This is the burger spot for Pensacola. Great little outdoor venue. When I say outdoor, I mean there isn't an indoor. If your looking for some AC, you will not find it here. You order at the food truck on one side of the property and the bar is on the other side. They have a full bar with multiple TVs for your sports viewing pleasure. They also have a small section to play bags if it's available. Now let's talk burgers. You have 4 options. Single, double, green chili and Hawaiian. I had the double with all the fixings. Proper Burger is located behind Vinyl Music with outside bar on Garden Street. What is so special about this burger? Well it's a smashed burger. Believe it or not, even when smashed it was still juicy. Served in a brioche bun, is what makes their burger tasty. The burger is perfectly seasoned with slight crisp texture and juicy. Smashed burger seems to be the recent trend; although, Steak and Shake and Culver's with their butter smashed burger has been around. Proper Burger tastes better. Is it worth $9 for a single? I will leave that to you. $3 extra for the half a tray of waffle fries. A can of soda was over $2. I guess from a single burger, fries and can of soda is about $15. Service is simple, not full service. You order as if ordering from a food struck. They give you a beeper and will buzz you when your order is ready. It's not a full service restaurant and during check out they suggest a tip with their touch pad Point of Sale system. I still have a slight issue with non full service restaurant suggesting a 15% - 25%. To me, it's a big turn off. I did give in and gave a 20%. Is it well deserve? No. Is it a deterrent for me to come back in the future? Definitely. Especially when Ketchup, Mayonnaise, and Mustard are served on a side in single packets. For this, I gave them 3 stars instead of 4. When you expect a tip, you better give full service. For this they lost a star. It's a cute little pocket to hang out when it's a nice day outside. read more

It's was looking for a dang good smash burger and Proper Burger delivered! Located in a permanent food-truck location off of Palafox, this restaurant offers outdoor seating and fun atmosphere. I was optimistic about trying Proper Burger, but first the music was so loud that I found it uninviting, so I took it home. I tipped the obligatory 20% although was -0- service, just a lady in a food truck. The fries were good while hot on the drive but limp and soggy after I got home (15 min drive). I did not like the burger at all and threw it away after a few bites. I especially didn't like the sweet pickles instead of dill. I neglected to ask for cheese but wish they'd had cheddar, instead of American cheese. My wife and I tried to stop in for a bite and a cocktail but we were not welcomed! We were just looking for a chill afternoon. We had our son with us and he wanted pizza so we picked up a slice at Papas pizza across the street (delicious btw!) and walked over. We were checking out the food truck menu and someone came over and told us we'd have to leave since we couldn't bring pizza in. We tried to explain the pizza (one slice!) was for our son and we were going to order burgers but all we got in response was a blunt and rude you cant bring pizza in. Came with my boyfriend yesterday, been throwing up since 5am . 100% have food poisoning, i've ever been this sick in my life .

We ordered online. When we arrived, the guy was sitting outside on his tablet by the fan. Told him we were picking up an online order and he said it would be a few minutes. We got our order about 10 minutes later and headed home. This was a WASTE of $35! The burgers aren't even edible, they are burnt, dried out and just a big disappointment. I unfortunately don't live close enough to go back and ask for him to attempt to make them again or give me a refund. Sadly you've lost a customer. read more

Saturday in December, no college football games in the way.........what to do? Time to go get into something! Our something today was Proper Burger and B Side! I really haven't been hearing any noise about or from Proper Burger, but we thought it was a nice enough day to get outside and enjoy the winter weather here in Pensacola. It was 77 degrees and partly cloudy, perfect! We each ordered a burger and the three of us shared a full order of fries and believe me there was plenty! I went with a Double Proper Burger with bacon, all the way except for the sauce. I asked for it to be on the side. Helen did a single with jalapenos and our friend asked for a single, no veggies and added bacon. Our order came out reasonably quickly and it was perfectly correct. Nice start! How was it? There were zero complaints from me or the ladies. The fries are very good and well seasoned. As eluded to above, it's a huge order too. My burger was properly cooked with a great char, and it too was properly seasoned. It is a very flavorful burger. It has the right cheese and lettuce for burgers, American and iceberg respectfully. Unfortunately there was no option for mustard and mayonnaise. I do respect the burger culture of each place we go and I try to order their burger the way they make it, at least for my first try, and sauce on the side is a safe way to go until I know what the sauce is, and what it tastes like. Theirs is super good, reminds me of comeback sauces I have had elsewhere. The atmosphere here at B Side is fantastic. They had a DJ and he was playing some instrumental music that was perfect, and it was at a volume that allowed you to hear your friends. It is situated on Garden Street, so easy to people watch in our new busy downtown. The cocktails were inventive, tasty and strong. More on B Side later. This was a great way to spend a couple of hours lazing away a Saturday afternoon and leave with our bellies full. How does Proper Burger stand up to the competition? I'd say top five in Pensacola. It doesn't beat Brown Bagger which may be the undisputed champion here in P'Cola, but the atmosphere here is a level up from Alga. read more

GREAT food and very KID FRIENDLY!!! My wife and I agreed that this could have been the best cheeseburger we have ever eaten. They have a kid's meal with fries for only $8. Jenga blocks and corn hole are setup right next to the DJ who played Baby Shark and The Hokie Pokie for us about 10 times a piece! The bartender dude even put on the Disney Channel for the kids so they could enjoy a few episodes of Bluey while they enjoyed their kid's meals. I highly recommend having your child's birthday party here. The bouncer at the gate said he even does balloon animals for tips! Make sure to ask the bartender for extra cherry in your Shirley Temple! Very Excited reading all the vegan, vegetarian menu option on the Proper Burger downtown web site. Many items that looked very appealing. The large unique healthy menu shown on the web site was the reason we drove Downtown Pensacola Proper Burger at the vinyl music venue only to have the worst experience. The menu on the web site did Not resemble in any way what we found. Instead of the dozens of Health eating options, we found a closed food truck with Nothing. and the menu shown was Nothing like what is shown on the web site of Proper Burger. I ask the person in the food truck if that had any of the option and the answer was " all we have is a black bean burger and we are out of those". No other food available. There was a sign on the window that said " will return at 2:30", which was crossed out, followed by 3:00, which was crossed out, followed by 3:30. Not the web site menu, and Not open. All this with an outdoor seating area and Bar FULL of people wanting food as this was at a large outdoor event. Who ever at the Vinyl Music Venue or in charge of the Proper Burger menu / web site needs to be replaced. zero food, zero staff, zero dollars being spent in an outdoor food truck surrounded by hundreds of people. Most food trucks would die for such a location. This empty food truck with a fake online menu is just a shell taking up space. We will warn our locals to avoid and will never return. read more
