This company is wonderful and it's great that they are just down the street from us! Very caring, thorough, and communication and follow through is wonderful. Not to mention that they are not in your pocketbook and really try to save you money! Our dog Bentley is a French Bulldog and lost his eye which got infected. Another place wanted to do over $1,000 due of preliminary work and Armstrong was approximately $60! Besides that, we got an update phone call at 7pm to bring us up to date and another today which was way beyond the call of duty. They are knowledgeable, caring and wonderful. I found Armstrong Pet Hospital over a year ago and we LOVE coming here. The commute from downtown is worth it. My kitty has feline asthma and I'm sorry to say that her previous vet took advantage of us by padding the bill with things like unnecessary expensive medications and an "ear cleaning" that we didn't ask for (and they weren't even able to clean them right). I had just lost my job and we spent everything we had on her at that place. Every visit to Armstrong Pet Hospital has been pleasant and they have been fantastic about making sure she has what she needs and not pressuring us to do more things that aren't necessary. "Necessary treatment" and "suggested treatment" are always made very clear. I was able to openly discuss unconventional ideas for feline asthma management with Dr. Gill without being dismissed. I trust his judgement and while he felt it best to manage her asthma with low dose steroids for now, the idea we discussed was "filed away" for the future if we ever needed to revisit it. This speaks volumes that they really care about your pet's well-being and they are sincerely listening to the person who knows their pet the best - you! I've always had a great experience here and at their other location Kingsburg Vet . Dr Gaheer is wonderful as well as the other Drs and staff. From the front check in to the vet techs, nothing but professional and caring. We have had our Bubba suffer 2 TPLO injuries and Dr. Gaheer is the orthopedic surgeon. He healed very well from the first one and expect the same outcome this time. Their prices for exams , X-rays and meds are very reasonable! Thee most insensitive veterinarian clinic I've ever been to. I came here to have my cat, Billy, euthanized. I had found him as a stray in East Hollywood while living in Los Angeles. After one year and returning to Fresno my vet, Dr. Gray at Palm Bluff, told me my cat was dying of cancer. I had hoped to hold on to Billy until Monday but I could tell that his pain was too intense. So I looked for a vet that was open on Saturday and Armstrong was all I found. I now regret waiting and wish I had euthanized Billy with Dr. Gray. I was appalled to find that the Vet at Armstrong doesn't perform the euthanizing--the vet techs do it. When I walked in I had to stand in line while holding my dying cat wrapped in my arms. When I finally got to the desk the receptionist asked, "Are you here for vaccinations?" Holding back my tears I said, "No. I'm here to have my cat euthanized". The receptionist look startled and then asked the girl next to her, "Do we have a euthanize scheduled?" Omg, I wanted to scream. The second girl had to check with someone in the back and then they told me they could see my cat. They then hesitantly asked if I wanted to be back there when the euthanizing was done. "Yes," I said emphatically. They seemed taken aback and soon became nervous. They gave me a look like as if to say, "well, alright then....umm....uhh..." The fact that they were uncomfortable in having the pet's guardian present at the euthanizing made me very uneasy. I was then directed to the clinic room. Two vet assistants came in and starting setting up. I was shocked that they hadn't set up before and were doing this in front of me. So there I was standing with my cat wrapped in a large towel holding him to me like a baby while I had to watch them place the metal and tubes around. I almost lost it but I had to stay strong. The vet assistants seemed oblivious to my expression. Then once I laid my cat on the table they had to leave and make the euthanizing cocktail for the injection. So there I stood over my dying cat calming him while I waited as they mixed the serum that would take his life. The wait was excruciating and I felt my knees get weak. Then the two vet assistants walked in followed by one of the receptionists. Now there were 3 people in the room. I got upset and told the 3rd to leave. My cat's final minutes shouldn't be stressed by being surrounded by people he didn't know and I told her this. Then they placed this plastic device on my cat's paw. It looked very painful. I was told it was needed but the vet assistant told me with attitude. "We wouldn't need it if you didn't come in the room during but you wanted to." And she said so coldly and with such a scolding tone that I couldn't believe it. And if that wasn't bad enough, just seconds before the needle was about to go in a receptionist walked in and said, "Would like to pay now?" I said, "WHAT? YOU'RE ASKING NOW? HE (Billy my cat) IS ON THE TABLE?" The receptionist left shocked as if not understanding why asking about money seconds before you kill someone's pet is wrong. And of all things the other two vet techs attempted to say "she was just doing her job". Then soon it was done. I walked out clutching the lifeless body of Billy while my face was drenched in tears and I only stopping to pay. As I walked out I saw the doctor, or my like he saw me. He stood there stunned as if he could not understand why a woman holding a lifeless wrapped cat close to her body was weeping. None of these people should be in the veterinarian field. They are harsh, ill mannered, and insensitive. I had a cat euthanized in Los Angeles years ago and it was done with respect, sympathy, and dignity to the animal. Armstrong just treated my cat like an object and I will never forget this awful experience for as long as I live. I will say one thing, this horrible experience helped propel me into becoming an activist for cats and shelter animals. Because if a veterinarian's office in the Central Valley can get away with this type of behavior and still remain in business than something is very wrong in this part of California and I will not live silently under such revolting treatment of animals. read more

