Boy do we love coming here for date night every Friday! It's a very casual yet classy vibe that's lovely on a cool summers night. I've never had a bad meal here, so compliments to the chef for the consistency! I was torn between a 3 or a 4 for this review, because we always sit at the bar for dining. As much as we find the male bartender lovely, we are always frustrated by the service. While we usually get a drink fairly quickly, every time we go we usually sit there for 30-40 minutes until we finally decide to waive him down for a food menu or will go ask the hostess for one (which is odd, because we usually arrive around dinner time). We always have to waive him down constantly for a drink refill or bread, or water, so it just gets exhausting by the end of the meal. I'll also add that this is a consistent hurdle with all of their locations. That said, it's an absolutely wonderful restaurant, beautiful ambiance, and definitely has passion cooked into every dish. read more

Always good food and good vibe. I don't have any experience in the business segment but either a restaurant has "it" or doesn't. Armando's has "it" for sure! While we love all of the staff and crowd we often are lucky enough to have Heather take care of us. Her pleasant smile and magnetic personality always make it even more of a memorable visit. I can't leave this review without shouting out also to the chef and kitchen staff who continually put out an amazing product, dish after dish! If you see the filet on the menu, close the menu and order it before they run out. But that said, every single item will impress and satisfy. read more

This was our first time at Armando's in college park and we have been looking forward to trying the food. The food was great but our server Annaleigha (something like that) did not make us feel welcomed at all. We sat outside on the patio because there was a large crowd inside and had to ask for the table to be wiped down. Drinks came out we had to ask multiple times for straws. We ordered an appetizer and not received it or bread before dinner. She never apologized for forgetting either!! We had empty drinks for most of the dinner. When we ask for boxes she never asked if we wanted or needed anything else. My husband finally walked in after waiting 20 more minutes to get the check and she was inside talking to other servers. I am in the business and have always been a very generous tipper until tonight!! I hope if we ever go back, our experience is much better than tonight. read more

Good Italian food. This is my 2nd visit here and didn't disappoint. Started off with a cheese ball wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of arugula and tomatoes, very good. I got the spaghetti carbonara and it was good. The only thing I can say it is a tad salty but good. Sister for the linguine and clam sauce which also was good. We were invited by some friends to this place that we had never heard of and let me just tell u something it really surprised us. First off the drinks from the bar were awesome ( pricy ) but good. For an appetizer we ordered the meatballs and they were AWESOME. My salad $6 was ok but I've had better and it was supposed to have fruit but it didn't have any. My wife ordered the Chicken Marsala & we both agreed that it was one of the best masalas we have ever had no kidding. I ordered the chicken parmesan and it was decent but the chicken had been hammered so flat I could hardly taste the chicken but it was still very good with the marinara and spaghetti. Overall it's a pretty good place for some Italian food. Is it the best in orlando I don't believe so. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there wasn't any bread offered like most Italian places do and the coke products they had was almost straight carbonated water. The wonderful weather contributed to a lovely dining experience. We ate outside. It was Good Friday. Even though we had been to a number of restaurants that were sold out, Armando's was able to accommodate us promptly. Parking was not a problem. I ordered Salmon with capers & artichokes hearts in a white wine sauce. Dreamy. My partner order the special, Pasta Fascicule with loads of seafood. He loved it. Leftovers were taken home. The pasta and pizza sauce is amazing. Cannot gush enough about the bologna sauce. Pasta was eh. It's made in house and I wasn't crazy for the texture. We did not receive any bread with our meal (some reviews say it comes with it). Salad is a good portion and they had some good wine specials going. After we ordered, one of the meals came out wrong so they fixed it pretty quickly. We did wait a while (about 30 minutes) for the meal but we had apps so oh well. This place is LOUD. We could barely hear each other. That took away from the intimacy. The lighting is also a bit too dark inside for my taste. Our waiter was nice, did make a couple personal remarks that made two of our party feel a bit uncomfortable but after that he was attentive all night. I've always liked the one in Winter Park but we've had a few disappointing interactions with the "understaff" at the College Park location near my son's house. For example, six of us and our five year old granddaughter tried to go for dinner a few days before Xmas. When we arrived, there were plenty of tables inside and out. We asked to be seated inside and while waiting, the young man at to desk(who appears to be also waiting tables) said rather curtly "Next time you have seven people, call us for reservations." Our reaction was "if we had come separately as four and three and asked to be seated together, would it matter?" After a long wait to be seated, we all left and went to another (cheaper) Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Hope they lose the attitude and get their act together because we've always liked to food and, usually, the staff and service. read more

