My wife chose this dental office after our previous dentist closed her practice. We visited several times, and I have to say that the doctors are very professional. Unfortunately, the front desk experience is the complete opposite. The staff were rude, unprofessional, and showed absolutely no customer service skills. When I tried to explain the reason for our visit, the two women at the front desk responded with an attitude, basically: "What? Who are you talking to?" It made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It's a shame because the doctors are good, but the way patients are treated at the front desk completely ruins the experience. This is the only reason I cannot give this place more than one star. What a shady practice. It started off well as I had a deep cleaning and some fillings done. There goes about $200 of my TASC. [[HIGHLIGHT]]THEN I went in for a regular cleaning. As they called my name for me to go in, I mentioned how they charged me for the free consultation, and then they told me they no longer accept my widely accepted insurance (Delta Dental), so I would have to pay out of pocket.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I chose not to. My primary dentist referred me out to get my wisdom teeth extracted, after checking out the reviews in the Mountain View area I ended up at Smile Craft. Getting an appointment was very easy and the front office was responsive and accommodating. I had my exam and X-rays taken, and I met Dr Rita to go over everything with me. I had a bad experience with a molar extraction before, so I was very nervous, and I appreciated the extra time taken to give me the detailed breakdown of what to expect during the procedure and recovery. Dr Rita also mentioned that she had a lot of experience with extractions and that put me at ease. I had my first extraction this time last year. Dr Rita did a great job numbing me (I don't respond quickly to anesthetic) so I didn't feel a thing. Even though my tooth was completely sideways which made things difficult Dr Rita made quick work of it. Surprisingly I had no pain after the numbing wore off and overall recovery was quick. I had my second extraction a month later and it went just as smoothly! This experience made me decide to switch my primary and go with Dr Rita going forward. Since then I had a small cavity on my front tooth that was very visible, which Dr Rita did a great job with by blending the filling so that it's completely undetectable! She also worked to get me started with aligners. They use digital scanning technique for everything instead of the molds I've had in the past, this was much faster and far less uncomfortable! I've had nothing but good experience with Smile Craft and Dr Rita, she is thorough, detail oriented and most importantly does not push procedures on you, which I greatly appreciate! Recently came back for my annual check up which I unfortunately had to skip last year due to Covid. They do have Covid protocols in place, when you arrive you are supposed to call them and let them know that you are there at the front door. They check your temperature to make sure you're not running a fever, and from there you're able to walk in. They have hand sanitizer at the desk for your use, in the back area they have the rooms individually divided by plastic curtains to make sure they are sealed off from the main hallway. I came here for a normal check up and cleaning, it turned out I needed a deep cleaning and it was done relatively quickly. My teeth looked and felt great afterwards, and I look forward to my next visit with them to finish my deep cleaning. After I was done my husband was seen right after me since we booked our appointments back to back, they did however sanitize everything within the room that we were in prior to my husband being seen. From there we scheduled our next visit, and I asked for the fluoride toothpaste that they have here. I am currently blanking on the name but it has a higher fluoride content in it and I really really love using it for my teeth. It seems to help them feel stronger in a way that the toothpaste you would buy at your local target just don't. all in all I never have a bad thing to say about smile craft, the staff here is always very personable and friendly and they remember you and try to make your visit here as pleasant as possible on. The actual exams or any work that you have done is professional grade and they always ask you how you were doing in case of any pain you may feel. I went to SmileCraft for regular cleaning. I had been there in the past and experience was generally okay, but not great more recently. I still went there to give it a chance. The specialist attending to me started forcing me to go for deep cleaning. I understand that she was trying to make a recommendation, but she was rude and told me that if something happened to my teeth, she is not responsible. After that she made me sign a waiver, which was worded to threaten that opting out of the treatment would leave me boneless. Deep cleaning requires anesthesia and is done in 2 sessions, and is not to be taken lightly. Reading the reviews from other folks around deep cleaning, I am glad I was firm and refused it. Their entire staff was quite rude from that point. Then she proceeded towards regular cleaning and made it a point to poke around in my mouth as much as possible. The whole experience was pretty bad and it felt like the entire staff hangs up to extort money and bully their patients. The front desk staff was also pretty rough. I had gone there with my kids, and my 9 year old was also poked pretty rough in his mouth and is all sore from the cleaning. Not a great place for kids and Sure enough