My sister has been a vet tech for 10+ years and when I purchased the kitten package for our new kitten she had what we confirmed with the vet at Armstrong was Tapeworm they worked her with a broad spectrum wormer and we brought in a stool sample knowing they would want one the 1st visit (thanks to my sister telling us who lives in Florida) so on the second visit we were told the fecal sample was negative for wains however she still had worms in her stool so they wormed her again.. while waiting for the third and final kitten package visit our poor kitten was still suffering will worms bad I called my sis and she said what wormer are they giving her and when I told her she said that isn't the right wormer she needs a tape worm wormer and sure enough my sister was correct and the wormer they were giving her could have actually been more harmful to her! I have these people a second chance after the 1st time they made a mistake on our dog and pulled 4 front teeth before calling and asking our permission! Never again will we use them! read more

I took my Madeline in to have her teeth cleaned after having my usual vet cancel. They did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. They were prompt and caring. They instantly put me at ease about taking my angel to a new doctor. They gave me an estimate and allowed me to decide what services I would be able to afford. They not only came in within my predetermined budget, but came in way below their estimate. The doctor was friendly and seemed very competent. I have been taking all our babies 7 total plus all my kids pets not to mention all the referrals that I sent for all these years to the Gills since they started in kings burg way before there was Armstrong Pet Hospital. I know for a fact that I can show the front office that at least 15 of their regular clients are in my contacts from my phone, that I have sent them. See I would have been one of those 4 an 5 star reviews. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Not because of one incident but because of several lately. First a little over a year ago now. We took our Walker Hound in for a miner bite wound to his left ear requiring four stitches 2 + 2 is no big deal. Right? Well the wrap came off when he started shaking his head causing his wound to bleed. So we go back. They have started that take your babies in the back without you BS. so I went along because of the trust that they had earn right? WRONG let me tell you why.... they brought him back out to me saying this won't come off now his head was wrapped up across his ears. They stated bring him back an Doc will take it off an removed stitches in 14days. Well he kept acting strange and wanting to stay very close. I called they said he was fine it was just because his ears were wrapped. Well about half way through the 2nd week I called again stating he was acting really strange. Leaning an holding his head crocked they said it was OK to take wrapping off. When we did we not only found that they had folded his injured EAR IN HALF it was swollen one half inch and purple. If that wasn't enough they used some kind of adhesive to hold down the wrap it took all the hair off the top of his head and it was swollen, purple an ow sing. Of course we took him to where Doctor Gill was in kings-burg. Got there ask to see Dr. Mr. Gill. they took our Walker Back and we we're waiting 20 30minutes an they would not let us go back to see what was going on. by 45minutes went by my wife an I demanded to see our walker they let us back after waiting some more in the room one of the hateful kings burg girls brought our walker to us then in walks Mr, d Gill upset he had the gall to be upset with us. saying "why are we giving the staff a bad time don't you trust me"??? I said I may trust you but what happened to our Walker here? He said he was trying to find out From Armstrong! in other words he was having us wait while he covers their behinds. Go for a simple stitches and your pedigree walker is bald with bad sores that have to be treated with meds an antibiotics an at that time it looked like he might loose part of his ear to us. You can still see where his ear was folded. also when we asked if his hair would grow back Mr dr gill said "I hope so" We let that one go after nearly eight months his hair grew back in but not as full according to my wife an daughters.... We let that one go. Then about 6 months later our 7pd Multi Poo required anesthesia got my price quote an the CHARGE was as high as my large dogs so I ask WHY he said and I quote from one of the other Vet partners "WE CHARGE THE SAME PRICE FOR EVERYONE TO BE FAIR" I'm sorry but that don't seem fair at all to me for the obvious. Let that one go.... Here it come our cat had kidney failure in one or both kidneys. who knows we left him there for 2 days. IVs fluids. at the time we could not afford any more vet bills our Multi poo was badly injured by a larger dog costing us nearly 2k some in emergency care an some at Armstrong. Later we came back an paid for their in house lab work that cost $140+ it confirmed kidney failure. the vet stated the the ONLY thing to do is leave him there with IV for 3 days got quoted it was another just under $600 I said we just could not afford it. I ask IS THERE ANY OUT PATIENT CARE WE CAN DO AT HOME. the vet said we can not send IVs home. I knew there was a way to give fluids with a needle and bag see that was 7weeks ago. They sent home with nothing. 