I absolutely despise everything about Armstrong Zoom Internet. I wish I could warn you to steer clear and avoid this company at all costs, but sadly, they hold a monopoly on Northern Harford County, Maryland. If you want fiber-connected internet, you have no choice but to go through Armstrong--and they know it. They treat their customers like they don't matter, completely indifferent to the frustration they cause. I was a customer for over ten years, mostly because I have no alternative, and honestly, it's been a nightmare. After countless service calls over the past two years--each time they "fix" something only for the problems to persist--I've had enough. I demanded they come and fix it for real, but the chief service representative called to blame me, insisting it's all my equipment's fault, even when I told them the network had been disconnected from those devices for days with the same poor results, and he called me a liar! I have absolutely no reason to do so; I just want my network to stay online for more than 24 hours consistently. I am utterly drained from exhaustion and furious beyond words with Armstrong. At this point, I'll have to switch to some cell company's home Wi-Fi setup--anything but this nightmare anymore, and this company couldn't care less that I will no longer be a customer and that is the part that is bothering me the most, none of these "local" companies give a rats ass about us (the customer) anymore. read more

Every negative review you are reading regarding Armstrong Cable is 100% accurate. If you are one of the lucky ones that are reading this and have an option to use another provider, take this as a sign to do so. To save you the frustration I have, PICK THE OTHER COMPANY! Armstrong cable is the only internet provider in my area and charge an exorbitant amount for a slow internet service. 100% a monopoly and not sure how they aren't violating some antitrust laws with the way they conduct business. Not only are they the only provider in the area and you are forced to use them, but their service is slow, tons of outages and terrible customer service. Most companies ask you to commit to one year, after the one year is up if you decide to cancel then they have no problem with it. Armstrong cable on the other hand will automatically renew your contract and force you to stay the remainder of the contract duration or if you decide to cancel then you will owe them whatever is left on your contract. They wont let you leave, they charge you an arm and a leg for spotty internet. Finally found a service representative that was able to tweak my router/modem to get my speed up to what I have been paying for! Shout out to Tim for sticking with it to remedy my issue. Was really disgusted with run a round by previous people that I talked to but all's well that ends well!!! This was after five calls, an upgrade to my plan and a technician that came to my house and replaced my router (only to still have the problem). Unreliable expensive internet and terrible customer service. My internet cuts out multiple times a day for anywhere from 5 to 30 min. When I call I rarely get through because they do not accept phone calls when they are experiencing a service outage (which apparently is more often than not). Even if the outage is 500 mile away. When I do get a representative they say they can only help if my internet is out. If it is working they cannot do anything and since it always comes back in under an hour there is nothing they can do and sending someone out to look at it won't help. This has been going on for over a year. I have called at least 10 times and gotten no where. If there was any other provider available I would switch. On top of this they keep increasing the cost. If you want unreliable expensive internet with terrible customer service than armstrong is for you other wise choose anyone else. read more

Armstrong cable are straight up jackers!!! $190 a month...really!!?? So I call to cancel service and the FOUR unknowledgeable customer service reps I was passed off to got me to a rep saying someone would call me within 48 hours. Well That never happened!! So after a week goes by I call to cancel my service AGAIN and was told by some smug rep that I'd have to disconnect all of their equipment and drive it to their local office! I said "I'm absolutely NOT doing that!! Your guys installed it they can come out and disconnect it!! I'm sure the $190 a month I've been throwing out the window has been supplementing their pay!!" Bad internet speed. Between 1% and 0.01% of advertised speed. I called and had my hardware serviced. The employee replaced some small piece of hardware and had me do a speed test, the speed was still slow. He basically said oh well and left. Do not recommend if you want what you pay for. read more

Data caps. Need I say more? Welcome back to 2003. In Rising Sun you are stuck with this company because our little town won't allow anyone else to come in because they know Armstrong would immediately be out of business. We use more data over a weekend, as a family of 4 who games, than we are allowed for the entire month. You get charged $10 for every 50GB you use over their incredibly low threshold of 200GB per month. Plus, as you approach your limit, they start hijacking your browser, rerouting you to a notification page forcing you to click to acknowledge your usage before you can return to what you were trying to do. My download speed in the evening was 17 and the Netflix wouldn't work. Every time I would call and complain they would tell me it's because everyone was home using the internet. Basically saying "deal with it" told me I could upgrade, I was told I would need to upgrade to get a faster speed in the evenings. I was already paying $79. Went with Verizon it was less than $79 and the speed is over 400 and it doesn't drop! read more

