I had the worst experience with their Billing Department and due to their incompetence they turned my outstanding invoice (which I was charged in error) to a debt collector without communicating with me. After our experience wth Presbyterian Cornell MediCal Center, I must state that our experience years ago with Boulder Medical Center was amazing!!! The ER room took quick care of my husband after his bike accident and saved his life. He was assigned a room quickly, the staff at the ER was attentive and professional and focused. The nurses and doctors supervised on a timely basis and monitored. I was ready to get on a plane yesterday after wasting over 10 hours at Presbyterial Cornell ER which was the complete opposite. We used to love the service at the BMC but lately it has been dreadful. You can't call anyone except a scheduling person anymore, you have to leave a message on MyChart and it takes days to weeks for anyone to respond!! Literally! You have to keep at them to get a response even getting a prescription refill is arduous to say the least. They even tell you if you want a NEW prescription to request a refill, that that is the fastest way to get a prescription from your Dr. It's also impossible to get appointments unless it's a cancellation. We pay a lot of $$ for insurance and the service is horrible. My GP, who I have seen for 20 years almost took me off her patient list because I hadn't seen her in a few years! Yeah because there are never any appointments when you want them so you go to Urgent Care instead. I'm sorry they have gone way down hill. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with this place. It seems like it's just about making money and who cares about patient care. My PCP is here and I used to like her. But I inquired about a prescription for an existing condition (asthma) that she has known about for years. Her answer was I had to make an appointment to get a new prescription. This despite having seen her just a couple of months ago and having been to urgent care at BMC for this issue. Boulder Medical Center recently updated their patient portal. You'd think that is a good thing. Here's how it works: - When you get an email indicating you have new information, click on the link and get a "server not found" error. You get this msg when you've changed the db server site but never bothered to fix the location from your old links. - No way to get help except burden the practice you're seeing and get them to report the issue. You have to await a call back and that has no time frame for response. Try putting in a ticket system! - Why the lengthy repetitive data for every single update. Finding the actual msg is like a scavenger hunt or "Where's Waldo?" I love my docs but the patient-facing systems are amateurish configured. If these systems are so poorly managed, you cannot help but wonder about their security. read more

Dr. Delgado has been my primary since I moved to Colorado in 2015. I have moved several times, and I still will not change Doctors. I own a house in Loveland now, and am about to drive 50 min to my appt because of the great staff and care they offer. It's hard to find a good Dr and facility and with my anxiety, I don't see myself going anywhere else. Some people don't like that they can't show up late for their appointments, but as long as you're on time, there is no problem. And they ask you to show up early. This is a review specifically of the Pharmacy which is located within the Broadway facility. How dare they PRICE GOUGE the Covid testing kits! This should be illegal, and is certainly a horrible thing for BMC patients. I happened to be passing through, so stopped to see if they had any testing kits available. Yes, they had Flow Flex for $19.99 for ONE test. I have frequently purchased that brand for $9.99 at CVS and Walgreens. Understanding, however, that supplies all low, I purchased one test. I said that I was surprised that the price was essentially double, and she just blew it off saying all prices are going up. When I returned home, I checked online and sure enough, both Walgreens and CVS (and others) sell the Flow flex for $9.99. This is an insult. My internist is there and she is amazing. That's the only reason I still put up with this mess of an organization. Someone wrote about the portal - it's true, it never works the way it should. Understaffed, as is every medical center. I see they're doing some remodeling as they should -- it's dingy and hasn't changed since the 80's. The worst thing: the billing situation. I have a mountain of medical debt, so I made a partial payment on a bill online last Tuesday. Friday, I get a call from the billing office -- a recording saying "Your account has now gone to collections and all future appointments at this facility have been cancelled." Nice. read more

I have been a patient at The BMC for years. It has changed to become impersonal and difficult to contact or get information. If you call, in all likelihood, you will spend long periods of time on hold and then unable to make contact with the Department needed. It seems the administration of this health facility has lost an understanding of what patients need and when they need it. Centralizing services has resulted in poorer and less Dependable service. I have been a patient at BMC for years, but can no longer tolerate the appt process and nightmarish, continual, never-ending billing problems. I think the doctors I have seen are wonderful, but it is impossible to get an appt with the untrained, lazy receptionists that work there. Long waits and constant disconnects. Even if I could stomach the difficulty in getting an appt., the constant, never-ending billing issues are intolerable. Every time I see a physician at the BMC there is a huge billing problem, which is almost impossible to fix. Hours on the phone with the idiots at Insta-med, incorrect billing codes, continually and curtly told by people in BMC's office to suck-it-up. It is just easier to find new doctors. read more

