When I went to get a check up, I did not have to wait long at all. The dental hygienist, Ashley approached me, led me to the exam room and started to do x-rays of my teeth. Afterwards, Ashley cleaned my teeth. The cleaning took the longest. Then I met Dr. Chow. He took a look at the x-rays and made sure I did not have any cavities. I mentioned that I felt some pain in my upper right teeth. He made sure to closely look at my row of teeth. I highly recommend Dr. Chow. He knows what he needs to do and quickly does it. He makes sure I understand what is happening. Located at the Landmark building, the 2, 13, 3, 9, and 4 buses go there. After the appointment, walk around the plaza. Come and get your teeth cleaned and examined. Dr. Chow is the best!

After the numbing took effect, the only pain I felt was in my jaw ... From the bite guard to keep my mouth open .... for 2 hours :( My cheek ended up becoming swollen. He said it's due to the fact that because we have so may blood vessels in our cheeks, the numbing needle may have punctured through one. Meh ... I didn't feel a thing, but looked like a chipmunk with one side of it's mouth filled with nuts. Dr. Zampetti did my root canal. And I gotta say, he's really professional. He stopped every so often to ask how I'm doing. And every time he had to drill, he'd tell me that I may or may not feel a weird feeling. That 'feeling' felt like chucks of teeth breaking off .. but not really. Even though I didn't feel anything, I kept asking myself when the hell are they going to be done!!!! My jaw hurt so much :( Thank gohd they took the bite guard out about 15 minutes before he was done. Anywho, after he gave me a script for antibiotics and painkillers. Ended up not really needing the pain killers. The numbness is gone now. The pain is like a dull pain ... I can handle that. I still got the swollen cheek, been alternating between hot and cold packs. It's going down slowly. I do have to go back in two weeks to get it crowned. At least it's not to dig in my tooth again. I can live with that. Dr. Zampetti called me around 7ish to see how things were. Like I was saying before ... not too many dentists do that with their patients. They take the extra step to make everyone feel comfortable. I am sticking with this office. And now, I will fall into a deep sleep coma ... I've had an exhausting day!!! :D

I didn't do it and in 2025 I started feeling sensitivity in one of my fillings I've had for over 20 years. I thought it was coming loose. I went to get it checked out here - they scheduled me same day and he said honestly that it looks good and did not recommend I replace it. Was very kind and reassuring. Does not try to make money off of you. I came in thinking I needed to spend a lot of money because I don't have insurance and left spending a lot less than I thought I would.

Is it better to write a review right after the procedure? In my opinion, not always. As someone who's written countless reviews as a long-time Yelp Elite, I believe it's important to observe the healing process before offering a genuine evaluation--especially for something as delicate as dental implants. Now, my candid impressions. The first thing that struck me was how intimately Dr. Yoo understood the condition of my oral health--perhaps even better than I did. After only a short period, I felt I could truly trust him. My case wasn't a straightforward single implant. It involved a sinus lift and bone grafting, and the entire procedure lasted about 3 hours. There were moments when the sounds of the tools made me tense up, but the anesthesia worked perfectly, and I felt minimal pain throughout. Surprisingly, those three hours didn't feel that long. Either I have a high pain tolerance, or Dr. Yoo's technique is simply that exceptional. In Honolulu, procedures like this usually require separate appointments with various specialists. Under Dr. Yoo's care, everything was streamlined--from extraction to implant placement--all under one roof. Getting the implant placed immediately after extraction? That was a first, even for me, despite already having five or six implants. Post-op recovery felt efficient and smooth. I had three follow-up appointments, and each time I was given a clear assessment of how things were progressing. The healing stitches were visible for a while, but now even my gum line is gradually smoothing out. At the end of October, I'll be getting my final check-up and the much-anticipated crown, custom-designed under Dr. Yoo's supervision. I can already tell it's going to be something special. When Dr. Rachel took over Dr. Wrobel's practice, I wasn't sure what to expect, but she has been every bit as kind and patient--if not more so. She's had to do even more work, yet always takes the time to make my daughter feel safe and heard. At their very first appointment, Dr. Rachel removed her scrubs and mask, sat beside my daughter, and simply talked to her. My daughter was in tears before the cleaning even began, but Dr. Rachel gently walked her through every step, letting her hold "Mr. Thirsty" and explaining how each tool would feel. The entire staff at Platinum Dental is just as wonderful. The hygienists are so gentle and encouraging, and the reception team is always warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful.
