I've also needed to come in for a fill for my tooth, and staff is quick to accommodate based on my schedule. I enjoy the friendly staff, clean space, and prompt reminders for appointments. During this pandemic, it is so important to find a dental office that observes all safety precautions. With all the excellent reviews for Dr. Lee's and Dr. Lum's practice, I've actually been meaning to make an appointment for a while now. BEST. DECISION. EVER. Firstly, their safety protocol is impeccable. We first call the receptionist when we arrive in the parking lot. Once the room is ready, we can enter the modern building. A friendly front office staff welcomed me, and took my temperature. There was abundant hand sanitizer at the door. Each operatory is private, and so spacious. Dr. Lee is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I like his honest and non-aggressive approach while doing the clinical exam. The perio probing that Dr. Lee performed was the most gentle that I've ever felt. Dr. Lee did a very comfortable and thorough cleaning. Toward the end, the experienced RDA wrapped up with the coronal polishing and fluoride application. Moved recently and had to change my dentist. Someone suggested this place so decided to try out. I know every business has a designated boogeyman that they like to point to & milk customers. It's parvo virus for veterinarians and wisdom teeth for dentists. Dr Lee wasn't an exception. I was his new patient and he spent no time asking any questions which was odd. I doubted if it was just me so I asked my wife who had an earlier appointment and she thought the same. The thing that pissed me off was that Dr didn't seem to have read my xray file when he suggested I remove lower wisdom teeth from both sides. I already had removed my left ones and corrected him. He tried saving face with some rambling about removing lower part of already removed tooth. Staff was cordial and their equipment seemed top notch so not giving one star. Plus all other reviews seem to be all praise for this place so I am not sure if it was just a busy/bad day for the Dr. but I want to register my subpar experience. read more

This is a much needed and overdue review. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Lee for all of our dental care for over ten years now. Even when they changed their office location, we moved with them because we always get quality and friendly care with every visit. His office staff are very friendly and work with our schedule to get us in to be seen. We've done cleaning, fillings, teeth whitening, night guards and have been satisfied with our results! I really love coming here. I've been seeing Dr. Lee and Dr. Lum since I moved to the Bay Area 3 years ago when they were still in Santa Clara. Their new office is much nicer, but the drive to get there is such a pain. Still, it's worth it. More importantly, they're not a business who tries to gouge every penny from you. They've been very reasonable and patient with my insurance and personal financial situation. I've let my teeth really deteriorate during the years I didn't have insurance nor a job. I'm trying my best to save what's left and they've been really good with supporting me. Chelsea and Sherry are always a pleasure to see and work with. Everyone here just seems genuinely happy. I've been a patient of Dr. Lum's for almost 2 years now and look forward to seeing him. Dr. Lum is very practical and gives it to you straight about what needs to be done versus what isn't necessary, which I appreciate ALOT since I feel like not a lot of places are willing to be honest. At my first visit, I remember Dr. thoroughly assessed my teeth and gave me advice on how to improve my weak spots in brushing that I think helped reduced the amount of plaque development. In addition, the quality of his dental work is good, I've had cavities fixed, mouthguard made, and cleanings done here and have never experienced a complication. The front office staff here is also super nice and was able to figure out my insurance benefits easily. Getting to the office is a little tricky but once you are there parking is abundant. Also the fact that they have Saturday hours helps tremendously for a young professional. read more

I made a dental cleaning appointment with Dr. Lee and it went well. Every member of the staff were very welcoming! I felt comfortable throughout my visit, from the moment I walked in to the door, to getting my teeth cleaned, and walking out of the door. They remind you of your appointment ahead of time, and confirm of the appointment in two ways: email and text message. Dr. Lee was conversational and professional. He did a great job cleaning my teeth. All the plaque were removed. I was also amazed by his knowledge. He could tell what my diet and habits were like just by looking at my teeth, and what his recommendations were to help maintain and improve my dentures. If you're a new patient, they take X-ray of your teeth to evaluate what they will be working with. I recommend this facility to anyone! read more