I won't be returning. I also did a crown with them 2 years ago, and the treatment was really badly done. Despite several follow ups, my gums kept bleeding. This condition never existed prior to this treatment. We have come for all dental procedures for years. They always have very polite and caring staff and doctors and provide great service. I came with multiple problems. I had painful experiences and also mistreatment problems. My teeth were getting worse and worse. I took several visits to get things right, but they were able to get all my problems fixed. All procedures were not too painful at all and I'm very relaxed about visiting dentist now! They spotted some issues that nobody had understood, but were causing troubles for me. Once I called just before travel, they took me in and fixed the issue. I have been able to have no teeth problems for years now. My teeth are always clean and healthy now. I unfortunately had a pretty unpleasant experience with this practice. I chose them when I moved to the area because they had advertised appointments on weekends. By the time I went for the first time, they no longer offered weekend appointments. I figured I had already gotten all set up with them, so I figured I would just take off work and continue seeing them. Every time I finish a cleaning, I set up up my next appointment before I leave. I have done this with every dentist. When I returned for my next appointment, they told me they didn't have me on their schedule. I took time off work and drove 20 miles during rush hour to see them, so this was very frustrating to have to turn around and drive back. I will not be returning here. Just after writing my previous review a new dental hygienist had joined the team, Marlyn, and she is the epitome of perfection of her craft. Marlyn knows my teeth better than I do, never stabs my gums into oblivion like other places have, doesn't shame me for my new found daily coffee habit, and makes them all sparkly again. I've also had full conversations with Marlyn while she's doing her best work, and I have no idea how she understands me and then remembers it all in detail the next time I'm there! The new safety practices implemented at the office exhibit how Dr. Nguyen and her team are doing their best to stay current with the most stringent office sanitization protocols and PPE I've experienced. Btw, reading the few (mostly very personal) bad reviews here it's clear some people don't understand medical policies and procedures. It's impossible for a new health care provider to provide comprehensive care without having all the facts first. That's why xrays are needed. I wouldn't trust a doctor or dentist to diagnose anything without all the facts. Wrt deep cleaning. That's on the patient. We all have different habits and dna, and unfortunately for many, deep cleaning is sometimes the only course of action and can be too little too late. Be thankful. Implants are much worse and often cost $10k+. To the 'haters'. Please be more thoughtful when leaving Yelp feedback about a business, especially if you haven't contacted them first to try and resolve. I decided to come here since Smile Craft given all the positive reviews and they were in-network for Blue Cross Dental PPO. Plus, the fact that I live about 5 minutes away didn't hurt either. In any event, the appointment was easy to make and I picked one of the earlier slots since I was overdue for a cleaning (probably 10 months overdue) after my prior dentist was no longer considered in-network. The initial exam performed by Dr. Huang was pretty thorough with a new set of x-rays and oral cancer screening. However, it's the cleaning portion of the exam with which I had more of an issue. Dr. Huang is on the heavy handed side when it comes to her cleaning. I have probably gone to 6 or 7 different dentists over the past 25 years and she was probably one of the least gentle dentists I have seen over the years. While she is quite thorough, she definitely doesn't have a gentle touch when cleaning. I have sensitivity in my teeth which is something I have dealt with for at least 10-15 years now and I found myself wincing several more times than usual. Furthermore, the hygienist managing the suction didn't seem to be paying much attention since she pretty much had the suction device stuck on the left side of my mouth, and poked at my left tonsil on more than a few occasions. I nearly gagged two or three times from the poking and prodding of the suction device. In addition, the hygienist didn't move the suction device much to catch the water spraying all over the place and collecting in my mouth. It's a good thing I opted for the "sunglasses" since the water was spraying all over my face during the entire cleaning session. They had to wipe the water off of my face twice during the cleaning session. After the cleaning, Dr. Huang excused herself and the hygienist was tasked with polishing my teeth. Honestly, it was probably the most half-@$$ed polishing I have ever had performed. Lazy is probably the most generous way I could describe the polishing experience. In any case, I politely scheduled my next exam/cleaning appointment 6-months now with the front desk, but I will most assuredly cancel it. This is pretty disappointing given the good reviews I read about this office. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Nguyen for over two years and always had pleasant experience until today. Due to Covid, they ask their patients to wait outside until they call you. I have been standing outside the office for over 10 minutes past my appointment until I got called by their staff. The staff was not friendly and did not apologize for being late. I had an appointment for cleaning only today and was in a hurry but the staff insisted I need to do an x-ray in order for her to do the cleaning. Why would they force their patients to do an x-ray if I am here for a cleaning appointment only? Please read this review carefully. I'm explaining what exactly happened to me with this clinic. They never apologized or admitted they are wrong because apparently money is their first priority. The dentist work is great though. I loved her treatment. I will make sure this won't happen to anyone else like me, a new resident in this country. By spreading the word, I will make sure that people won't get fooled by this business and don't experience the fraud as I did. For dentists, I know there is no legal obligation in not getting pre approval from the insurance; however, there is something called ETHICS. This business should have told me about the details and whether they are using a white filling or a silver one and the price of each BECAUSE I TRUSTED THEM AND FELT LIKE I AM IN SAFE HANDS. And their original "estimate" treatment plan should be close to the actual amount. My actual amount to pay out of my pocket is more than a %100 of the original! I went to this place a couple times for checkups and really liked it. Dr. Nguyen was great as were the hygienists. However, at my most recent checkup, they were very insistent that I needed to come back for a deep cleaning. I trusted that they had my best interests in mind, so I went ahead and scheduled the deep cleaning, which they said would be best done in two separate sessions (one for each side of the mouth). I went in a few days later for the deep cleaning on the first side and it went off without a hitch. They didn't have an opening for another appointment for a couple weeks, but I had no problem waiting. However, when I arrived for what I thought was the second half of my deep cleaning, Dr. Nazak Noorian came in and let me know that Dr. Nguyen was not in the office so she would be taking care of me. "Dr." Noorian then proceeded to poke around in the inside of my mouth, not focusing on the uncleaned side but just doing what felt like a general checkup. Then, 10 minutes or so later she says "Okay, all done!" "Uhh, what? Aren't you supposed to be deep cleaning the other side of my mouth today?" I asked. Dr. Noorian then rushed out of the room presumably to check my notes. She then came back about 10 minutes later to explain that it was the hygienist's fault because she put in my notes that I had gotten both sides done already. I mean, come on...really? If this was really a "necessary" procedure, shouldn't a trained dentist be able to tell that only one side of my mouth had been worked on? And how does someone accidentally write a note in my file that I got a procedure that I in fact, never got? Did their pen just slip? I don't really think that's how notes work. To top it all off, when I get to reception they cheerily present me a bill for a full deep cleaning. When I asked why I was being charged for both sides when they had only done one, Dr. Noorian pipes up again to explain that what she actually did to my mouth WAS the deep cleaning, she just has a different style of doing it than other people and that her style doesn't take very long nor does it require any numbing agent. I may have been born at night but it wasn't last night, lady. I like Dr. Nguyen and the other women there (other than Master Deep Cleaner Noorian), but I have to hold them all responsible for not giving me a heads-up that my next appointment would be handled by an unqualified mouth explorer. This place is very cute and modern. It's in the same plaza as another dental office (which I will not name because I'm sure that place sucks). I walked into the office and was greeted by a friendly woman. She offered me water/tea/coffee and directed me to the beverage station in the corner with all of the metal spoons, glasses, and complimentary water bottles. They're so thoughtful to have all this ready for their clients and a part of me really wanted to just sit there and drink tea while I read up on some magazines. Well the front desk woman was also the doctor I had my teeth cleaning session scheduled with! Dr. Amy Kim Nguyen, a genuinely warm and caring dentist. She was the only one working and so she did everything by herself and all under 45 minutes. Such a speedy little woman. She explained step by step what she was doing and so even though the station I was in didn't have a TV set, it was like I was watching the Discovery Channel. I learned so much about teeth and as lame as that might sound, it was quite the pearly white enlightenment. She even explained to me how dentists measured gums and told me my gums were a size 4 when they should be a size 2 or 3. I mean I didn't even know one could have fat gums!!! Mind blown! I told her the only dentist I ever enjoyed visiting was my dentist back in Germany when I was a kid and that was only because he would give me dinosaur toys after each tooth he removed. So to my chagrin, at the end of our session Dr. Amy gave me a nice care package with my own dinosaur toy! I chose a triceratops because they have a fricking helmet with horns for a head! Some of you may wonder if I may be 13, but guess what, you have to be 21 to be an Elite! So nope, wrong! I'm a grown man who loves dinosaurs. Anyways I got my teeth super cleaned, some new wisdom to randomly bring up at parties or whenever I come across other dentists, a super cool care package with dinosaurs and Target gift card, and also I managed to take a couple of free water bottles with me because you just can't turn down free swag yo! I can't say I know much about the other doctor on staff but Dr Amy Nguyen is