I find it extremely frustrating to pay for a service only to find that what I pay for is unavailable. The "On Demand" service is frequently unavailable. We mainly have cable for that service so we can watch shows that we aren't home for. The cable goes out often, even when the weather is beautiful. This is a monopoly that provides poor and outdated service at high prices. It would be crushed by the competition. The internet service is expensive with extremely low data caps which they don't clearly indicate on the website. Their equipment is old and outdated. These days people use the internet to download and stream movies and shows...but forget that with this company unless you want to pay big bucks. I have internet only and the wi-fi is awful, their excuse is that "there are a lot of people using it at the same time. " That is lame, what happens in a city? I find it to be a lame excuse, at best. No matter what time of day or night, my wi-fi is awful, I live in a 1900 sq ft home, not a huge 5000 sq foot one. If I had another choice, I would take it. Different levels of pricing for different data usages, all low in this age of video streaming. 250GB a month boils down to 2 or 3 streamed HD shows a day when you include other internet usage like using a cloud service. No cutting the cord with these guys....they are already hanging you with it over their game of monopoly. What put me over the top? Their new EXP service, which is internet control of your cable boxes. Years behind FIOS and Comcast, and an extra $27 a month for two boxes??? We have had nothing but problems with our Internet. They have come out four times, and cannot fix it. As of right now, it has been out all day. I can't I do work for my business. If you need to know how good or bad this companies service is, just read this. I had an appointment scheduled today between 11 am and 2 PM. Now, before I go further, let me make it clear that I work from home and have three dogs that bark at the slightest sound. So this tech, "George", pulls up in the driveway around 11:50 am and sits there's, doing nothing, for 30 minutes. Now I can't just stop working so I continued until working figuring I'll stop when he knocks and comes in. An hour goes by and nothing. I check the window again and the tech is gone. Their "supervisor" says I missed him. The hell I did. Now I'm stuck with an internet connection that constantly drops, presenting me from doing my job properly, with a new appointment scheduled for whenever they feel like actually showing up. Smh. I have Armstrong cable in Gibsonia, PA., and their Up-Load speeds stink. Cellphone data plans offer better Upload speed on a cost per GB. T-Mobile is free and unlimited data plan and they have speeds 20MB DL (download) and 10MB UL (up-load). Armstrong offers their "ZOOM" plans at ridiculous cost. Armstrong is taking advantage of customers residing in their fix monopolized location. Armstrong will soon be forced to lower their cost, because Verizon and Comcast are looking at expanding into Gibsonia, PA. area. I cannot wait, because I will leave Armstrong. read more

I would never even give them one star if I didn't have to to complete this review. I currently have Armstrong at my home. Tried to sign up for my business. Miserable experience. First of all, they give you no loyalty discount for keeping a residential and business account. Complete disregard. Secondly, where our business is located is literally on the border of their service area. Across the street literally is Comcast. There is a possibility we may have to relocate our business somewhere very close-by for reasons out of our control. So, as you may imagine, I am very hesitant to sign a 3 year contract with them. If, however, we don't relocate, I'm fine with keeping their service. I asked them if I relocate outside of their service area if I am responsible for the remainder of the contract. I never imagined they would say YES. But, they did. If you move out of their service area, they hold you responsible for the remainder of the contract which could be upward of $5000. I asked to speak to a manager and she wouldn't come to the phone. Such horrible customer service. They were about as flat and apathetic as they could possibly have been. If I treated my customers like this, I'd be out of business yesterday. Lucky for them, they have a monopoly. read more

All i can say is don't do it if you don't have to. The town of California, PA is 'stuck'. Not too many options our there for us ,the college students. Who the heck in this day and age has a 'data cap' and the fact that they don't come out and tell you that when you sign up is a scam. There is a link at the bottom of their webpage to open a PDF file then have to read through the table of contents to find the disclosure! The plans they offer are horrible and prices continually go up. The people on the phone are nice but half of them don't even know or understand the products that they are selling. I am constantly being put on hold so they can go and investigate things. i have read several other reviews about this company on other websites,, comments from the perspective of employees. Several have written that they don't like 'lying ' to the customer about data caps! hmmmmm. Come on Verizon or Comcast......make your move already. They have had plenty of time to change and improve upon their company but are making no efforts to do so and the customer is suffering! read more