I drive an hour (and more with traffic) just to come here! The staff is very friendly and welcoming! The dentist has a great sense of humor and explains every detail of whats going on and the procedures that need to be done, which makes you feel that much more comfortable! I also love how there is a family feel to the place! I love how there are pictures all over of the staff and their families! A lot of the time work is your home away from home and it's nice to have your work place feel like your second home! The dental hygenist was also very patient with my son's first check up and cleaning! We will be coming here for a very long time! So this is an extended review of my most recent visit. Again I can't say enough about this place! Chelsea- the hygienist was very accommodating to my family's needs. I brought myself and my two sons in that day for our yearly check-up. I was afraid how my youngest son would be now that he is more aware of what a dental appointment consists of. She made him feel very comfortable in the chair. She explained to him every step she was going to do next so it wasn't a surprise to him. She treated him with respect and even gave him choices like which eye protector he wanted to wear. He even remembered the instruments used and was talking about them when we got home! For some reason whenever Chelsea gives him floss he uses it, but never when I buy it lol. Dr. Lum is a good dentist with serious office management problems. And he just might ghost you as a patient. I was a patient of Dr. Lum for 5 years from 2009-2013. I was happy with his dental care, but there were many issues with billing and handling of insurance, as other reviewers have also mentioned. I switched to another provider in 2013 when Dr. Lum stopped taking insurance. This year (2018) I learned that Dr. Lum takes my current insurance. My wife called to see if I could make an appointment to see Dr. Lum again. I had no reason to think this wouldn't be a smooth transition back. In fact, I was looking to have Dr. Lum inspect his own past work (fillings). My wife had a pleasant conversation with the receptionist (Sherry), who suggested we have records sent from the current provider and planned to follow up to get the appointment scheduled. What happened next makes no sense at all to me, but we received a voice message from Sandra in Dr. Lum's office saying that Dr. Lum feels this is not the right office for me. She cited a request that was never made, saying we demanded a procedure without an exam, which is absolutely false. I have tried several times to have a conversation with Dr. Lum, as I have never had anything but pleasant interactions with him over the years. But he refuses to speak with me directly after leaving a dental break-up message that I find bizarre and insulting. Based on past experiences and now this unfortunate end to my time as a patient of Dr Lum, I believe members of his staff take liberties and bend the truth, and that Dr. Lum never had an accurate idea of the conversation nor a willingness to hear me out even once. read more

Never thought I'd be so prompted to write a review for my dentist, because dental appointments are usually like.. homework and projects. You wait 6 months and you're anxiously flossing every day for a week before the appointment, hoping your dentist won't give you a bad grade, or bad news of cavity. You think your dentist is either judging you or judging you hard. Worse, they are so chatty when they perform anything on you, that you just want to dash out of there asap. I never thought dentist offices could be anywhere near pleasant. But. This dental office is so different. Dr. Lum and the staff here really make me feel like a million bucks every time I come in. They are gentle, efficient, thorough and friendly - from booking appointments to cleaning to consulting. I would trust them with complicated procedures if I ever needed one. i switched over to this office once i got a new job with dental insurance. they're fantastic at billing my insurance and maximizing my benefits; i never have to deal with negotiating rates or copays or anything else (that applies to regular visit costs, but they also made me a replacement nightguard and billed everything to insurance. my old dentist wanted a $700 payment for that!). i'm always offered early morning appointments that fit my schedule, with an email/text reminder about a week ahead of time. i go in every 6 months for a regular cleaning and check up, and everyone has always been courteous and professional. the cleaning is thorough, and they are careful not to aggravate any sensitive areas and to explain any spots that i should pay extra attention to. i have had good dental health so far with no major interventions, but i know i'll be in good hands if anything comes up with dr. lee and dr. lum. read more