This is about the Superior Medical Center at Avista. They sent me to a gastroenterologist at Vista for a routine endoscopy. That was ok until I got the bill which included of $4,000 of improper charges. BMC stood by and didn't do anything. I hired a lawyer and recovered or remove the $$$$. Now comes they next rub. I moved from Superior to Boulder and it's been a cluster fuck ever since Caremark/CVS stopped playing with my GP. I am out of depression meds and my blood pressure meds are gone. My GP and his nurse who is known as "Nurse Ratched" are pointing at Caremark/CVS and CVS is pointing to my GP and Nurse Ratched and those assholes are harming my health. I'm changing this open Season to Kaiser. I'm 75 and with severe aphasia and I'm in need of psychiatric and BMC did nothing to help to find new shrink who dropped accepting my insurance. I have gone to many doctors here, including urgent care and have nothing but good things to say about my experience.

The physicians and most staff are great, but their "systems" are horrendous. In particular: * Scheduling: You click the phone option for a particular office, it transfers you to a generic office, you explain what is needed, they say you need to talk to the receptionist at the office you called in the first place and transfer you - but the transfer seems to always go to the wrong place. So then you have to start all over. I still have not been able to get an appt. that I've been trying to get for about 6 hours now today. * Patient portal: Useless. I can no longer find most of my medical records. * Billing: In the past year I've had to waste many hours getting their billing mistakes corrected. Bottom line: The administration there just doesn't seem to care. I know their physicians are frustrated with these problems too, and it seems only a matter of time until they start losing many of their great doctors. read more

I would highly recommend receiving medical treatment anywhere else. The staff is very polite but essentially useless. I had one of the worst health experiences with their urgent care. Concussion and strep without any meds or doctors note. I was in a vulnerable position without any assistance and they made my situation worse. What I observed from a comfortable distance. All anyone has to do is look at the physicians picture list. You will see that this for profit organization has one goal. They employ mostly female Doctors NOT because they are pro female but it's because they can hire in at a fraction of the cost. I worked as a independent contractor and was not employed through them. I witnessed almost every employee worked beyond reason. Most employees become so stressed that they eventually leave. The upper management sits in their offices mostly with their doors closed. And they instill a sense of being unapproachable . The head nurse in urgent care is pretentious. She too carries a self righteous attitude towards patients and her peers. I can think of multiple occasions when patients were mocked. Sad place. read more

The doctors and their staff are great. I have been going there for 20 years. My main gripe: They used to have their own lab until they outsourced the work to Labcorp. I am self-pay and Labcorp is about 30-50% higher price as the lab before. I now get my lab work done at Boulder Community Hospital. They are great. Example: I recently needed to get a small lab test. So I decided to just do Labcorp - quick and easy. Mistake. They charged $95 and I called BCH and they would had charged $48 for the same lab. BCH also gets the results to you quicker (using their portal). It has been 3 days since my Labcorp test and still nothing. Do I do all my medical here, no. But most of it I do and have been pleased. read more

Went to Urgent Care at the BMC for what I believed was a Kidney Infection. They weren't even in my insurance network but I needed to be seen and handed them my credit card. A simple Urine analysis would have confirmed I had an infection, but instead I was turned away from getting the patient care that I needed, and was told to go the ER at Foothills. 5 hours and $5000 later, the ER told me I had an Acute Kidney Infection which required an Antibiotic. I will NEVER go back to the BMC to see ANY doctors there. Obviously even their Urgent Care department is incompetent to send away a patient who obviously needed care. Absolutely the WORST! read more

