Honestly, the food here is tasty. I've had the open faced roast beef sandwich and a variety of the Italian dishes. Seating is fairly quick, and service is good. However, every single time I've eaten here, I haven't felt well afterward. I haven't eaten anything that I wouldn't get anywhere else, so I don't think it's my choice of food. read more

Armstrongs is one of my favorite places for spaghetti (with meat sauce of course). For about $10, you get soup/salad, Mancini bread (yum), and a large portion. And that is for the half order of pasta. I always end up taking half of my food home. Always have loved Armstrongs. read more

The only thing that would be nice is if they had a liquor license. And in spite the name, this is the place to get great Italian food. The portion sizes are HUGE. I recommend the chicken Romano and the Italian wedding soup. Eggplant parmigiano, pizza and calzones are also great. read more

My girlfriends and I met for dinner at Armstrong's in Moon Twp. last evening March 29, 2014. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. The dessert was delicious, but we were appalled by the OWNER who gave us dirty looks and shaking his head, as we sat and talked and finished our dessert. Yes the lobby was a full house (as usual) but we do not get together very often and had lots of girl talk to do. The owner was so rude as he past our table and shook his head and eyed us up as if to say...WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE ALREADY!!! He was so rude. Oh and I might add we compensated our waitress extremely well so she did not feel she was losing out on another tip from new customers. She actually was very appreciative of the tip. In closing, I will not visit that establishment again and I do intend to let Armstrong's now how rude the owner was. Not sure what good that will do as we are only 1 out of many who visit Armstrong's, but a good owner would be concerned about the happiness of his patrons and not how much money he is losing as we sat and chatted. read more

This place is delicious. I get the stuffed eggplant every time i go. For about $14, you get a salad or soup, fresh Italian bread a side of pasta and a huge plate of eggplant layered with ricotta cheese, sauce and cheese. Enough for two or three meals. Been to Armstrong's multiple times, and it usually never disappoints! However, the service on my recent visit left me questioning. I went on a Tuesday evening hoping that we didn't hit the wait, and luckily we made it just before the rush! The hostess threw menus down on the table and walked away, I don't think she said a word to us.. and the waitress barely checked in, not even to fill up our waters. We waited 40 minutes before getting our food, and in that time we were not checked on. The food however was amazing!!!! I got the Penne ala Vodka and my boyfriend got the Steak Salad.. he was a little disappointed that there were only about 7 fries on it, though. I've been coming to Armstrong's since it opened in Moon....we use to love it! Always fresh, big portions, and great price......but the last several years it has continued to go downhill, and the prices go up....hardly any fries on the steak and chicken salads. We joke when we open our take out order.....we count to see how many fries we each got.....I got 6!! I got 8!!..and they are small......it's such a joke.....and to the gentleman who's review stated he lives a mile up the road, but almost his pants before he gets home, your not the only one....I have heard the same complaint from many of my friends that the same thing happens to them. Let me say I love Armstrongs Restaurant but tonight my wife and had to have our food wrapped halfway through our meal. The restaurant was so hot it was unbearable. I guess I should blame myself because you can not eat at Armstrongs in the summer. This lack of air conditioning has been going on for about 5 years and they have done nothing about it. I feel for the people that have to work in that environment. All the patrons around us were either cancelling their order or having them wrapped to go. When is this restaurant going to either repair or replace their air conditioning. I do love Armstrong's but not in the summer. read more

