I like this company! When you call their office, you always get thru very quickly to a live person. The people at the office (such as Tara) are always friendly and helpful. We have both gas and oil accounts with them. The pricing is good, and they have good prebuy options. Our fuel deliveries have been dependable. We have a service contract with them for repairs and cleanings. We've found that they are very good about making sure our furnace is in top shape. I like that the technician they send to our house is always the same guy. You get to know him, and he gets to know you and your heating equipment. We've had accounts with many other oil/gas companies over the years, and we found that this company is one of the best. They've treated us well, and that's why we'll continue to stick with them. read more

very unhappy with this company. my propane was leaking. they came out and fixed the leak. 5 days later it was still leaking. they sent same guy back that did shoddy work to fix his bad workmanship. they wanted to charge me for him fixing his work. I spoke to their customer service, their billing, and manager in service. they all assured me I wouldn't be charged. well, what you know. they charged my credit card. scratching my head how all 3 people ignored not charging me, or were they hoping I wouldn't look at my credit card bill. read more

Today, I woke up with no heat. Everyone at Eastern was pleasant and helpful, and I had my heat back before noon. Otherwise, I'd only give them one star. The main point is that I'm on automatic propane delivery, and this is the third time I've run out. I've been trying to resolve this problem for three years to no avail. They have multiple customers in my neighborhood so it's not like they are making a special trip. When I called to complain they were fairly dismissive and told me to go elsewhere. I have been a customer for 30 years and have overall haven't had an issue until now. They were so kind when I first moved in to show me how to light my pilot lights, and the service people always gave me good advice about using my gas appliances, since I was new to using gas instead of electric. I always paid promptly and made sure that the path to the tanks was kept clear of snow and leaves, etc. Last year, we Installed a tankless hot water heater and took a long vacation in the winter, so we used less propane. Last fill up was in September and I just got a bill now for "rental" of the tanks because I did not purchase enough last year. 1. No warning about this It is NOT listed on every invoice like they claimed on the phone 2. They could have refilled in December and I probably would have made the minimum. After 30 years, this is the thanks I get for being a good customer. Very disappointed. read more

Terrible company. Our bill was $500+ in the dead of summer. When we called to see if they could send someone out to check our meters they said we must have the heat on and it couldn't be their meters. Even though the meters on our house were from 1986! We keep calling to get them to send someone to no avail and meanwhile the bill keeps going up $300-$500 every month even though we turned off the heat. Terrible company. Really high L.P. prices and fees. My church used Eastern as a supplier for L.P. gas for years. This winter I noticed we were being charged $5.34 per gallon, though the average price of L.P. gas in New England was around $3.69 per gallon. I talked with a service rep, who said we should be paying over $6 per gallon because our usage was low. I explained that we were a church which had been closed due to COVID and then had to remain closed for a few months because our furnace had to be replaced. Their service department replaced it last summer at a cost of over $4000. They didn't budge. They added a tank rental fee because we were below their minimum usage. When I talked to the customer service rep again, I told them that we were planning to switch suppliers. She told me there would be a tank removal fee of $100. We are switching to another local supplier which quoted us $3.89/gal. They have no tank removal fee and a tank rental fee is only charged if we use less than 1/2 a tank in the course of a year. I like the service department and think they do good work, but their prices and fees are ridiculous. read more

The woman who answered the phone, was so helpful and pleasant and dispatched someone to our house to assist. The person who showed up came quickly was extremely professional and personable. Inherited Eastern with the house I purchased. Had no idea how propane works until company came to take the tank a year ago. Rather than being helpful setting up an account they said call the office. Tried that couldn't get through and forgot about it. Company never reached out to me, year later (today) they just take the tank and say call the office. I can't fathom why they wouldn't reach out and try to establish a customer and instead just send the guys out to take the tank. Maybe a better approach would be to send a salesman? I reached out to a competitor who was floored by this story. It's not the end of the world we just use gas for cooking but imagine if it was for heat? It's going to be in the teens tonight. Two weeks without gas is not fun but at least I have a supplier who seems to care now! read more

Justin came to my house for a routine boiler/furnace servicing. He went above and beyond by checking my fireplace and showing me how to increase the flame height, set up the unit to run when the power goes out, etc. He is a great guy and a wonderful example of what customer service should be. It has to be the worst company on this earth. I tried to get a pool heater vented and hooked up to my propane supply. They sent an idiot out in APRIL who didn't know a pipe from a bucket of water. He said he would have someone call to give me a price. That never happened. I called several times during the summer and heard the same line. The last call was he would be there tomorrow. He came and that was early July. Did we hear back? No! I finally called and asked why you wasted my time and your man hours and finally hung up. Now to spite me they have called it a day on me. The worst part is I have two accounts with them. One large account and another moderate account. Unfortunately, my wife arranged a prepayment plan for this winter. If there were a 10 star rating I would give 10 to the customer service and Ben the gentleman that came to take care of my situation today. When I called the young lady was patient and sent someone out to me within a 1/2 hour. He was polite, taught me so many things about what was going on and why how to know when there's a problem and what steps to take. He even taught me how to read the meter so if customer service asks I will know how to do it. Gentleman and very professional. Your energy consultant, Marc Murgo came by my house today. He treated me so well that I am switching from Dead River to Eastern. I had my old furnace red-tagged by Dead River. Today I had a new propane furnace install. Dead River was not going to install propane tanks until Dec. 15. I have no heat or hot water. I talked to Marc on the phone and he was here in under a half hour. He set me up with a new account and will be delivering the tanks in a week or so. read more

