She's efficient, gentle, and incredibly thorough, making this most recent cleaning a comfortable experience. I genuinely don't think I've ever had a dentist as extraordinary as her. Her work has never disappointed me, and this visit was no exception. I went in for a yearly exam and routine teeth cleaning, but three months later I received a bill saying my insurance didn't cover the services. The bill didn't even clearly list the service names, so I had no idea what exactly wasn't covered. I chose this place do to previous reviews but I have to say that I regret choosing it. I gave 2 stars because this is your typical doc in a box play, they definitely seem competent. However, I wanted a lot more information about my teeth and my situation, as I indicated when I registered for the appointment, and I feel like I was on a conveyer belt being pushed through the place like a factory part, in one door and out the other as fast as they could push me through. The hygienist was good, and nice. Then the Dentist comes in seemingly out of breath, gives me a quick look, rattles off some things and then leaves. I had to have the hygienist explain what the heck she was talking about. Next thing I know, I'm being ushered out the back door to the billing receptionist. I plan to see if my insurance will cover me going to another place now, but I doubt it, until next year. So now my care will have to wait because I really don't want to go back to a place that provided about 10% attention to me and my needs. read more

This practice is a real find--I have been receiving amazing services from Dr. Joseph Oh and his staff for more than 20 years and I would highly recommend the practice to anyone. I would NEVER visit this office again. The dental hygienist was incredibly rough. At the time, I was experiencing a lot of anxiety and stress, due to the pandemic and other factors. My musculoskeletal pain in the jaw was due to this, and this ONLY. They incorrectly diagnosed me with TMJ. I was then referred to the dentist's father - Dr. Chong Lee. This was an ABSOLUTE disaster. I was pressured and muscled into spending $8K to get my TMJ fixed. Eventually, I got some money back, but not before he tried to diagnose me with an incredibly rare condition he had no knowledge of. They took advantage of me during a really rough time. All I can say is they are lucky all I did was complain, and not report them to the State Dental Board. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. read more

I've been going here for about a year now and I love this practice. I normally see Dr. Kirsten Lee but have also been seen by Dr. Kim - both are amazing. The whole staff is kind and helpful with no bs. There was recently an issue with my insurance when I went to check out, but the receptionist worked through the problem with patience. I needed a crown in a highly visible spot, so I didn't want to go just anywhere. I chose Dr. Oh based on his Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. He wasn't the cheapest option, but it's your teeth -- not a place to cheap out. Dr. Oh was very conscientious and went to great lengths to make sure that my procedure was done well and that I was happy with the end result. And I am very happy with the end result. Pretty good experience here. Came on a rainy Friday morning for a cleanup and checkup. The cleanup went relatively smoothly, I waited about 5 mins, filled out my forms and was on the chair watching RRay's daytime show (which sort of sucks btw). Cleaning was quick, efficient, and pretty gentle. She informed me I wasn't flossing correctly, and showed me how. Unfortunately, the doctor wasn't in because his wife went into labor, so they rescheduled my checkup. They did take xrays, and let me know they would call Monday when the doctor was back. Monday they call and tell me I have a cavity that needs filling. So, sadly, I come back Tuesday and Dr Oh takes a look. I appreciated his honesty, because he looked for about 10 mins, said I had good teeth and no cavities. To be honest, I probably would have believed anything he said, so I appreciate that he was honest and didn't have me spend $80 for something I didn't need. Overall, great experience, comfortable and upscale environment, and honest doctors. read more

For someone who has had the same dentist since age 8, of course no one will ever get a 5 star rating. :-) I chose this dental office based off of Yelp ratings. I enjoyed my experience. The receptionist, Nicole, was super sweet and helpful. I think the hygienist [Jean] did a good job with my teeth. Just a tad bit rough and not AS thorough as they are back where I'm from. But once again, being bias. I can't remember which doctor I had, but he was really nice as well. I appreciate their updated technology too. Clean environment. Seem to do well with little kids too. They were having fun. My only con is that they kept trying to suggest I need braces from Invisalign. They might be TOO obsessed with "perfect teeth." I love my teeth and if my dentist of over 10 years has never mentioned it [she always gave me home-care instructions] before, I don't need them now. They weren't PRESSURING, just annoying. However, I understand its still a business. I'll always miss that "we've seen your grow up, you're like a daughter" town feeling. My dentist is awesome, she was even there for my graduations! lol. Also in agreement with the 5 star reviews. My last dentist had huge organization/billing issues so I decided to go somewhere new. Everybody was polite and on time. Most of the chairs are set up so you can watch TV during your procedure. I can't stand the Today show but it makes a world of difference to be able to watch something and keep your mind off of the pain. I've seen both Dr. Oh and Dr. Mortazie, both of whom work in this suite. Both have excellent skills and are very gentle. Being that I metro to the location, I've been 10-15 minutes late before and they've never had an issue accommodating me (there's also a parking garage on the side of the building). When I've been on time, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The receptionists will call you 24 hours before to remind you of your appointment (a good reminder for a forgetful person such as myself). The suite itself is bright and modern, with new equipment. They have TVs mounted downwards, facing the patient chair. Let me repeat that: they have televisions. I watched Sportscenter through a filling and it was done before I knew it. Whoever thought of this idea was a genius. They can even put the x-rays up on the televisions to show you exactly what they're seeing. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I've been here four times since moving to the area and never dread it. One of the best dentists I've been to, and highly recommended. read more