Had an initial 6 month cleaning here and they were wonderful. Agnes (dental hygienist) was gentle and spoke with me on how to keep my gums healthy, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Dr. Lum went over my plan of care, very personable easy to talk to. The receptionist even looked up how much a night guard would be with my insurance without having to ask, and there was no pressure to get additional services, etc. Highly recommend them! Yelp does not disappoint. Clean, well kept dental office with the latest equipment (like that 360 degree rotating X-ray machine) and superb service. Comfortable dental chairs that you even has a massage feature that gently soothes your back during your visit here. We want to find a dentist that's close to our home so both my husband and I went to see Dr. Gary Lum earlier this year. My husband need to have a new crown, the staff called our insurance, then told us we need to pre-pay $765 as a copay. I don't know why they want to charge before the service, but anyway my husband paid it. Then 2 weeks after the service, I got the insurance's statement, after insurance payment, we indeed owe the office $750. Then I called the office for the refund. The staff told me that they haven't got the insurance payment yet. I waited another month, called them again. This time they confirmed that they overcharged me and said they will refund. But now it's 2 months after that phone call and I still haven't got any refund. For myself, I went to see Dr. Gary Lum for a dental cleanup and routine checkup. They sent me to do the 4D x-ray first thing when I got in the office without telling me why. Later on I learned that the 4D x-ray is to check for wisdom tooth. But I got all my 4 wisdom teeth removed 10 years ago by an oral surgeon! Also the 4D x-ray doesn't replace regular x-ray, so I ended up with another set of full mouth x-ray. Then the hygienist came in and examined my teeth. She said my teeth has very bad periodontal condition and need a deep cleaning right away. But I just saw my another dentist(whom I have seen for the past 20 years) 6 months ago and she never mentioned any gum problem. So I insisted for a regular cleaning. She used some tool with a scraping head to do the cleaning, it was very painful and uncomfortable. I have a filling on my lower teeth, her cleaning somehow damaged the filling so it fell off shortly after this visit and I had to go back to my old dentist to put another filling in. What's worth mentioning is that for the entire time Dr. Lum never checked my teeth himself. All my experience with him is that he came in telling me one of my old root canal(which I had it done 10+ years ago and never bothered me) was not done right. BTW, that root canal was done together with my another 2 root canals by the same specialist and was never complained by my old dentist in the past 10+ years. Dr. Lum then suggested me to see a specialist downstairs and re-do the root canal. I guess after I re-do the root canal, I'll need a new crown, so business for both of them. Ha, what a win-win situation! read more

I visited today as a returning customer after 5yr, and I am highly impressed! It was just a regular cleaning and inspection. My service was performed by Dr (Michelle?) Nguyen and dental assistant Julia. They are both very pleasant and professional. Their techniques are gentle and they don't try to rush things through, while also being efficient.  Julia is definitely one of the best I have had. They also care to communicate what they are doing as they are performing the cleaning, which is a big plus. Dr Nguyen seems knowledgeable and reliable, and can explain things well. Thank you! BTW they also prompted me to write my first review on Yelp. The facility is very nice. It is clean and modern. Really like the high ceiling. I've been coming to this dental office location for 4-5 years now, since Dr. Amy used to work there. To be honest, I'm always one to be afraid of dentists and that terrible drilling noise #cantstandit and I used to switch from dentist to dentist almost every year. I'm so happy I gave Dr. Amy a try and she ended up being the most friendly dentist I've ever met. Every time I went in, no matter if it's just a teeth cleaning or to get a crown put in, she always made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely give her credit for getting over my fear of dentists! I know Dr. Amy now has handed over the location to Dr. Lee and Dr. Lum. At first I was pretty sad to see her go because she's always been there for my teeth, through thick and thin. However, after I've had my first appointment with Dr. Lee and Dr. Lum, I felt right at home again. Dr. Lum always makes sure I feel the least pain whenever he does anything, even something as simple as using the water spray to spray my teeth. I love how caring they are. Not to mention, the staff is just wonderful as well! Sherry is always accommodates to my last minute cancellations and appointment switches and has never given me the stink eye. I first met Dr. Lum several years ago and was impressed that he was very meticulous and informative to my dental needs. Then when I had a dental emergency (I broke off my tooth), I got to meet Dr. Lee who took great care of me. I required a pano-xray and my regular dentist did not have the machine. Fortunately Dr. Lum does, in its clean state-of-the-art facility. I am so happy to have found the office of Dr Lee and Dr Lum. For the last five years they have always taken such good care of me.