2weeks ago I took him back in an the same vet said that I ask for IVs. NO I ASK IF THERE WAS ANYTHING WE COULD DO FOR HIM AT HOME AN THE VET SAID. like if you cant leave him then nothing. well 2 weeks ago we got the fluids to put with a needle under the skin. My wife was keeping him alive with goat milk an high calorie cat paste. he WAS walking around. with no help from the fluids we should have gotten nearly 2 months ago. Well he died a week after we got what he needed. Because the Vet said I ASKED FOR THE WRONG THING. I am not a Vet. I called to tell them that a loved part of our family died and how I felt about all of the for mentioned above here. Enough! Don't get me wrong most their staff are great. My problem is with the owners AKA vet owning up their mess ups. Instead of pushing it off on you. And that to be fare BS charge the same for a 7pd dogs as a up 100pd dog to be fair. Got him in, located and remedied the problem, and got him out. I agree with the other poor reviews of Armstrong Pet Hospital. They simply do not care for your animals instead they just care about making a profit. Their COVID risk prevention practices are questionable. I did not see any of the techs or the vet that we saw wash/sanitize their hands. The table of which the animal is suppose to be examined on was visibly dirty with treat crumbs from previous visits. The tech who vaccinated my dog had bejeweled, 2" long acrylic nails. That is a huge infection risk and just downright disgusting!!!! I asked the vet for a vaccine that is to protect dogs while hiking. My friend had mentioned it to me but I could not remember the exact name. The vet proceeds to tell me that the vaccine is the heart worm prevention medication.... I looked it up later and actually it is the leptospirosis vaccine. I'll take my dog to Waterhouse/Saddleback vet hospital (same owners). This place can be described in one word, appalling. We are very lucky to have such a caring veterinarian and staff here at our neighborhood pet hospital. I have been taking my dogs for their preventative care as well as for illnesses and injuries for the past 5 years. Last month I had to make the difficult decision to euthanize my senior foster dog. The entire staff made the entire process loving and peaceful. They even sent a card signed by the entire staff with Lulu's footprints on it. He had diabetes and his condition had become much worse over Christmas weekend. We took Bear to Armstrong Pet Hospital and after examining Bear we were given a couple of choices regarding his care but ultimately decided the humane thing to do was to say goodbye. Three days later we received a condolence card with Bear's paw prints on it as a keepsake. We have a golden retriever, who has had hot spots every summer, since about 3 years old. We tried different medications, some of which worked temporarily, and none were healthy for him to stay on permanently. Dr. Gill suggested eliminating chicken, beef, and turkey from his diet, giving fish oil supplements, baths with oatmeal dog shampoo bi-monthly, and a flea prevention chew. The only thing we didn't actually do was put a t-shirt on him while he's on the lawn. For the first time in years, he looks magnificent, has his feathers back, and we get compliments on a beautiful dog. Best of all, he is comfortable. If only his other 2 vets in Modesto had figured it out, he wouldn't have suffered for so long. read more

Would not recommend whatsoever. Took my 2 yr old chocolate lab who had a bloated stomach and a lot of bloody vaginal discharge that morning I had to carry her in. Staff was nice one of the techs had asked if she was spayed which she was not cuz they wanted to check if she had pyometra looked up the symptoms and sure enough my lab was exhibiting those same symptoms. Dr Gill finally called me into the room to tell me that my dog bailey was a lot worse than I believed that she had pfluid in her abdomen and it was prolly caused due to some kind of organ failure, blood disease, or cancer. I was devastated mind you he had not run any tests to even know what was the cause. He immediately suggested putting my dog down and hinted I could get lab tests done for closure so I can find out what was wrong but the prognosis was not looking good. I contacted my family over the phone to tell them the horrible news I asked dr Gill if it could be pyometra which he told me he examined her and it was not pyometra. It was Friday and I told him I would bring her back the following Monday to get lab work done. That whole weekend I could not sleep having to think about putting my 2 yr old dog down because of organ failure. So I decided on Monday to take her to Abby's pet hospital dr skeen was so compassionate they did the exams that same day worked with me price wise and come to find out it was pyometra!!! They did surgery that day and my bailey is back to her own self. I'm sick to my stomach knowing that I was about to put my dog down that same day because dr Gill kept suggesting it without any type of tests done and assured me it was not pyometra. I will make sure that everyone I know won't be taking their pets their. They are not compassionate at all read more

