We absolutely love Smokey's! My wife is a big fan of their ribs. Each of their varieties of bbq sauce are delicious. I am a big fan of their shrimp skewer; you wouldn't expect it at a bbq place, but I really like it! The sides are equally awesome; especially the bbq beans and the green beans! Service is above and beyond. The speed at which these folks work is impressive, to say the least. The wait staff is always on top of their game. Keeping drinks filled and making sure everyone is happy. When it comes to the vibe Smokey's rocks, I can't say enough. Totally retro! Surprise - I'm back! My 3rd visit and it was just as delicious as the most recent visit! The waitstaff are friendly without being intrusive. We both ordered the Rib special which comes with 3-4 ribs, two sides and garlic bread. I chose fries & baked beans. My friend chose coleslaw and baked beans. We both ordered sweet teas. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. She even gave us fresh teas to go. This time, I remembered to take pics of our food. However, when the cherry cobbler w/ice cream arrived - it looked so yummy that I neglected to get that pic. Trying to decide what to have for dinner I turned to Yelp, as I often do. This place has mostly good reviews, so I decided to take my daughter and go give it a try. We arrived and walked into a a dining room with a sign directing patrons to "Please Seat Yourself," which is what we did. I love the vibe in this place, the decor is reminiscent of the bbq places I would visit with my parents in the late 1960's and early 1970's. I ordered a two item combo with ribs, sausage, green beans, and bbq beans, which was also served with garlic bread. The beans, both kinds, were freaking off the hook! Delicious! The ribs and sausage were really good, too, especially when eaten with the different varieties of bbq sauces. My daughter ordered a pulled pork sandwich and french fries. She said her meal was very good. Lastly, I overheard another table order peanut butter pie. I haven't had it before, so I asked if my server could pack it to go, since I was full after finishing my dinner. She said yes and boxed it up for me. I ate it later, and wow! It was awesome! Walking in I am excited thinking man this place has been transported from the 80s this must be legit pit bbq. We both ordered two meat plates, beef and pulled pork turkey and ribs. Two sides bbq beans Cole slaw and green beans. I have to say the sides were the best sort of the meal aside the Cole slaw which was a bit sour for my liking. The bbq beans and green beans were very well flavored and perfect serving temperature. The turkey and the beef looked like lunch meat slices barely paper thin and they were not very warm. Not typical of a real pit bbq in my opinion. The pulled pork was nothing special either. Luke warm meat you had to drown in the bbq sauce to get any flavor. The ribs were moist and surprisingly seasoned. They were the warmest meat on either plate. We did not get the garlic bread and after seeing what they pass off as garlic bread I am glad. They appeared to be anemic angled long skinny slices of buttered French bread. No resemblance of any garlic bread I've ever seen. I'm looking for fat slides of Texas toast if I am getting it. I certainly hope I saw something different. Walking out we did peer into the kitchen and did not see an actual pit. The meat could be cooked on a grill or smoked and just being kept perpetually warmed in the kitchen. Until I see a pit it's not legit. Our waitress was wonderful and the sweet tea was on point. This bbq joint has been here a long time. All their meats are Smokey and flavorful. I love the sliced pork, sausage, and spare ribs, though the ribs are hit and miss on the meatiness. We have eaten a few times and although many people rate other places higher, my Queen and I absolutely love Smokey's. Our # 1 in this Area. Be sure to request their Hot BBQ Sauce, we certainly did. Needs to teach their employees that customer service is vital to a business. Rude and disrespectful while trying to pay the bill! My 85 year old father is one of the nicest men around. Comes in with his service animal and is a retired disabled Army Major. All he did was ask if you offer military discounts, since the two cops in front of him were given a discount on their bill, BTW he was an Escambia County Sheriff's Deputy earlier in life. The woman at the register could've just said no, but instead, she was rude and chastised him in front of everyone just for asking. The place was pretty empty when we went, but the vibe is comfortable and the staff is extra friendly with local hospitality. They are happy to make orders custom, which was appreciated, as we have some food allergies. They provide a couple tasty sauces on every table, but there are more available if you ask! My husband reports (after much experimentation) that the best flavor combo is mixing the original sauce and the honey mustard. They won't chase you out of the restaurant if you dine past closing time, and this would be a family friendly environment to bring kids. Really good food on the cheap! read more