Danny was very Professional and polite as he introduced himself to me as my new Propane Delivery representative. Danny was very aware of my property and took extra care as he pulled the hose off the truck and into my yard and pool area. Danny made sure the hose did not rub against my fence or personal property in the area where the Propane Tank is located. Ok yeah i'm on hold Live-Yelping to keep myself calm as I'm put on hold and hung up on again and again. I have no choice but to get these idiots to come unseal a tank that was full from the previous tenant. Must pre-pay the high rates for Propane before they'll even schedule an unseal - and I've been trying to get a warm body over to unseal for over a week after paying for 2 full tanks! They have my money so why would they rush for me? I can't cook anything or take a hot shower and its REALLY getting old. The people I've talked to over the phone seem competent enough but no accountability. I've waited on hold now for over an hour collectively between phone calls. This is not acceptable by any means of customer service but I'm reviewing not to trash the place or the people, but the management of this area's coverage. Its truly pitiful and once I've gone through the hassle of waiting on hold 3 times over 2 weeks - I get "Well i'll put you in for tomorrow but I can't promise it will happen..." I REALLY hope the district manager of this place is taking note. You are about to lose a TON of business. Idiots! read more

Most people write reviews to complain, not this one! I have been a very satisfied customer for 10 years, still am! Automatic Oil delivery has never been an issue. The Danvers Service Dept (has been exceptional). Call Center always answer the phone no mater what time it is! Eric P. great guy always does a great job with my annual inspection/tune up. Don H. (Service Manager) took care of me back in Jan 2015. While I was temporarily living in NC my wife called me to inform me the boiler was leaking back home. Don (his technicians) immediately took care of diagnosing the root cause and replaced my boiler before a major snow storm was heading our way with record cold temps. Don assured me I did not need to make a special trip from NC to Mass and that he would take care of everything, which he did! (Thanks again guys, Great job & I really do appreciate the quality service.) Chuck D. Met Chuck (great guy, very knowledgeable) this week August 2019. Chuck replaced my leaky boiler pressure relief valve, and he did the annual tune up. Chuck provided guidance, information, and answered all of my questions regarding my Boiler & Hot Water Heater. Chuck recommended a change to the flue/draft control vent since the original oil guy (Not Eastern Propane) set it up wrong (or could have been configured better) when they installed the system when I built the house. Eastern is a decent company, with superior Customer Service, Technicians and Drivers. Prices tend to be in line or better than most, but here's the kicker; If you leave Eastern, they CHARGE YOU to remove THEIR tanks. If the tanks weren't partially filled, I'd have let them rot rather than paying $100 to remove THEIR PROPERTY. Any chance they had of us ever returning was destroyed by this experience. read more

I had a new service connect. I'm only running a gas stove in the house. They install a 200lb tank, which sits in the middle of my yard because of code offset regulations and then they have the nerve to charge me a $100 tank rental because I don't use at least half the tank in one year. Being a newb to propane installation I called other propane dealers and not only do they not charge anything for tanks, but said I should be running like a tank that only holds like 30gallons of propane which I could locate much closer to the house. I guess Eastern's motto must be "anything for a buck". They could have easily said, "Yeah, you don't need a tank this big. Check with some local providers". Thunder and lightening couldn't stop our competent and intrepid service person who efficiently and thoughtfully did the necessary inspection and testing of our propane system. We bought a house with a 500 gallon tank in the yard. They will not come to fill it it with less than 250 gallons. Our last delivery was was 350 gallons which equals $1100. I don't have $1100 hanging around so we paid them a couple hundred a month. They sent me a disconnection letter and two days later capped my tank. I called them to ask why and they said it was capped due to non-payment. I explained that I had been paying them. They told me they would not remove the cap until the full balance of $700 was paid. Eastern does not care about their customers. They woo you with promises of efficiency, savings and great service. Truth is they are only looking to bleed your wallet. read more

Literally the worst place I've ever had to deal with. Had them for heating and cooking gas for a little over a year and had to fight with them every single month about our bill. Now ending service with them we had a $150 credit and our last bill was $87 so they are sending a check to us for $62 and they still charged our account $87! They also charged us almost $300 in the middle of summer then didn't take money from us again for 4 months. They refuse to refund unless it's by check saying they only cut checks on Wednesdays so it'll take 3 weeks to get your money. They love to screw people over. So whoever is thinking about switching please think again it's the worst hassle and if you call customer service get ready to be put on hold for at least 20 minutes minimum. read more