Worst doctor visit I ever had. I saw Dr. Jen, who misdiagnosed me and wasted two weeks treating me for something I didn't have. She didn't listen to me at all or care what I told her. When I found out she could have done a quick skin test while I was in her office to verify her (incorrect) diagnosis, I was even more upset that she never did the test to confirm either way. She also prescribed some medication that wasn't covered by my insurance and was too expensive to buy out of pocket. I was very disappointed with Jen and her staff, and shocked by the extensive marketing materials Jen gives patients about herself. Terrible bedside manner, and my appt lasted less than 5 min. I actually got rushed out. You guys need to focus more on patients, less on marketing your docs. Get over yourselves! BMC is a Doc in the Box - The Fast food of Medical Care. I was a patient of Dr. Jose Delgado for a number of years, but never actually met him, nor saw him in person, nor did he ever call me to check in or relay a test result. Instead, Dr. Delgado ordered blood draws and labs so that he could prescribe medications. I would run out of my daily prescription and go for a refill only to be told by the pharmacy that the doctor ordered no refills. When I phoned BMC, I was told that the Dr. suspended refills and had ordered a test, but did not bother to notify me; not once, not ever. I learned about the requirements from the pharmacy and from a call to BMC. After each one of my subsequent blood tests, (which I had to call and ask about to find out they were ordered), I was never called or notified in any way about the result. I would then call the lab to find out these labs and any resultant changes to medication, then have prescriptions ordered to my pharmacy for pick up. At no time, did BMC employees nor Dr. Delgado notify me of the need for an appointment, nor the results of any of my labs, nor changes to my prescription. In my last interaction, I notified BMC that I was out of medication before Memorial Day weekend, and was told I would receive a call. Then was told I needed to schedule a blood draw, and see the doctor at his next available appointment in late August (three months away) before Dr. Delgado would order a refill? As per SOP, when I inquired as to the fact that I would then be out of medicine for 3 months, and indicated that the blood test would be worthless (without the medication the results would be off); I was never called back. I called the after-hours receptionist late on Friday after I realized no one was going to return my call. I was talked down to, interrupted, and humiliated by the person on the phone who thought it was acceptable to talk over me and completely disregard my requests to leave a message for the doctor. This person then told me the MD would call me; he did not. My medical issue leaves me with extreme nausea, and the BMC was content to let a patient suffer over the holiday weekend. Some days later, I visited BMC for poison ivy and was told I could not be seen for unknown "block" on my account, and directed to the ER at Foothills hospital. No one had any answers, but $650.00 and an ER visit later I received oral steroids and some hydrocortisone cream. Finally the "patient advocate" told me my account was removed, and asked if I had received a letter. Over 2 weeks later I received this letter from the CEO that dismissed me as a patient. Over 10 years I had been a patient at BMC. I never had the MD tell me to come in for an office visit, a check-up, health evaluation, NOTHING. I really had no need to see the MD, and until the poison ivy episode I had not come in for care. The first and only time in a decade that I came to the office, I was denied care. No explanation at all for 2 weeks and finally a letter in the mail.This company cares about one thing only, money. You can do vastly better; if you are looking for someone who cares about their patients, steer clear of BMC and Dr. Jose Delgado. They could not care less about you, and you don't need to suffer for no reason as this town is full of great health-care specialists and doctors that care about their patients. Jose Delgado is not one of them, and frankly is not fit to hold their clipboards. read more

The signage is unclear, and the staff were generally unhelpful when it came to finding anything, and i was even told multiple times that certain people could help me with something only to be told by that person that they didn't handle that. My doctor was great, but the reception staff has been unreachable, and seems to try to take the steps to be in flexible as possible. If you end up having to hang on the phone for more than an hour to get something simple done, that's a form of abuse. I saw Dr. Peart in Dermatology a few weeks ago for some areas on my face that are red, inflamed and concerning. As a patient with a history of melanoma on my face, any such situation is of great concern. Dr. Peart treated the areas with liquid nitrogen and told me to call for an appt if they didn't resolve in a month. The areas have become more inflamed in the 3 weeks since my appointment so I called today to set up a future visit. The scheduler informed me that I couldn't even book an appointment until one month following my previous appointment --- despite the fact that my situation had worsened. Have been a patient dermatology dept at BMC for years. Discovered a lesion on my head that wouldn't heal after two months. Internist saw it and told me to see dermatology because it might be cancerous. Called for an appointment, explained my problem, and was told Iology couldn't get an appointment for two months. Pretty outrageous, considering the problem. So I'm moving to a new dermatologist, and won't be back to BMC for any reason. Also means switching three other doctors, but worth it given the difficulty of getting an appointment for a potentially serious condition. Recommend you not use BMC for any reason, and especially not the dermatology dept. read more

They REFUSED to treat me. I called to schedule an appt with my primary care Dr. because I have an ear infection. I'm off balance, nauseated, and my wife said my ear fluid looks like milk through her otoscope. I have no fever or anything else, particularly Covid-esque and no known exposures, nor even know anyone in the entire world with it. The scheduler said I couldn't make an appointment with my Dr. and transferred me to a triage nurse. The triage nurse - after hearing my obvious ear infection symptoms and the lack of fever, cough, sniffles, shortness of breath, diarrhea, elevated blood pressure, zip zilch nadda - said she'd have to transfer me to the RESPIRATORY clinic. The respiratory clinic informed me that "everyone is being put through respiratory because of the virus." Are you kidding me?! They're so motivated to drive Covid numbers up that they're FORCING patients to choose whether to unnecessarily expose themselves and their families to Covid carriers or go without treatment. Their motivations are beyond unethical; they are dishonest and evil - they embody the antithesis of the Hippocratic Oath. Now they just manage the egos of Dr Robyn Nordstrom Lane, who should just retire, and the other docs. They change appointments and then push out simple well visits for months.
