The Penne Pasta with Vodka Sauce is off the charts. So good! Great with chicken. This will feed two adults no problem. Tons of food.

It may surprise some to know how many times I've hung out in Pittsburgh in the last 16 years or so,…read morebecause I've never been to a Primanti Bros. before. But then again, I am vegetarian, so I didn't think they offered anything for me. I've looked at the menu online more than once, and didn't see any sandwiches designated vegetarian each time. But I was meeting a friend before a concert on the RMU campus, and this was conveniently located 1 mile away, and it had food and beer. I kept an open mind and figured, I'll just modify one of their sandwiches. When I arrived, I learned they also have a pizza option. But I still thought... when in Rome... There was a black bean option listed on their wall menu, but the waitress double-checked for me and we learned together that they use to offer that option, but no longer do. Damn. There was however a cheese (no meat) option on the menu, which I was surprised wasn't on the online menu. But I'll take it! Their sandwiches are interesting in that instead of sides of french fries and cole slaw, the sides are just stacked into the sandwich to make it a quick easy convenient meal! The draft beer selection was good, the sandwich was decent enough, and the service was great (weekday evening). In the end, I am not sure I'd run back for my one sandwich menu option, maybe I'd try their pizza, or go for some sides, or just stop in for a beer on my way to my next show. I enjoyed the vibe and most everthing about the place, but the sandwich was just okay.

DiBella's Subs is a casual restaurant chain that began over 100 years ago, and today it has dozens…read moreof locations across several states. My husband and I visited this particular DiBella's Subs in Robinson Township one time. Menu items include submarine sandwiches (e.g., salami, ham, turkey, corned beef, tuna, roast beef, capicola, chicken, cheesesteak, meatball, and veggie), salads (e.g., pasta, macaroni, and potato), and cookies (e.g., chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin). For lunch my husband ordered a 10-inch grilled chicken Philly sandwich. After he paid and had his receipt, an employee asked him if he had ordered a different sub, and he corrected her, and then she dishonestly told another employee that he had "changed" his mind. After many minutes, an employee handed him the correct sandwich. Including tax and tip, it cost about $16. The restaurant contained many tables and chairs, but we got the sandwich as takeout. My husband said that he liked the taste of his grilled chicken Philly sandwich.

With less than an hour left in Pittsburgh, I decided to stop at the airport Primanti Bros. I'll…read morepreface by saying it's my first PB experience, so before you come at me with, "nothing's like the original location," chill bro. Although it was crowded, I was able to sit at the bar immediately. I asked for a hazy IPA & the bartender (Emily V.) for a recommendation on a sandwich. Even though she was slammed at the bar, she was quick with a decent beer & told me that "everything in yellow on their menu is what we're known for, but I personally enjoy the Capricola, Pastrami, and one more (that I can't remember)." So, I went with the pastrami & within 10 minutes... Boy, let me tell you... The pastrami was FIRE. French fries in a sandwich is something I've done as a kid for years. But this? This is different. It was intentional, complimentary, genius. Food was excellent, very much worth an $11 sandwich. Over the past six days that I've been in PA, this was my best meal. Beyond that, the atmosphere was great as well. Tasteful music, not too loud & good tunes. Spacious enough to safely tuck away my carry-on at the bar. For an airport location, I was blown away with the food, service, and speed. If you end up at PIT airport, coming here for food may be the best choice you could make.

I travel through Pittsburgh frequent and this Primanti Bros. location. Service is always good and…read morethe food fresh. Today, however, in the midst of tough economic times, I had a different experience. I was a willing buyer of an upsell to a dirty soda. This is a Coke with syrup in it. It costs twice as much normal soda because of the flavoring. You get one for that. I asked for a regular coke refill and was refused. Mind you, you can buy a soda for 1/2 the price and get unlimited refills. Common sense says a coke refill without syrup should be no problem. The server was brand new and didn't know. Enter Kevin, who joyfully said that the policy said no refills on the 2x priced soda (without the cream syrups). Even though everyone here has unlimited soda, including staff. This is the easiest customer service issue for a good manager to make right. What did Kevin do? He double downed. I asked for a more senior, reasonable person. No such person was here. I asked for the home office email or phone numbers. He told me to look it up myself. Awesome example in front of my family of what not to do. By the way, no voices were raised or scene made. It wasn't worth that trouble. And clearly, the light wasn't coming on for Kevin. I order a sweet tea and then change to unsweetened, according to Kevin, it is a different charge. I know Primanti is better than this. Avoid the heartburn and don't buy the Dirty Soda as it is the poorest value on the menu. The food was fresh and tasty, promptly delivered. Shameful that such a simple and inexpensive thing was left unattended. This locations has a lot of tvs dedicated to the best in sports programming. After a long week away from home, facing a 2 hour delay, it wasn't the experience I was hoping for.

Not sure why I expected anything different when we went there today. Today's experience: Our server took our order in a very reasonable timeframe, but we waited close to 50 minutes for our food to arrive. And this was on a weekday; they were busy but not packed. No one came by to provide any kind of explanation. When the food finally arrived, my fries were cold and we had to ask twice for refills on our beverages. We had to go to the bar to get utensils and napkins because the server never brought them. As we were leaving, a couple at another table had just gotten their food and had the same problem-- they needed utensils and napkins. This isn't the first time we've experienced very slow service at Patrick's Pub. I don't know what the issue is, but I'm sorry to say I probably won't ever go back to Patrick's for a meal.
