I was also not nervous going into the test and that peace of mind is worth the money right there. I would highly suggest it if you're serious about the LSAT and serious about getting into law school.

His helpful hints, particularly on eliminating answer choices quickly helped me a lot. My biggest problem was time and I think Dylan did a lot to help that. Private LSAT tutoring is very expensive but if you can afford it I highly recommend doing it. Even if it is just 10 hours, it will make a noticeable difference in your score if you implement what is taught.