Went to Armando's (College Park) last night to have dinner and drinks at the bar. Got a seat but it was 10 minutes before the bar tender asked if I wanted a drink. I ordered a drink and food but it was 5 minutes before I got the drink. The two people behind the bar were scrambling... they were making drinks for the entire restaurant, serving drinks and food to the high tops as well as drinks and food for the people at the bar. It took a good 50 minutes to get my food and my drink had been empty for 20 minutes when my food came out. The poor service wasn't the fault of the wait staff, they were hustling. The issue was clearly management, too few staff for the number of people they had seated. Armando's is a good restaurant, good food and nice people. They need to be careful to not mess-up a good thing by getting greedy read more

Used to be our go to for a nice Italian date night/lunch but I don't know what's happened of late. To start we arrived and despite the abundant tables available my husband and I were directed to literally the worst possible table there was on the front patio. "What makes it so bad? What makes it THE WORST?" You might ask, well simply put it shouldn't exist. It was literally slanted at a 45° angle. Cannot make this up. For 1) like why? Why does this seating option even exist? You wouldn't even be able to put a cup down let alone dine. 2) you can't be serious. I literally couldn't contain myself, I laughed out loud and said something to the tune of "we're here to have dinner, not slip and slide into the street" (it was raining heavily). With absolutely no expression or acknowledgement by the seating staff lady we're guided to the back of the opposite side (totally fine with this) and told "the only other place I've got is alll the way in the back" (like that's somehow worse than sitting on a slanted table?! And like we're blind and can't see ALLL the other tables open?) We head over, and proceed to wait for almost 20 min, for no one to serve us, despite the few occupied tables around us receiving service from another waitress. Finally we alert the lady who seated us (who, once again, zero response, totally unfazed, just turns around to someone inside, and I'm assuming asks a waiter to come over). Two minutes later, a gentlemen approaches, wants to take our drink order but we're ready to eat. We order. And it's at this point we realize everyone has received water and a bread basket, except us. That's 3 strikes for service at this point but I'm trying to stay positive because 1) it's my birthday, and 2) mom of 2 who rarely gets to go out one on one with the hubs and desperately wanted to enjoy the night before another hectic work week. Appetizers arrive and it's ... disappointing. Sauces were too salty, but this wasn't my main issue: our risotto balls were literally still cold on the inside like cold cold. Not room temp. Not warm. Straight up cold and crunchy. we let the server know (I'm deeply uncomfortable at this point because 1) I hate speaking up and that already happened at the start of the night, and 2) I was now being *that* customer 3) I was maxed out of speaking up and this is important for later) to his credit he comps the dish and takes it back. Mains arrive. Way too salty, again. My husband's pasta is doughy (not al denté, but like you know when pasta clumps together to form one larger piece and it's like doughy, yeah that. This is an Italian restaurant. like come on.) my seafood ravioli is equally salty, but I thought it must be the seafood, but honestly it was the sauce but this wasn't the issue. It was just straight up bad, and once again, the outside is warm and the inside was cold. I couldn't even tolerate a second ravioli so I just ate all the seafood around it and kept my mouth shut (the calamari was chewy and over cooked, but the muscles were okay. The ravioli was atrocious and I'm almost certain it had dill in it which wasn't on the menu and I have an intolerance ) Same with my husband's dish (side note, the scallops were for sure undercooked - note that my husband and I work with seafood quite a bit and know our stuff). I give up on the night at this point, but the waiter brings us a tiramisu on the house which was incredibly kind but I almost wish he hadn't because I just wanted to leave at this point and make the most of what little time we had left with our kids taken care of. We're now home with food poisoning. So icing on the birthday cake I guess . Gosh how I wish we went to Pepe's next door instead 2 stars for the ambience and the fairly nice waiter, but that's about it. Wouldn't recommend to anyone anymore. read more

