Upon friends' suggestion, my group walked over for some pizza after Spring Fiesta in the Park. Our party of 5 arrived around 2 PM and basically had the place to ourselves. It's bright, modern and clean inside. Our server did a good job and made us feel at ease. I attempted to order the Disney cocktail but they were out of one of the ingredients so I pivoted to the Hugo Spritz, which was refreshing. My friends really enjoyed their white sangria, leaving them a bit giddy. Apparently not skimping on the alcohol with those. As for our pizza, it was satisfactory yet not very memorable for me. Certainly not bad, but I know there's better pizza out there in Orlando. I'd love to come back to try one of their entrées. Some of those look delicious. The owner is also incredibly friendly and kind, and truly wants to go out of his way to make sure you have a good experience and an enjoyable meal. The restaurant is lively and clean, with a great atmosphere. There are menu options for everyone, even for someone vegan like myself. The vegan pizza is so good. It really hits the spot especially if you haven't had pizza in a long time as a vegan. I also really appreciate the tofu options, which are hard to come by in Orlando. The salads are always fresh with crisp greens and a nice balance of other fresh veggies. The location is great, close to the Kia Center and the Dr. Phillips Center, and it's also an easy walk from Lake Eola if you're downtown working or just around grabbing lunch or dinner. Stopped in before an Orlando Magic game and it was pretty empty and quiet so we sat at the bar area in hopes it would be quicker. We ordered a pizza which showed 2 sizes the small and large but when we ordered the large the said they only had small. The toppings are all extra so the small pizza ended up being $22 and it was basically a personal size so a little over priced but the pizza was good. A group of friends was going to the theater at Dr. Phillips center. I decided to call to make a reservation because I didn't want to be stuck being late.The place was almost empty when we got there. It was only 5:30 on a Friday night. So no reservations needed. They had us at a table right in front of the bathrooms. But no one really used the bathroom so that wasn't a problem. I just had that as my view. With making the reservation and it being empty I would think we would have been given a better table. We all enjoyed the food. However, the waiter never came back and checked on us. In fact, when they dropped off the food, I asked for some more water and never got it. One of my friends had to go to the bar to get a refill on her soda. We had told them when we sat down that we each wanted separate checks just to make it easier. There were only five of us. THE SERVICE: ROBOTIC & UNHELPFUL The experience began with a server who had a completely deadpan, monotone vibe. After we told him it was our first time, he skipped any greeting or recommendations and went straight to: "Okay, what do you want to drink?" Immediately he pressured us: "Okay, what do you want to order?" We had to ask for a few minutes just to look at the menu. When he finally returned, we tried to order the Philly cheesesteak, only for him to flatly tell us they were out of bread. It's frustrating to spend time "locking in" a choice only to find out a core ingredient is missing--information that should have been shared upfront. THE FOOD: COLD CENTERS & DRY Because of the bread shortage, we pivoted to a Philly Stromboli and a cheese pizza. The results were a major letdown here as follows. THE STROMBOLI: It arrived uneditably cold in the middle. When we flagged the server, he offered a lifeless "I'm sorry." At that point, we cut our losses and asked him to just take it back. THE MEATBALLS: To his credit, he graciously offered a side of meatballs on the house. Unfortunately, they were incredibly dry and lacked any moisture. THE PIZZA: While the cheese and sauce were decent, the dough was far too firm and chewy to be called authentic. THE SILVER LINING: The only highlights were the ranch and marinara sauces, which we suspect were store-bought. FINAL THOUGHTS It is rare to see such a complete lack of care in both management training and kitchen execution. The pizza came out in a very reasonable time and was hot and fresh. There was a great balance of ricotta and mozzarella cheese. There was spinach on the pizza, but I could have used a little more (but that is my preference). It had good flavor as well with a balanced amount of garlic. The have a basic/good beer and wine selection. One of us had a beer and one had a wine. The server was attentive and checked on us to see if we needed anything else.