I went through the drive-through this afternoon and ordered my food. I got home and discovered my full order was not provided to me. I called Smokey's and told the nice young lady what happened. She asked how far away I lived from Smokey's and I told her about 15 minutes. Before I could ask for my ticket to be adjusted she said she would call the owner and then call me back. She called back and said the owner said he can't do anything for me unless I came back with all the food. That is unacceptable to ask a 30+ year-long customer to spend their time and money to correct their mistake. The young lady also let me know one of the kitchen workers said he put the full order in the bag, implying that I was lying. It's disappointing that they would treat a customer like a thief when they are the entity stealing from the consumer. This would have never happened under previous ownership. read more

Rating one star because for one I've worked in enough restaurants and am an major food lover and also critic and from the three separate times I've eaten at Smokey's my final assessment is that the food is unfortunately a very low quality and taste cheap and rushed, as well the sauce is god awful, I'm not trying to be overly rude in this review but both sauces they offer are horrendous and couldn't reasonably called bbq sauce, it's more of a flavored ketchup then anything and the flavor is not good, and the garlic bread they offer for an up charge doesn't have any garlic flavor that I could taste as well as being quite a strange way to cut and serve the bread when compared to any other garlic bread I've ordered anywhere before, now onto the sides, the coleslaw is completely non seasoned not even a dash of salt or pepper, the baked beans are mashed and low quality and drenched in the same awful sauce we talked about before which ruins them and the fries are well..fries kinda hard to mess that up, the scenery is nice I'll admit and they stay busy so someone must like the food and as far as service goes it was okay, nothing spectacular but also not terrible, the food did arrive within 30 seconds of ordering which concerned me for the standards and quality of the kitchen but other then that that's about all I can say about Smokey's bbq read more

Me and my sister were on a road trip from Orlando to Houston and decided to stop in Pensacola to get some gas and some grub. I had really been hankering for some BBQ and we decided to stop by Smokey's. From the outside it looks like your stereotypical BBQ spot in a transient city, very rustic and western. The inside was the same! We got in and you could smell the different BBQ sauces they had and different meats too. The crowd was definitely full of regulars (which isn't a bad thing) and the servers were pleasant. It took them a little bit to get our order (they have you seat yourself and they come to you). Luckily, we got there before the lunch rush so we knew what we wanted. I got the pulled pork, garlic bread, baked beans, fries and chicken. Everything was good but the fries didn't really have any seasoning. the BAKED BEANS though. If I would have known how they tasted, I would have gotten a double order of those with some garlic break. Sausage was good, garlic bread was excellent, sweet tea very good, pulled pork was a bit tough and dry, and the chicken was ok, if not a bit dry. Service was quick and excellent. There appeared to be only 2 waitresses, but they did well keepi g up. This was Tuesday evening about 6pm. Cashier was extremely polite. Overall, I'll go back. I came in for an early dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, classic country playing really low in the background like an echo from decades past. This is an old school BBQ joint. Nothing pretentious just great food for a good price. Efficient and friendly waitstaff. Clean tables, even the sauce bottles were clean (shock!). Ok so I left a review 2 years ago about how good this place is. Just wanted to give an update on my thoughts. I will have them cater my wedding, I will eat the sliced pork special w french fries & coleslaw on my mf deathbed, and then have them cater my funeral. it's not on the menu, already assemled, but if you order the smoked sliced beef, 1/2 pound, an orderof french fries and a brown gravy you can lay the smoked roast beef right on top of the bed of french fries and pour gravy all over it and just slice and eat. Very good. read more