Dr. Oh is great! He's really straightforward, and talks you through everything. He lays out your options, and all in all is very communicative. They even send texts and emails to remind you about your coming regular appointment. I didn't think some people could be better at this than others, but he's really good at anesthetizing. I know that sounds odd, but typically I'm anxious about a huge needle in my gums. He does it really well though; it just pinches and then I'm all happy and numb. I have to travel a little out the way for them, but I think it's totally worth it. Parking is a breeze in the garage they have. read more

I picked this practice based on fellow Yelper's reviews. For the past 2 years, I have been trying to find a good dentist (after leaving mine after 20 years in his practice). Who knew it was so hard? Well, I can stop looking after my appointment today at Drs. Lee & Oh. Jean, one of the dental hygienists, was great. My cleaning didn't hurt and she was friendly, professional, quite knowledgeable, and very thorough. As a medical professional myself, I am quite picky about my own care, but I was thoroughly impressed and put at ease. I also met and was seen by Dr. Lee, who immediately gave me peace of mind with this friendly, but straightforward demeanor, knowledge, and treatment plan recommendations. I had some pretty brutal tooth pain that turned out to be an emergency wisdom tooth extraction, and I just moved to Virginia, so I didn't have a dentist lined up, no records, etc. These folks got me in at the last minute, took a panoramic x-ray, and referred me to an oral surgeon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/northern-virginia-oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery-associates-annandale-5), and they were super helpful about the whole thing. I have been a happy patient of this practice for 3 decades! Love everything about this place, from the cable TV in all the rooms, to the painless dental procedures (yes painless) to the wonderful helpful happy staff. I started with Dr. Lee and was sad when my health plan changed and the practice was no longer in network. After two years with a different practice, I was thrilled to re-join the practice when my new health plan provider again offered the practice in network. I began seeing Dr. Oh, and have been a delighted patient over many years. Both Dr. Lee and Dr. Oh are great! This is an office that respects your time, I think once I waited 10 minutes for an appt in almost 30 years with the practice, otherwise appointment times are very punctual here. This is also a great practice for people who are afraid to go to the dentist, I always recommend the practice when someone tells me they have not had a dental app in ages as they are afraid, they do not believe me when I tell them of painless fillings and crowns but if they check it out they too rave about their experiences. There are bad dentists, there are good dentists, then there is Dr. Kirsten Lee and her staff . Professionalism, kindness, and confidence in services provided are three descriptors of this practice. Dr. Lee and her staff always went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable, and that the dental work was done right. Explanations for procedures, outcome expectations, and realistic reccomendations for optimal results were always provided. The only 1 issue I have is... that I didnt come here sooner! This practice is good, but expensive. If you are someone who values the doctor-patient relationship over price, this practice does good work. But, if you believe as I do that there are many good dentists offering quality services, then shop around beforehand. I have been a customer for many years, so I did not ask for a price quote before I had work done that my insurance didn't cover. After I received the bill, it seemed high, so I called four other dentists for quotes using the identical billing codes from my own procedure. All four quotes were less expensive. The lowest quote happened to be my wife's dentist, who would have charged me $850. My price: $1500. TIP: Insurance companies pre-negotiate a discounted price schedule with each dental practice for covered services. These fees are usually 25% or more below the dentist's "list price". If you have insurance, but the dental work you need is not covered by your policy, call your insurance company. Ask them what the pre-negotiated price is with your dentist for the procedure you need. Then, ask your dentist whether she/he will honor that price. I learned that in DC, the law REQUIRES dentists to offer you the insurance company's discounted price. In MD and VA, there is no such law, so dentists can set their pricing arbitrarily. If your MD or VA dentist won't negotiate, find another dentist who will, or consider having the work done in DC where the law is more consumer-friendly. All fees are negotiable. read more

I feel if you have something negative to say then be proud enough of your opinion to attach your name to it. There is nothing more frustrating than having to read someones bad experience and then having them hide behind an anonymous user name. I'm sure if you had such a bad experience the office would be more than happy to try to remidy this issue. Anyways, I just had my second cleaning with Dr. Oh and it was great. I had the same hygenist and she was great, she remembered me and was very polite. I'm not sure what these other people are talking about but I am very meticulous about customer service and nothing I have seen at this office on multiple levels has concerned me. I have had years of bad luck with my teeth after knocking them out on the playground in 3rd grade! I am terrified of the dentist! But then I met and fell in love with my dentist! Dr. Oh! He turned my frown upside down and during the whole process helped with my anxiety and made sure pain was kept to a minimum. I am as high maintenance as it comes unfortunately due to a latex allergy. But Dr. Oh and his staff are always conscientious and thoughtful and put me at ease. His office staff are friendly and helpful and feel like family after all these years! This is a great dental office! I was searching on Yelp to find a recommended dentist and tried calling a few others, but those offices couldn't get me in for weeks. I called Dr. Oh's office and they got me in the next day to check out something I was worried about. I had a cleaning and Dr Oh found a cavity. My appointment for the filling was the next day!! I loved this convenience because I could get the filling over with without worrying about it or it causing me more pain. The staff are always super friendly and helpful and I really enjoy going to the dentist. Also, there is a free parking garage right next to the office, they just have to buzz you in.
