I have nothing but praise and appreciation for Matt and his team at Arlington Fuel. They are so knowledgeable, transparent, and patient. They go above and beyond when answering questions and addressing concerns. I pay $299/year for their Total Comfort Protection Plan, which includes an annual evaluation and tune-up for my oil/water heating system. At his initial visit in Fall 2023, Matt spent additional time out of his day to give me a detailed and accessible overview of my system, since I was new to oil heating. He pointed out details specific to my house/plumbing system, and taught me preventative care. Fall 2024, his employee Mike came by for the annual tune-up. Mike was just as patient and knowledgeable, and immediately addressed the issues I brought up (faulty basement thermostat and a noisy radiator). Stay away from this place. Arlington Oil is very quick with their services, however, it is very lack of organized and their contract is very vague which won't protect you from future conflicts or arguments. They will find all the possible excuses to charge your extra money. Stay away. read more

After a home inspector found issues with our burner that our previous provider missed, we switched to Arlington Fuel and couldn't be happier. I forgot to schedule an annual service for the burner and understood it would take a while for the visit. Not long after I got a call for an opening, and in addition to fixing the issue identified by the home inspector the technician identified and resolved another problem that could have been a serious safety issue. A couple months later we were without heat when a component failed and Arlington Fuel was in the basement working on it in fifteen minutes. I had some trepidation about having oil vs gas, but after all the gas explosions in Lawrence etc, I'm embracing being "off the grid". Anyways, I needed a refill and reached out to AF due to their high-star rating. I sent a yelp message, and Matt the owner immediately got back to me for an inspection appointment, and filled my tank the next day. This is clearly a company where service is king. "Service" is not usually something you associate with any kind of utilities, but I've been impressed with these guys so far. I'll continue to use them indefinitely and I suggest you go here first. We've had nothing but an excellent experience with Arlington Fuel. We've been using them for 3+ years to fuel our home; which has a very old (1920's) steam heating system. We called them recently because of a few issues with the old radiators and Matt was not only quick and good at his job, but he was also extremely knowledgeable about his trade. Matt provided us with superior customer service! He replaced our hot water heating with a system that never goes cold, I can do laundry and wash dishes and shower now all at once. He explained we could get a rebate from Mass Save and submitted all the necessary forms for us. When they first denied our rebate, he submitted another invoice with an explanation as to why we qualified and sure enough, we were refunded the $500 we were entitled to. One time, on a very cold winter day, our heat and hot water stopped working. I called him and he was here in 10 minutes and everything was fixed immediately, and has been working like a dream ever since. I was amazed how quickly he came, and we live in Woburn, two towns away. Like Marion, we started using Arlington Fuel Oil over 35 years ago when Paul was running the company. Matt worked with Paul for years, then took over when his parents retired. They have never failed to come out and fix a problem regardless of the inconvenient time or weather. I agree with Marion that they go beyond the basics, finding solutions for problems, and providing good advice as well as good service. We feel they are the best. We had been purchasing oil from a different local vendor for years, and somehow got on their will-call list without our knowledge and likely after a miscommunication. Well, two days before Christmas, we noticed our oil was low... really low. It was clear we weren't going to make it through the Holiday with heat. We tried to arrange a last-minute shipment and, after begging for a shipment, were told that this was 'our problem' to solve. So, we looked elsewhere. We noticed that Arlington Fuel had great reviews on Yelp, called, and within 30 minutes, had a full tank of oil. They are very sleazy, they delivered additional gallons of oil and charge you more than you actually requested. Do not let their advertised price fool you. When I tried to solve the problem, they told me they would pump out the additional gallons, girls ( Taylor & Margo ) in the office are incapable of any common sense. Arlington Fuel is a great heating oil company to work with. The family that runs it are really decent people. Last winter, I needed a new boiler and they quoted me a good price and got it done right when I needed it -- that is to say between Christmas and New Years Eve, despite a huge snow storm the day after Christmas. They really saved my bacon and couldn't have been nicer about it! The fuel service is excellent too! They have also given me good advice about other people to do work on my house.