I went for brunch with a group of friends on Sunday. This is the same owner as the one in Winter Park but the parking is so much easier and the food and service is wonderful. I had the salmon carpaccio which I highly recommend. This was a generous serving and very high quality. This comes out quickly so if you are pressed for time, this is your dish. My tablemates ordered the salmon pizza. WAH? It was great. Almost like the salmon carpaccio on a crust with arugula. Yum. The pasta dishes at the table also looked good. We had some peach bellinis and these were generous pours and our waiter even indulged my friends when they wanted to split a second one, It was my friend's birthday and she got a complimentary tiramisu. I like this dessert but it is not my favorite. I do however know a really good one and this did not hit the mark. I got a few tastes and she offered more. It was a decent size piece it just seemed kinda watery to me if that makes sense. They have a large dining room and they offer several tables by the windows.and I noticed a small bar area. New Moon juice is across the street (love them) but they are closed on Sunday. I will definitely be back to Armandos. They have a menu heavy on pasta, chicken and pizza and a very relaxing brunch. read more

The venue is so special and great for those bigger crowds for occasions like bachelorettes or birthday celebrations. We came with a group of 12 and they easily accommodated us (with reservations ahead of time) First off, the bread they give you is pillowy soft and you'll have to hold yourself back from eating multiple. The menu is expansive and hard to narrow down. The portions are large and could easily be split if you also got an appetizer. I will say that I found that not all things were created equal when it came to the menu. The gnocchi in plum sauce was nice, but I've had much better. I loved the spaghetti Tatiana in vodka sauce. The sauce wasn't overly heavy, flavorful, and the dish came with both shrimp and chicken. Unfortunately the chicken was overcooked and tough, but the shrimp was cooked well and worked so well in the sauce. The carbonara was good as well. Armando's packs a solid punch on the local Italian food scene, offering a wide selection of dishes fit for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The wide open interior still feels cozy and welcoming, with a friendly and attentive staff to match. While the beer selection is lacking, the wine list has an ample selection. The meal started off on a 3-star note with the insalata della casa, which promised sliced pears, but delivered 1-2 of the smallest shavings. The bread also did not stand up to the rest of the meal, lacking real flavor or sense of freshness. The pasta swooped in to elevate the meal though, leaving the visit on a high note! The gnocchi alla sorrentina was cooked to perfection--doughy melt in your mouth pasta smothered in a bold and flavorful tomato sauce, sprinkled with fresh parsley and layered with creamy, chewy baked mozzarella. fantastic little italian bistro. the atmosphere is great with nice indoor/outdoor seating. open kitchen with pizza oven the whole 9 yards. our waiter was Mike and he was great. he made fantastic recommendations and did a great job of taking care of us. the price point is not overly expensive and you get good portions for the price. i got the italian mac and cheese for an entree and it was fantastic. rich and creamy with great noodles. the caprese was a fantastic appetizer, fresh tomatoes, great mozzarella and a nice coating of pesto. 10/10 on both plates and i will be going back for both again for dessert we got a cannoli and it was one of the best i've had outside of Boston. the filling was creamy and thick as it should be and was all around delicious. read more

Just had the worst experience here. Walked in at 9pm on a Thursday and asked what time they closed to be sure. An older, balding gentleman with glasses abruptly said "less than an hour". They close at 10pm, which I didn't think was too close to closing to dine in - wouldn't want to be 'that guy'. We proceeded to walk in and we're seated by the same older gentleman. He was mumbling something as he threw our menus down and my wife asked him, excuse me to see if was asking us something. The man said "oh nothing" and walked away. He returned around 5 minutes later to fill the water glasses on the table, no eye contact, not smiling. He made our entire table feel uncomfortable with his cold demeanor. It makes me feel bad to leave such a bad review when the food is good - but the experience was terrible. Even worse, I was bringing my parents who are in town for a few days since we were raving about how good the food was. We wound up walking out, and they lost $100 plus dinner tab. There are plenty of choices for Italian - if I'm writing the review for the service alone, 0 stars. If you're able to get a good host, and/or server it'll make your entire dining experience 100000x better. Shame on you. read more