First visit to Armstrong's Restaurant in Moon. I did my homework by reading a lot of reviews and found that there were complaints about the wait for a table. I called and found that they were BYOB and they had call-ahead seating. We stopped for a bottle of wine and were there a half hour after calling. We were told there wasn't a table ready yet, but there should be one ready shortly. We were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our server, Danielle, arrived promptly with menus and to take our drink order. Since reading that the portions were huge, we had already decided that we would not order an appetizer, but after seeing orders of Fried Zucchini being served and also being intrigued by the Baked Artichoke Hearts that were on the menu, that decision was quickly overturned. The Baked Artichoke Hearts are what we decided on. I had questions about the menu. I was torn between the Penne with Vodka Sauce and the Stuffed Eggplant Parmesan. Danielle told me that the Vodka Sauce was one of her favorites and suggested that I get the eggplant, but for a $2 up-charge, have one of my sides as the pasta with Vodka sauce. That is what I went with, but not being a Penne fan, I ordered it with linguine instead. As my second side I ordered the house tossed salad with Italian dressing and dry Bleu cheese. My husband ordered the Baked Garlic Shrimp with a Caesar salad and baked potato for his sides. Danielle returned shortly with ours salads and fresh Mancini's bread, explaining that the artichoke heart appetizer took a bit of time. My tossed was a mix of romaine and baby field greens, cucumber, grape tomatoes, red onion and topped with chick peas and dry Bleu cheese, garnished with a pepperoncini and black olive. I normally order an extra side of dressing, but the salad was so flavorful, I did not need it. The Caesar was equally delicious with a real Caesar dressing and tender croutons. Both salads had very fresh greens and were generous in portion. About a quarter of the way through our salads, Danielle brought the Baked Artichoke Hearts. An ample portion of tender artichoke hearts lightly browned and baked in a garlic-butter sauce. They arrived very hot, so I chose to keep eating my salad for two reasons, it was so good, I couldn't stop and I wanted the hearts to cool down enough so that I didn't burn my mouth. The artichokes were delicious and we enjoyed dipping the fresh Mancini's bread in the sauce with every bite of artichoke. This appetizer disappeared quickly. Our entrees arrived in a timely manner and were again, so hot that I had to wait to take a bite. My husband, not having as sensitive of a palate, dove right in. He was treated to a bounty of shrimp that were perfectly cooked and sauced with a garlic-butter that was perfect for dipping bread into and so good that he spooned some over his baked potato. After finishing the last remnants of my salad, I started in on my entrée. The Vodka sauce was delicious, as promised, with the linguine perfectly cooked. The Stuffed Eggplant was excellent. I'm 100% Sicilian and both of my parents were very good cooks, so I am very critical when it comes to Eggplant Parm. Was it the best I ever had? No, my mom will always win that contest, but the sauce and eggplant were some of the best I've had outside of my mom's kitchen. We considered not ordering dessert because we were so blissfully full, but knew that an hour from now we would be looking for something sweet. We ordered the Chocolate Mousse cake to go. This cake was in the top five of best desserts I have ever had. The cake was super moist, the mousse so light and flavorful, I wish we had gotten two slices to go. It was not too sweet, it was just chocolaty goodness. I was a server for a long time in a variety of restaurants from casual to high-end. This is a very well run establishment. When you have a front of the house and back of the house that work in such harmony with each other, your dining experience is sure to be a good one. I look forward to my next visit and am already planning on that Fried Zucchini. read more

We've gotten food here for 15 years.. I can't say that I've ever had a bad meal. I have to give it 5 stars for the value and quality. Atmosphere is nothing to brag about. I always get the chicken parm and it's in my top 2 or 3 including some high end restaurants. It's cooked perfect, tender, thin, fat removed, etc... We have eaten at the Armstrongs in Moon Twp, Pa. for years. One of our favorite dishes is the Chicken Parmesan. We just had it again this past week. I really should have given kudos to Armstrongs years ago. Truly it is the best we've ever had. My daughter just loves the way the chicken is prepared. It is so tender and delicious. She has decided to never order Chicken Parmesan anywhere other than Armstrongs. We have order at other restaurants, even authentic Italian restaurants, and we have to say that anywhere else is just disappointing. Again, kudos to Armstrong's chef for their delish food. read more

I rarely leave reviews, however, the food was delicious! I ordered a side of meatballs and cheese as well as mashed potatoes with chicken gravy. The meatballs were light and almost fluffy with great taste and the sauce had a nice depth of flavor with job at the right amount of melted cheese on top. The mashed potatoes were creamy with a not too salty but homestyle chicken gravy that reminded me of something my grandma would make. The service was on point as well. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat! This used to be our favorite restaurant. The Italian dishes were the best. Had a dinner party and ordered take out for the occasion. Have to explain that the attendees of the party loved this restaurant also. We just had not been there for quite some time. So, getting the food from here was the big surprise and treat. Bad move. I am sure the chef is different since our last all being there. (years) Their sauce is much sweeter and with a different consistency - certainly not the good old Sunday sauce of old. The lasagna was more like a pastitsio than a lasagna. It consisted of two large layers with huge amounts of ricotta with enough nutmeg in it to do a nice breakfast pastry. Also, there was no cheese on the top nor between the pastitsio filling. Oh well, live and learn. Sad to have the old tried and true restaurant gone. We will miss you. read more

This used to be my favorite restaurant growing up. When I came home for the holidays, I was disappointed to discover a menu full of upcharges. Over half of the available sides were only available with a $2 upcharge, including a side salad. Pasta is available as a side, but if you ask for baked ziti instead of ziti, there is a $2 upcharge (not listed on the menu) for the cheese they add on top. I disagree with misleading prices on the menu, while "nickel and dime"ing the consumer on the backend. I will not be back until this changes, which is unfortunate. read more