This clinic had the best reviews of all of the places I had looked up in the Clovis/Fresno area. So I called to schedule a check up and vaccinations for my cat. We live an hour and a half's drive away from there, so it's quite a journey to get her to the vet. When we got there, the clinic looked very clean and nice. Immediately, the lady helping me at the front desk was rude. She handed me a form to fill out about my cat and she was snotty when I asked her for help on how to answer one of the questions. She also was not helpful when I asked if my cat needed the leukemia shot, because she asked whether or not I wanted her to get it and I wasn't sure if she needed it. I'm not a vet, after all. She didn't seem to know, so she said she'd ask the people in the back and she never got back to me on that. She then told me to go sit down and they would get my cat back in a few minutes. The rude lady at the desk then came over and took the cat carrier, saying she was going to bring my cat back and she would be back in a few minutes. I assumed they were going to weigh her or something, and then I'd be invited back for the checkup. That never happened. She brought the cat back out and set her on the counter and told me she did great and it was over. What sort of checkup is that?! They just take your animal back for a few minutes and you aren't invited, so you have no idea what's going on back there. First of all, I'd really prefer to be present when they are giving my cat shots. Secondly, I wanted her to have an actual checkup, which involves the vet asking you questions about how your pet is doing and answering your questions as the exam moves along, not to mention informing you about how your pet's health seems to be. I was really disappointed, it was like the McDonald's version of a veterinarian's office. I never saw a vet, just the desk lady. She gave me the vaccination papers, so I saw later that the leukemia shot wasn't given and I have no idea why they decided not to since they didn't tell me. She then demanded $45, which I gave to her, and then I asked to use the bathroom. She seemed really put out that I asked to use their public bathroom and was snotty about that too. We took our neighborhood stray cat in to get their Rabies shots up to date since its an outdoor cat. We ourselves were not able to successfully determine on our own the sex of our baby kitty. So when the nurse took our precious feline, we simply asked to see if she could determine the gender. She took my precious sweetie back to administer the shot and not even a full minute went by before she was back with the gender reveal and the administered shot (So we think). She confidently informed us that our baby was most definitely a precious sweetie baby girl. Three weeks went by when my husband and I were both thrown for a loop when we discovered this stray cutie, had a teeny tiny lil wee wee. The nurse in fact got the gender completely wrong, and there are only two birth given sexes. For being a medical professional that nurse should have been able to tell what sex my cat was, but she clearly did NOT take the time to even examine my precious fur ball. I will not be returning to this establishment in the future, if they can't even get the sex of my baby BOY correct then who is to say they can perform any type of surgery correctly. read more

Took my little dog in there this afternoon because she was having some ear problems. I was a walk in and I only had to wait for about 15 to 20 min. before she was seen. Very clean and professional facility. The doctor was very patient and caring with my dog, I could tell that he likes animals. They had to clean my dogs ears out and they gave her some medicine, the entire visit was around 45 min. to an hour. Extremely fair prices and they don't try to add any extras on that you don't really need or want. Great office, great staff, great doctor. We saw Dr. Arti Nayyar-Gill, she and her staff were very friendly, listened to my concerns and did a through exam on my dog. The facility was nice and clean. The fees were very reasonable. I took my dog in Saturday Dec 27, 2014 for follow up on thyroid and he had developed a bad limp the day before. He was seen immediately by Dr Arti Gill and she was great with getting whatever the issue was with his leg worked out. He walked out without a limp after she worked on his leg...fantastic. On the bright side, the Vet seems to have some idea of what he is doing...on the not so bright side, it cost me a literal fortune and my dog died. This is THE MOST EXPENSIVE office I have ever been to. They are more expensive than the Pet emergency I had gone to before. The service is not very good, the office is not busy, and the prices are outrageous. I would have given a one star, but after going to Family Veterinary Hospital, I decided to give this a two star since Family Veterinary Hospital was the ABSOLUTE WORST hospital I have ever gone to. The doctor was clueless, didn't know anything, and didn't even treat my pet. I would rather go to Armstrong than Family Veterinary Hospital. DO NOT GO TO FAMILY VETERINARY HOSPITAL....Armstrong is better (if you can afford it), but I would really recommend Abby Pet because they are slightly cheaper. read more
