I'd like to start off by saying that I've always despised having to go to the dentist. I absolutely…read morehated the chemical smells and stuffy rooms. So the fact that I'm here to leave a positive review for Waialae Dental Care surprises even me. Prior to an appointment: You'll get a text message or email as a reminder. Honestly, that helps me a bunch because there's been a few times where I would've completely missed an appointment without those reminders. Parking: Although there's limited stalls, even on a busy day, I've never had to circle the block to be able to park for an appointment. That tells me plenty of how efficient the staff are when scheduling clients. Front of the office staff: They're the most welcoming when it comes to customer service. They're also your biggest supporters and advocates for people who take the time to take care of themselves. All of it is done with aloha! If you're in need of a treatment plan, not only do they give you a full breakdown of what's needed along with the estimated cost but they'll also give you finance options to assist should you need it. There's never any pressure. The Dentists and their support staff: All around the staff is just amazing. No one does anything without checking in on you and your concerns. The patient rooms are somewhat small but they've done great with adding TVs and portraits to keep the mind focused on something else. At the end of the appointment: You'll get to sit with the frontline staff and they always check and see how you're feeling and provide you with next steps (as needed) or let you know how far out you should plan for a cleaning. In all, you can't go wrong with choosing Waialae Dental Care. Good parking, staff that feels more like extended family, and care that eases the mind with their attention to not only the details but also to you specifically.

Only in it for the money. They're OK as long as it's just cleaning, cavities and routine stuff. I…read morehad a very serious and scary condition in my jaw that required expertise to even diagnose and plan treatment for. These clowns told me not to contact them if I had any problems with it, but to go to the hospital. This is not an emergent condition, but a chronic one that requires careful management and shrewd decision-making. Avoid this practice.

It had been quite a while since I've had my teeth cleaned by a dental hygienist, so I wanted to…read moreshare how positive my visit was today. The new hygienist, Reana, was excellent. She has the same gentle touch as Dr. Sugiki and I truly hope I'll be able to see her again on my next six month checkup. I also had x-rays done and I noticed the new handheld x-ray technology is much quicker and far less cumbersome than the old machine which I appreciated. The mouthpiece was a bit larger, so it felt slightly awkward for my mouth, but overall the process was easier. It was also lovely to see the familiar front desk staff and be warmly greeted by people I know. The office feels more efficient than ever before, especially after the Covid epidemic. It gave me a comfortable safe feeling. Mahalo for a wonderful experience. See you all in December!

I don't know how he selects his staff but I don't remember a single instance of discomfort or dissatisfaction. It is absolutely amazing how Dr Sugiki is always on our side, he has a rare talent of listening and honesty of sorting necessary things from optional. He never pushes the work that can be done at a better time and, when time comes, I totally trust his professionalism.

Then I was blessed to experience Dr. Ho's special technique, in which he uses a special angle or ideal pressure or magic to deliver the injection so that it almost feels pleasant. That coupled with the time Dr. Ho's Office Manager, Char, pointed out how timing certain dental procedures to coincide with insurance coverage renewal would save me over a thousand dollars, made me feel so lucky to have been accepted as a patient. And when considering the unbelievable courtesy and warm professionalism of the rest of his staff, I'm sorry for being reluctant to write an honest review until now. Just being selfish.

And when I tried to reschedule they did everything to not schedule me in, first they tried pushing me 2 months out hoping I'd just say no, but when I accepted to their surprise, they quickly changed doctors to some other doctor I don't even know, then when I asked for Dr Ho, suddenly he became unavailable... it's just too obvious come on now.. On my first visit Dr Ho didn't even greet me or just say Hi. I was a business owner for 12 years and that's definitely not how I treated my clients. I'm not a number, I'm a human being who is reaching out to get help from a doctor who apparently won't even talk to you if you don't have your X rays done.. what is this a military boot camp come on? Saying hello only takes less than a minute and if it's not in your heart to give another human being just 1 minute of your time then I definitely think you shouldn't be working on my teeth. I feel this office prioritizes money & time over wanting to genuinely help people. So much for this referral, congratulations on you being the best dentist in town I'll look elsewhere.

Routine cleaning gone wrong:…read more 2/5 stars because the dentist did a pretty good job fixing a chipped tooth the first time I went in, but only 2/5 stars because I mostly go there for routine cleanings which kept getting worse and worse until I literally had to walk out half way through during my last cleaning. The hygienest didn't like when I asked her to skip the chit chat as she tends to talk my ear off and her whiplash to my request was very unpleasant. She was going off on a rant for ten minutes about random things before I had to cut her short and asked to just focus on the cleaning. She then became careless, apathetic, and mechanical while rushing to complete the job. Her metal toothpick abruptly punctured a gap between my teeth below the gum line prying them apart and separating the gap between my teeth even more which caused me a lot of pain. I immediately stood up and walked out. I was left with a major tooth ace, gum pain and a severe migraine for the rest of the day. In fact its been 12 hours and half my face is still throbbing in pain. I am left wondering if this what at all intentional?
