I ended up working in surgery-- which is how I met Dr. Nelson. When the pain came to a head and injections were no longer helping, I knew exactly who to go to. Dr. Nelson is casual but confident, off-the-chart intelligent but down to earth, and easy to talk to. Surgery is not a trivial thing to him, he will make sure a patient has explored all other avenues first. I have undergone two successful fusions by Dr. Nelson, one cervical, and one lumbar. I can honestly say that I could not have received better care anywhere. If I could give 0 stars or - negative stars I would!…read more Went to see Dr. V for the first time today. What a complete waste of time! The worst bedside manner. Dismissive. No concern or empathy. My total visit with him lasted 10 minutes at best. After 2 prior cervical fusions, my imaging shows severe stenosis on the right, moderate on the left, a herniated disc above my fusion, and 2mm slippage of my vertebrae at flexion and extension. My symptoms include numbness in my right hand, tingling in the back of my neck and the side of my face, and ice pick headaches in the back of my head. His response was "those symptoms don't correlate with that level. Surgery is a 50/50 chance if you'll do better. You can get another ablation or steroid shots. But degeneration is normal as we age." Maybe we can explore this as a cause: Occipital neuralgia: This is a distinct condition that is often triggered by cervical spine issues, including herniated discs. Occipital neuralgia is caused by the irritation or compression of the occipital nerves that run from the upper spine to the scalp. It is characterized by sharp, stabbing, or electric-shock-like pain that can feel very similar to an ice pick headache. Or how about it can absolutely cause the symptoms I have: A herniated disc at the C3-C4 level of the cervical spine can cause various symptoms, including: Pain: Sharp, shooting pain in the neck that may radiate down the arm into the shoulder, hand, or fingers Pain that worsens with certain movements, such as bending the neck forward or backward Numbness and Tingling: Numbness or tingling in the shoulder, arm, hand, or fingers Pins and needles sensation That was it. Off I went with the name of a chiropractor and different pain management doctor. I'm sorry but there's nothing normal about the symptoms I'm feeling. So if it's not from that level, let's figure out where it's coming from and fix it. He was absolutely horrible. I've been dealing with this for 10 years and I've never experienced a doctor who could not care less about helping. Stay away.

He spent way over an hour with me without batting an eyelash on my first appointment. I've been to his office a few times now but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. This office is certainly not the cram in as many patients as you can type and I appreciate that. He has helped me tremendously with my epilepsy. I highly recommend him.

She wanted to immediately put me on migraine medication and told me most my symptoms were caused by anxiety. I wanted to investigate the cause of the onset of these severe headaches further before getting on medication, which she really had no eagerness to do. There were so many symptoms she was unwilling to investigate at all. If she had done her due diligence, she would have found that severe hypoglycemic episodes were causing the headaches and wreaking havoc on my body and life NOT simply anxiety. Maybe it wasn't in her wheelhouse to diagnose it as a neurologist, but I left feeling so invalidated and hopeless, like everything was my fault because of anxiety I almost gave up on doctors. Months later, I'm so glad I met the right doctor who immediately took my concerns seriously and thought to look into the causes of the intense symptoms rather than throwing the first prescription that comes to mind at it. I honestly hesitated to write this for so long, because maybe she had a bad day, but the way I felt after that appointment really stuck with me and caused so much shame I hope others who are struggling to find a diagnosis steer clear of this environment. I could not sleep, look at bright light or ANY light at all some days, had tremors, disorganized speech, rashes, intense stabbing headaches and eye pain, cold sweats, panic attacks, visual snow, fatigue, light headedness, dissociation, and short term memory loss ALL DAY LONG EVERY DAY for MONTHS but because there was a rash and anxiety present she thought it wasn't her concern and the only thing she would do was offer medicine for the headaches and told me I should do more art for my anxiety. When I called to make an appointment I was advised that Dr. Stambuck had left their practice and moved to Kaiser and that it was sort of a "policy" that none of their neurologists on staff "would accept new patients with existing histories". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was being told they wouldn't even give me a consultation just because I had a previous history of neurological related issues. They didn't even ask my name or review my history before advising this. It was just a "Sorry, we won't help you". To me, that is unprofessional and unethical.

In the past 15+ years, I have seen at least 10 neurologists for migraine management in four…read moredifferent states. Without any doubt, Dr. Trevor McNutt is the cream of the crop when it comes to neurology. a) He didn't pull the "oh, so that's what the OTHER doctor said, but I need to run all my own tests (which will cost you $$$) because I don't believe that you know your own health history/I am smarter than your doctor. Instead, he read my questionnaire with my history, asked a few questions, and really engaged me about my own health. b) While I have no idea about his personality in general, he seems nice, genuine and not full of hot air like many doctors. He gets you from the waiting from himself, writes his own prescriptions, talks to you like a person. Plus, his front desk staff is always awesome, timely, and seems happy. That's a good sign. c) He is creative. I've been through pretty much every barrage of meds for my migraines; both preventative and as they happen. However, he busted out not one, but TWO treatments that I haven't tried before. One didn't work, and the other (botox for chronic migraine) cut my migraines from 3-5 a week to about 1 a week. Talke about results. d) He'll go to bat for you with insurance (or at least his office staff will). Very few places have made me feel confident that they have my best interests (health and financial at heart). e) I'm usually in an out in less than 20, more if I have more questions. Little to no time in the waiting room, and since you seem him directly (rather than a slough of PAs), it seems less like a time trap, and more getting stuff done and getting out. I'd be happy to recommend him to any migraine sufferers; he really did change my life.

I had previously had a nerve condition test performed 7 years and was dreading having to have it done again. However, thanks to Dr Pavot, he kept my mind of the uncomfortable procedure and was right to the point. Unfortunately for me, I need CTS surgery. However, Dr. Pavot did give me other courses of action for temporary relief, but explained to me any other action then surgery is just a band-aid. I highly recommend Dr. Pavot. After visiting other doctors in the area, I was given the most genuine care and direct answers by Dr. Pavot.

As I expected, Dr. Cavanaugh said there was nothing wrong with my Eustachian tubes and my ears were fine. I was glad to get this confirmed and have since figured out my problem on my own (which had nothing to do with my ears). Dr. Cavanaugh was personable and I'm sure he's a competent, knowledgeable doctor. I read negative comments about staff but the front desk and nurse who got me set up, were both very kind and friendly. During the exam, he said he saw a bit of ear wax, and without asking my permission, preceded to use a machine to extract the ear wax. When I received my bill, I was charged an additional $105 for this unneeded procedure. I have a high deductible so I knew none of this visit would be covered. I was not forewarned that there would be an additional fee on top of the office visit. When leaving he had me schedule a follow up even though he said there was nothing wrong with my ears. (I cancelled) My warning is: demand a break-down of ALL the charges for your visit. I wish I'd said when I entered the room that I want to know if there will be any additional charges on top of the office visit. And beware that he may want you to return for a follow up. Use your judgement on that. I have no problem paying the office visit, but I'm upset that I was nickel and dimed.

We discussed the surgery I had as a child and he said that due to the result I needed to come in yearly to get it cleared out. The quality of care was great.
