The installer back then connected the fireplace to the hard steel gas pipe using copper tubing instead of flexible steel tubing. The original fireplace wore out, and I had Southern Sweeps install a new one. Their technician connected the fireplace to the gas supply using the existing out-of-code copper tubing, which, incidentally, had a kink in it. The technician tested the fireplace, told me everything was fine, and left. After he left, we smelled gas and called the gas company. The gas company detected gas coming from the kinked copper tubing. That was the first I knew anything was wrong with the connection. The Southern Sweeps installer should have refused to connect the fireplace until a licensed plumber connected it to the gas supply using flexible steel piping. Instead, he left us in a dangerous situation with a gas leak.

I have had trouble with my door since day one. Now 2.5 years in my my house and the garage door is extremely loud. I've had garage doors my entire life with no trouble before. Also second rate garage door opener. Stick with Liftmaster. They have perfected the opener. I would give Southern Sweeps less stars if that were possible.

The difference in the attic is completely unreal, it went from unbearable in the Summer to basically the same temperature as my living room, etc. As a rough estimate, I would say that it takes around 3 years to pay for itself, but I'll never have a house without it again. I'm not going to lie: getting this system installed in a home we were living in at the time was not a pleasure and I won't ever go through it again. We had to get the duct work done which is a horrifying mess (there's no way around it) and to Calloway & Son's credit, they did suggest we go with a split system. Live and learn. We also thought we were getting a system with zones which didn't happen and it was never fully explained why, but in these old homes with impossibly high ceilings and two levels, your bills are going to be extremely high if you have one single unit. It is what it is. I certainly don't blame them for that! But on to the most important stuff: the system is pretty good. Again, old house, not the greatest insulation and taking all that into consideration we are comfortable 80% of the year. The other 20% of times are where things are a less than awesome: this year's blizzard and any extremely cold days mean for a very hot upstairs, requiring us to run the window AC unit. And on those blistering hot summer days, there's no way we're comfortable upstairs without the window unit. Again, my house... it's ancient. It wasn't made for these types of systems. Last summer, there was a day in August when the system stopped working on a Friday. I was more than a little disappointed when I was told they couldn't give us a service visit unit until Monday. If you live here, you know it is literally unbearable to not have AC on a summer day. Luckily the very kind lady on the phone worked with us and fit us in. I also now pay for insurance that ensures priority service. I was only able to afford to get the HVAC on the owner's side of my two family house done and that was about 25K. The financing was not great... if I hadn't paid it off ASAP, it would have been almost double that. So try to pay it all upfront if possible. At least the option is there if you need it.

Green Apple Insulators put the screws to me on my upstairs attic. They were supposed to remove the…read moreold insulation & replace with spray foam. Instead they forced the old paper insulation down in the attic & sprayed about 12 inches of foam behind it. Over time the pressure from the old insulation bowed my sheetrock causing a bulge. I had to hire a sheetrock contractor to come in cut out the damaged sheetrock. I replaced the insulation myself & the contractor replaced the sheetrock. When i called Lorenzo (Owner) & ask him to come & look and access the damage he never showed up or would take my phone call. Look else where if you want spray foam!!!!

Fast forward to 2023, we experienced one of the hottest summers ever in south Louisiana. My two brand new AC units simply couldn't compete with the heat and lack of airflow in my attic. I decided to have our attic spray foamed but, with the industry being unlicensed in the state of Louisiana, I came across countless companies that simply didn't have the credentials to back them up. Until a friend suggested a larger company, Sunlight Contractors. Well, they may be a big company but they sure don't make you feel like it. The owner, Mr. Ira, called me back personally and gave me a very detailed run-down of the process and how it would all work. His communication was thorough, clear, and accurate. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and did so exactly when they said they were going to do it. Even in 100+ degree heat, they came in and removed all of my old insulation, bagged it up and hauled it away, sprayed my attic and added a level of comfort for my family that we had yet to experience since living in our home for the last 9 years. His crews were professional, clean, and I barely knew they were even there. My electric bill, previously $600 a month, was cut in half and I'll pay for my foam investment in a couple of years.