the best! Ask for her! I was a bit surprised by some recent comments about scheduling difficulties; in my experience the administrative staff was actually super competent (reminders about teeth cleaning, proactive scheduling). I had a growth in my mouth and they went out of their way to schedule an appointment with an oral surgeon for me to do a biopsy (instead of waiting for me to do it...which I failed to do for a while). I love going to the dentist again! I had a great dentist as a kid. He was very thorough and made sure to explain everything. I felt very comfortable and relaxed with every visit. I moved away for college and by the time I came back to the area my childhood dentist had retired. Since the time I left, I never had luck finding another dentist who measured up. I tried too many dentists where I had rushed or impersonal visits or just made the experience a painful one. I even had dentists who were ready to drill my teeth on the first visit, when I've never had issues with my teeth in my life. I was worried I wouldn't find another trustworthy, good dentist again ... until I came to Dr. Amy Nguyen! She and everyone in this office have restored my faith in visiting the dentist again! They're really good about telling me what and when to expect for the current and upcoming visits. They helped me get the most from my insurance coverage to keep my teeth as well cared for as possible. Even if I forget to floss as much as I should, they're good about explaining the importance without nagging or making me feel guilty for it. And I get to take home a great travel pack of dental goodies with every visit containing more items than any other dentist has provided me with! I could keep going on and on but to keep it short, I'm so glad I found Smile Craft Dental and Dr. Nguyen. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I have been coming to SmileCraft Dental for a while now, and they have certainly made my experience coming to the dentist much more pleasant than what I've experienced previously. Upon checking in, you are soon taken into your room where the dentist will come in and check on your overall dental health. They make sure to check for any early signs of serious disease as well. After the dentist finishes up, the dental hygienist will come in to do the cleaning. The dental hygienists are thorough without being too rough, a trait that is not common amongst all dentists. The workers here are all very friendly and will strike up conversation with you as well, to make the overall experience great! read more

I feel so fortunate to have found Dr. Amy Nguyen. She is one of the rare doctors who not only genuinely cares about her patients but also doesn't try to squeeze them out of their money. Awesome experience with efficient yet unhurried care. The staff made me feel welcome and answered all my questions. I really appreciated hearing and learning about how my dental and peridontal health status was during the exam and cleaning. I love love love Dr. Noorian! So professional and personable. I used to see her at Tranquility Dental and was really sad when I found out she was no longer with them. Being the picky person I am with health professionals, I was determined to find her because she is the only dentist I trust with my teeth. I did some googling to find out where she went and luckily yelp located her for me! Yay! Thanks yelp! I saw her this morning for a check up and was very happy with my care. She took the time to educate me on dental hygiene and recommended products I could get over the counter to help with my tooth sensitivity. Another dentist I saw back in March had told me I needed to replace 2 fillings and get another one done on my right side; which surprised me. Dr. Noorian took the time to look at my fillings and confirmed that my fillings were fine and my teeth were ok except for my need to increase flossing (oopsi!). Dr. Noorian is very knowledgeable and I trust her judgement and expertise. She is such an awesome dentist that I am willing to drive out to Mountain View from San Francisco to see her. The Smilecraft crew are all so friendly. I received such awesome care from them that I walked out happy and with a smile on my face. Hope I had met Dr. Nguyen to obtain a professor service as most comments said. I just had an unexpected experience, here. Firstly, without modern tech machine, It took a long time for taking X-ray than these other dentist offices I used to go (Peninsula center and Brad Piini) did, but the assistant was really really friendly. Secondly, I met Dr. Nazak Noorian, she asked me what my problems brought me here without showing my X-ray pictures that these others did when they were talking about my issue. Start doing the process. I don't know what it called. The dentist count 3-2-3,3-2-2... she made mistakes and redid 2-3 times. When cleaning, I felt hurt somewhere else (except my bleeding tooth) and believe that occurred because her tool touches my gums than because of my issue. Not speak English fluently, so I kept silent instead of fighting for what I thought. After 10-15 minutes, she said I need a deep cleansing because gum built up between my teeth, it's hard to clean. P/s: I made a very deep cleaning 1 year ago and come back to clean my teeth 6 months ago. ( so I see the differences between the doctors' patient)I floss every day and brush my teeth with smart 9500 Phillip Sonicare toothbrush. I do not know what she said is the truth or not, but I myself can realize that my gum issue is much better than the first time I had a deep cleaning. Especially, English is my second language, but I maybe feel how friendly they are based on the tone of their voice. That is my individual sentiment.
